New Losi 8ight-XE Ready 2 Race

Welcome to Ready2RaceRC! I'm going to be chronicling my venture into 8th scale electric and nitro buggy racing. Which will include car breakdowns, fixes, track practice, tinkering and of course some bashing for fun!

Diff set up definitely has a lot to do with track layout, high traction or low traction. A better all around set up may be 7/7/4 (front, middle, rear).

@@mikecraig5024 Oh nice. Overall would be best for me right now I think. So kinda swap my current setup from 4/4/7 to 7/7/4. I’ll do that in the new XE. Thx!

The trick to the battery tray is ordering the 8ight kit battery tray... it can be had for about 25$ and takes about 5-7mm off that RTR battery tray. I think they added the extra height to the RTR tray so people would be more compelled to buy the spektrum battery as its a bit slimmer. If you pick up the kit tray, the tray sits flush against the chassis and you can run 37mm batteries no problem.

@@Ready2RaceRC-s2z Yep, I was really surprised in the added height of the battery tray in the RTR vs the Kit tray. I did have the dremel a couple of screws down just s small bit as they were a bit too long when using the kit tray. TLR241071 is the part number, comes with some extra parts as well that will be good for spares.

Nice video. The tray is designed for race packs, such as Gens Ace Redline which are lower profile than that big Zee battery you got. They include additional battery straps for the taller batteries. The stock straps are designed for two 2S shorty packs that lie front to back in that long battery tray. Hope that explains it.

@@RazorRC Dude Razor! Love your channel! I kinda figured it was a dual setup but was thrown off when it recommends the 4s spektrum smart battery and doesn’t have the dual battery leads like a lot of Arrma cars with spektrum components. Thanks so much for the clarification! Cheers!

That killed me off too. I do have shorties but why they didn't include dual leads as with any other arrma? I just don't get it

I guess you can go with one of those High Voltage batteries used for planes that are usually longer and thinner than regular lipos. You can set it up right in the middle of the tray for better weight distribution

@@Puertorrican_Power yeah very strange why they didn’t include that. That’s a good idea, I may look into that. The batteries I received after this vid did fit. The ones I mentioned. But it’s still a bit tight.

@@Ready2RaceRC-s2z probably you know this already, but when racing you want to go as light weight as possible. Even when that battery did fit, as you said, it is a little tight and too heavy at 6000 mah or more. In racing buggies I like to go below 5000mah, more like close to 4000mah. That will also help with the car feeling quicker and snappier on the corners. Also, a thinner battery will means a LCG. Try a HV, thinner battery around 4000 and see how you like it. Sure, run time might be less, but that only matters on long races.
