"Ustaz" is not the right transliteration of the real Arabic word "أستاذ" it's supposed to be something like "Ustadh" and that's the very reason that when this word became common in Urdu it began to be written as اُستاد as this was closer to the pronunciation of the Arabic word "أستاذ"

Whether you agree with this honorable teacher or not, his choice of words, balance and tempo of his speech is commendable.

جب بھی موقع ملتا ہے میں غامدی صاحب کی ایسی نشستیں لازمی سنتا رہتا ہوں۔۔ آجکل نفرتوں کے دور پر غبار میں اتنی شائستہ اور مدلل گفتگو خال ہی سننے کو ملتی ہے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ انہیں صحت بھری لمبی زندگی عطا فرمائے تاکہ ہمارے ساتھ ساتھ نئی نسل بھی ان سے مستفید ہوتی رہے۔

Ghamdi shab, some of your answers in this Q&A made me cry. Mashallah buhat khoobsurat jawab dia 'zaban' ki ahmiyat pe. thank you so much for this. I have been in Canada for 20 years now, my daughter turning 18, who never lived in Pakistan but Alhamdulillah speaks Urdu fluently. I faced immense challenges raising her on my own (father left us 10 years ago), balancing Easter and Western upbringings - my worst fear, even bigger than losing Islamic traditions was the loss of Urdu! I adopted very unconventional ways to connect my daughter with Urdu that included songs, poetry and historical movies like 'Lagaan'. For many years I thought that she is learning language well but her focus would be limited to Art and Music but now (I cannot thank Allah enough) to my surprise; her only way to truly connect with Islam (historically and philosophically) is Urdu!!

Ghamidi Sahab is absolutely right about the importance of mastering the lanuage of the Islam, but I would like to add that in this day and age if we can insist on learning Arabic 1st and foremost to the extent that we can read the Qur'an without any translation or any intermediary then we should insist on it. After that whatever ethnic background we have, we can choose to learn the language of the respective ethnic background, but going back to Arabic is one of the most effective tools to reverse the effects of the colonialism. We have already by and large learnt English so, if we are connected to language of the Qur'an and expressing our thoughts and experiences in English then not only we would be able to preserve our own Islamic tradition but would also be able to exact an effective exchange with a much wider global audience. I firmly believe that the content and the message of the Qur'an has huge attraction in it for the people of all the world, but it's just simply not intelligible for the masses of the world and the Muslims are not in any position in the world that they may inspire the people of the world to learn the language or languages of Islam... There are so many new reverts from western backgrounds that have mastered Arabic in a reasonably short time and actually have become religious leaders in the Muslim communities across the westen lands. So, if they can do it, surely we can do it as well... إن شاء اللّٰه!

Would not it be good if only those questions are asked from Ghamidi sb. which was previously not answered by him. This will give us the opportunity to understand his point of view on other important questions which has never been raised and answered by him in videos. Ghamidi sb. is a greatest scholar of Islam and importance of his time must be understood by people. When People have any question they must search Internet first. Also, the event hosts should avoid presenting previously answered questions.
