Thank you for the review and the assembly that is really helpful. I have seen this in IKEA and tried it in store and immediately liked it. The only problem is that it is out of stock in store and for online orders :(

You can also lean back and lock in different positions and it will stay there by pushing in the lever.

How was your experience?

4:27 For my other not North-American people (and much Canadian): that's 48 cm deep and 54 cm wide. And 110 kg.

I've just got this chair, luckily the entire bottom spider frame and castors from my old chair fitted the gas strut of the matchspel, those locking castors are HORRIBLE. It also reduced the minimum height by a few inches which has made it better for me

I do agree the locking Castors are an annoyance. Especially for active movers. I may switch mine out too

Bought this chair before I went off to college, and one of my roommates sat in it and locked it on accident. This video was insanely helpful as I got it pre-built with no instructions

i tried this chair at ikea and i thought this chair was more comfortable than my current omega secret lab chair. haha.

"Not as good as Secret Labs chairs"? Alone the lumbar support makes the Matchspel way superior, racing chairs are meant to drive through curves with your car, not to sit hours on them for working/playing. I swapped my overpriced DX Racer King for a Matchspel, best thing I could do.

I have this chair, and my advice is - don't buy. The seat has a weird decline which means you constantly feel like you are slipping down. The armrests are super hard and slippery, it's pure plastique. The worst part of this chair is - if you don't lock the back in position, then you'll lean backward and you'll have to crane your upper back to reach for your keyboard or mouse, which results in shoulder blade pain, it has happened to me a few times already since last year. If you lock the back, then the back support is harder than a dining chair, so what's the point?

Huh, I thought I posted on your video but I guess not. Your video was one of the videos that convinced me to buy this chair and I love it EXCEPT that it hurts my butt. To fix this I got a Purple brand seat cushion, the second largest as the largest was too big for this chair, and that fixed the problem. I couldn't sit in it more than 20 minutes before but now I can sit hours in it.

I haven’t had this problem. Maybe because I am very light. You may need to add a pillow between the spine and the mesh.

YESSS HAVE HAD THIS TWICE!! IVE SAT IN THE SAME CHAIR (but 4 different ones of the same chair) IN THE SHOWROOM NOT ONCE DID IT TOUCH MY BACK. Even my bf who is atleast THREE times my weight!! We’ve bought 2 and it keeps touching my back. Tempted to just ask for the fucken showroom one lol

@@QuantumKayos Have you tried contacting IKEA about it? It feels like a defect in the mesh backing. I'm still waiting on their reply. The chair is barely usable by placing a thin seat cushion behind the lower back.

I really really want this, but the only problem is that its out of stock >:(

I bought the chair, assembled it at home and returned it back a couple of days later. Why?. Well I'm 184 cm high and 83 kg. The problem is my back bone is hitting the metallic bar on the back of the chair almost in any position, but specially if you lean back, and that was my case.

Sorry to hear. Chairs are really something that you have to try in person. Everybody's got a different body type

I liked the chair for about 1-2 month, until the cushion failed, after that if I used the chair for more then 10 min, I started to feel the wood under the cushion and is really uncomfortable. The lumbar support is a joke & the head rest is bad for my (& my wife's posture); I took of the head support because I started to get hunched. Also because Ikea 'loves' his customers, after I took of the head support, I was left with some metal and I need to be carefully while leaning back because, there's chances to hit that metal. My wife hates the back support, after sitting more then 30 min her entire back start to hurt; (she tried to adjust the chair for her but without success; she's 164cm and I am 170cm). I am not saying that for example Markus is better as working chair, from my point of view is more uncomfortable. The Ikea chairs are just bad for ergonomics; For me they felt like a stopgap until you can afford a real chair. If you already have a decent chair, don't 'upgrade' to this. Take care of your health & your money.

@@ghajik. Short answer, no. Now I use a Harman Miller Embody, and it feels just like a small upgrade for a big chunk of money. What it does better, the sitting area is much comfortable. That's it. The lumbar support is trash also. For the moment I don't have any recommendations. I tried the Harman Aeron, but it hurts my legs with the plastic used on the edges of the sitting position. I think I tested all Harman Miller under 2500 euro. At this point for me I am thinking to get a height adjustable desk with an armchair. I am so sad. Also, I have friends over 1.85m and they don't like either the IKEA chairs. I have tho a suggestion for you, a chair used for a second setup that I have, IKEA millberget, it's fine, usable, better than Markus or Jarvfjallet at least for me, but a bit under the Harman Miller Embody. Great for the money. Take care!

any chance you can confirm the width between each longitudinal axis of the arm rests? I find they are so wide most of the time rendering the armrests unusable for support.

Nice video. I think for this price there better ergo office chairs on Amazon tbh.. i find the ikea chair very overpriced for what u get.

lol wat. Sure you can find cheaper but they will always be trash and break after a month. At least with ikea you know it will last. Please stop with the crack pipe. I have looked through all amazon ergo chairs and literally all of them have some fault in them, or they break after a month or end up causing back pain. That's the whole reason I chose Matchspel

I think it will hold up. It is more faux leather than my old chair which fell apart after 6 years. This should hold up to jeans and harder pants

All it has is a mesh back for support. Nothing against your lower back or adjustments for the back.

The seat cushion is way too much flat, with no tilt back (only with back together). When you seat - you even feel like it's slightly tilted forward, and your butt slides down... Any thoughts how to fix this, if i want to keep my spine straight?

The only way I think is getting a high quality ergonomic seat cushion.

That's actually good for your back. The waterfall edge tilts your pelvis down slightly, which forces you to recruit your core more to keep your back straight. You actually find this on a lot of high end ergonomic seats. If you don't like it though, you could probably just get a seat cushion to put on top. It'd lessen the waterfall edge, and probably add more friction. You could also consider the Jarvfjallet chair instead.

You are absolutely right. In the store though, I did not feel this way but when I assembled it, it seems exactly you described which is a bit of a letdown. (Were you able to resolve this?) I could never get to hear the clicking sound when I put in the wheels/ rollers. Another issue.

There is a metal bar and the backrest is a soft mesh

I think it depends on your weigh really. Remember there is no lumbar support so its just mesh and then the steel spine. so if you are on the heavier side you may bend the mesh into your back.

@@SHELTECH4 I am 70 kg (~150 lb) so I think I’m pretty average. However my spine remains very flat when sitting, I think I’m carving steeper on the mesh than intended. After reading many reviews on reddit I guess it’s not my fit 🤷‍♀.

You can replace the wheels if You find ones that fit the holes on the base

After over 1 month using it, I can´t recommend it... I feel pain in my legs and the seat is simply not comfortable (it probably puts some pressure on my legs), which is really sad because all other things are perfect on this chair.

after some time of sitting, the back begins to freeze. I use a sheep skin to keep my back warm)

any leather chair except the most premium of premium chairman of the bank chairs, is gonna strip just like your old chair, think about getting fabric next time.

Agreed. all though this is a harder faux leather than my old soft faux leather chair. I think it will still wear out but not as soon as my old chair. Fabric chairs get stained easy in my house. LOL!

@@Breakhoven it is very similar to Markus... Matchspel is better and more modern looking, Markus more classy and older... but comfort will be the same more or less (Markus has a lumbar pillow which hurts me)

Ikea does not try to make the best chairs, they try to make the best chair for any given price point

I was able to assemble it myself with no difficult and I am not an engineer or a put-it-together expert. The chair is super comfortable, I play video games for roughly 3-4 hours at a time and it does not make my back hurt or neck hurt. The Reclining function actually surprised me because it goes very low, you could fall asleep on it ( and in fact i have while laying on it with a foot rest for my legs). The red is a bold choice and I usually stay away but I love how the red and black contrast looks on this type of material. The wheels on this chair are very very quiet, I have wood vinyl in my apartment and there is absolutely no noise. OVERALL, I WOULD RECOMMEND or BUY IT AGAIN !
