New Hydrofoil stop work meeting 1984

Ойын-сауық

Stop work meeting for Master's regarding introduction of new "second generation" hydrofoil "Manly" in 1984 held onboard "Curl Curl" at No 2 Jetty Circular Quay. This period in the early 80's saw significant investment in the Manly Ferry service for the first time in decades with the introduction of four new 1100 passenger "Freshwater" class Manly Ferries and two new 235 passenger 37 knot hydrofoils. A third hydrofoil was to be built under license at Carrington Slipways in Newcastle but never eventuated due to very poor reliabilty of the new "Manly", the first of her class of the RHS160F series. Sisterships in Italy operated reliably and successfully for 20 years on longer routes which they were designed for, not a 10 minute trip to Manly.
