Inarts hair isnt as detailed as hot toys. For me the eyes are way too big and close. Rooted is better though, but the sculpted version I would think Hot toys is better

I agree, the sculpted hair looks better in this instance. I feel the same way about the 1/4 Queen Studio Joker, the rooted hair on that had too much volume. As for the portrait, while I like the skin texture, paint apps, and the effort to add the trademark tongue, I just don't see Heath in the majority of those images. The eyes, forehead, nose and the shape of the head look off. Hot Toys simply cannot nail Heaths likeness, which is a big disappointment given the exceptional job they appear to have done with the rooted Anakin, Bane 2.0 and what they did achieve with Bespin Luke. Having got my Inart Joker the other day, I can say that the head is not too big. For some reason, it looks well oversized in photos/videos, making him look out of proportion and stocky, but in hand, the head looks just fine, as does the overall proportions. I agree about the eyes, they are seated a fraction too deep in the sockets and when centered, the Iris' look large and dopey, moving them to look up/up-right/up-left makes a HUGE difference. Overall, the Inart double pack figures are great - hair, sculpt, paint apps, tailoring, proportions... all exceptional. The bodies have a nice weight about them as well.

I have the dx11 and got the inart sculpted version. I have the dx11 displayed with his laughing headsculpt, sitting on his chair alongside the Inart version. Those are more than enough for me. The laughing headsculpt still holds today and I like that one more than the regular sculpt from the dx11. But for those who missed out on the Inart one-there is no question- GO FOR IT!!!

Excellent new video Dean. If I ever was to get a figure from The Dark Knight it would be this. With all these details and accessories I think this is a great value for collectors.

@@ShadyDBZ4 The sculpted set is going for just over £300/ ($400) at OneSixthKit, which for a DX isn't too bad. That said, I'm a little disappointed the set didn't come with a second headsculpt, both the DX1 and DX11 did. This is not surprising though, I expect HT continue to rinse the hell out of Heaths Joker. Why? Well going by Hot Toys Offical video covering this figure, @3:38 in the video, the project director said, "I don't know if Hot Toys will release other versions in the future (?? really??), but taking this (new sculpt) as a starting point, I think it is very brilliant". I have both sculpted and rooted Inart joker and both are the best you can get the head sculpt is amazing.

I will be getting this, I do agree how they should have did the hair differently and the jacket more dirty. But hot toys nailed the color of the shirt over inarts and i love inarts joker. But with the way these preorders go, I'll probably only grab the sculpted. I really would have loved a nurse joker though. No one has done that yet. But ill be grabbing one of these cause of how much I love heath( last I think I will.be very happy with the sculpted) 4k units of the rooted so with the way sideshow does things I'll be going with the sculpted now for sure.

It's a Hot Toys figure, so I'm sure that it will turn out fine 🤷‍♂️ but what a missed opportunity to do something innovative and interesting by doing this release as the "Nurse Joker" costume...that would have been something magnificent 🎉

The photos of the hot toys joker here just don't wow me like when inart first announced theirs. That hairline is off for sure.

Great video! I agree that the rooted one has to much hair. But i guess Hot Toys will fix some things till the release and i bet that they try to be better than Inart, now Hot Toys has a real competitor.

Hey there my long lost friend . I always wonder with all these Jokers that keep getting released if there is room for improvement . Not a fan of rooted hair in 1/6 , it never looks quite right , often too much hair and hard to control . Sculpted hair is always the best choice . This figure does look good with all the same accessories and the sculpt is great but it was great a few figures back . I dont mind rereleases for the new comers but all HT did here was rearrange the same chest pieces and raised the prices accordingly

It's always a pleasant surprise to see you in the comments, and pleasure reading your thoughts. I hope you're doing well Curtis. I believe there's always room for improvement, one step closer to perfection. Hot Toys has never nailed Heaths likeness to the extent which they have other characters, and actors. I'm thinking, BD Robocop, Yondu, Thanos, Anakin, DX08, DX09, Jack Sparrow and quite a few more. I've just got the rooted Inart set, and while I consider it outstanding in many ways; the new benchmark, it can be bettered. Looking at Deans slides of Heath in his costume/makeup test, Hot Toys and Inart are still a long way off from truly capturing his likeness 99%, be it the hair (volume, length, hairline, and colouring), his eyes (the toughest part), and even his physique - Inart gets very close and the Queen Studios 1/4 statue nailed it. For the likenesses, I would score it something like DX11 - 5/10, Enterbay - 5.5/10, this new Hot Toys - 7.5/10 and Inart 8.5/10. Imo, sculpted hair is great for short hair at 1/6 scale (check out the new 1/6 Superman prototype by Inart!). But for long hair, rooted can look great at 1/6. Many high end customs nail it. Inart have almost nailed it (their rooted Jokers are still a little generous with stranding - Heaths hair was not that thick and full). Then we have the upcoming Inart Gandalf and Aragorn which border on perfection to my eyes. I tend to look at this topic on a case-by-case basis, and so naturally, I would have been in full agreement with you after owning a few Hot Toys Black Widows, Wonder Woman and Catwoman, the plastic stranding is mediocre, and the plugging crude, certainly not giving off a high-end impression. Asmus then came along with their Gandalf which was a large step forward, and now Inart has taken things even further, which in turn has led to Hot Toys upping their game. Their rooted Anakin looks great, their new rooted Wonder Woman (and now this Joker) needs a little extra work.

But enough about me , i dont really take part in any figure videos or collecting anymore , other then a 1/4 Spidey i bought a couple years ago and is still in the box . Please dont be upset with me for my lack of support , its just i dont have much to add but i do see your name in the comments and always at least give a thumbs up . Now this Joker , it came up in my feed and because its my boy Dean and the Joker i had to give my 2 cents . I mean really another Joker , is HT shooting blind here or is there a market and a demand for yet another Joker although with re, re , releases they save money and alot on retooling so even if they dont sell alot its not as much a financial loss . I dunno, it always seems as though the most decent people suffer the most in this life. I could never get upset with you Curtis, especially on social media which is not real life, something which is infinitely more important and demanding. Going back to the Joker, I believe there will always be a demand for this character because of Heath's incredible portrayal. Factor in the continuing rise in quality, improved likenesses, and that more people are joining this hobby everyday; bottom line I believe HT will do good business with this piece. Dean, hopefully, HTs will see this video, and fix bulky hair / hairline.. agree 100 % on the non-vibrant purple jacket. Seeing your film photos next to the figure, the jacket really seems way too clean. Needs that grime. I do love the sculpt and overall presentation.

I think they’ll update this over time. It’s not coming out for another year. Look at the backlash for Spider-Man 2099. They corrected that blunder and now he has a suit on him now. I can’t believe they tried to pull it off with him looking like a SH Figurearts figure.

Coming to hate hot toys right now, it's now a company that doesn't do buisness FOR their customers like in the past. These are old ripoff of previous figures, Joker had it's time, now it's Inart a new fresh company with some ideas and cool adds. I will continue to support InArts for sure.

I think you covered the minor mistakes well. The lack of weathering seems to be common with Hot Toys. I went with InArt Battinson because of the lack of weathering on the Hot Toys Battinson. Weathering makes the figure feel more real and alive.

That comes with the diagram of base that was shown in the first picture

Yea, with you showing the stills from the movie, both inart and ht outfits don't seem weathered enough. Everything should have a grungy look. But thanks for your thoughts. Appreciate the video.

​@@ShadyDBZ4"How so?" Hair is too thick, hairline not receded enough, hair cut too tidy (needs to look greasy/unwashed. Shape of the head needs to be a little more narrow and oval in shape, not so squared. Something looks off around the forehead (not sloped enough too protruded) and brow section. Eyes are too small and the likeness within them is off. Physique is too chunky. It needs too look slimmer, more lanky, especially in the legs. Basically if you do a "spot the difference" between the real life photos and the figure, you'll see that many aspects are off. It looks like someone else, a cosplayer, is in Heath's make-up and clothes. It's a great looking Joker figure; the detail in the portrait/paint apps are very impressive, it's just not a great looking Heath Ledger Joker imo, and is a distant 3rd to the Inart release and the JND prototype.

It’s their 1st Artisan line and they can’t put it out as is if they want this line taken seriously. Inart basically birthed this line from Hot Toys. I’d also add they should use better clothing material to separate it from the sculpture version to make it more premium than just the rooted wool hair. You were very detailed in your reply and I’d like to give you your flowers for that sir.

Well Dean collectors today are not like they were 10 years ago. You and I are both OG's in this hobby. We were happy to be getting the figures that we got. Yes some of them required a little TLC and some custom options, etc. Now this Joker looks pretty good I'm not going to lie. You're comparing photos that Warner Brothers took or DC. Where they're in a studio taking pictures of Heath in his costume. With bright lights it's hard to compare that to a figure that's going to be in your display case or on a shelf. I have the inart Joker with rooted hair and it's fucking amazing. Yes I could do a little fuzting with the hair if I want to. But I think it looks good just the way it is. Now if you want to go to the custom route, you can pay out your ass and get all custom shit and then you can flex and say I have this custom figure and I have that custom blah blah blah cuz it's all about who has the better shit nowadays. And that's how fucked up the hobby is in my opinion nowadays. Nobody's in it just to collect and then share your collection with other people and admire their collection. 😊 Share tips and tricks with other collectors and help other collectors . I still do that, and I miss the old days

Having recently bought the DX 19 figure, I am eager to have this one but the lack of alternate laughing head sculpt and diorama base really puts this below the DX 11. Paying extra money for the DX 11 on the aftermarket seems like it is worth it.

I'm gonna buy sculpted version and I'm just happy to have options. I offered 341 for dx 11 now I'm happy the seller declined the offer 😅😅😅

@@johnniner8134 I just feel since it will be an exclusive limited run of 4,000 worldwide they’re going to get greedy. I’m curious how many they’ll allot to sideshow since that’s the only place I order my Hot Toys. 🤔 That’s good you’re into both of them. If I can’t secure the rooted I’m going to pass. If you add it to your wishlist on sideshow you can see the ETA is July-Oct 2024 for release. At least that’s enough time to pay it off with the payment plan. Hope you can get one for yourself.

For me the dx 11 is still the good standard for a dx joker but the hair is off on this new one for hot toys and bulky body needs to be leaner

The tongue thing was actually a real thing and not part of the acting. The prosthetic lip scar areas were both itchy and felt like they were falling of so Heath was always “licking” them. Great video!

The larger eye's of the InArt figure make the InArt figure look better. The Hot Toys figure looks better than previous Hot Toys Ledger Joker's. Maybe next time (assuming there is a next time) Hot Toys will get it better. For me, an easy pass. Besides, i own the Queen Studio's 1/4 statue of Ledger Joker ^_^

The likeness is off. Inart's is definitely superior. It's good to see competition, though...it's about time Hot Toys were challenged to do better.

I'm glad HT finally feels like trying after 5 years of half assing most of their releases, that said, I could not be less interested in yet another Ledger Joker I'm fine with the dx11 which I still have

What throws off the look is the hairline forehead corners not receded enough. If Hot Toys doesn't fix this, it doesn't stand a chance against the Inart figure. Except that it's more affordable.

I don’t like the expressions they chose the dx11 is the ultimate 1/6 joker in my opinion

no offense but i think you're nitpicking too much on the hair. i still like this release prolly because i missed out on 1.0. moreover i think a less "balded" joker looks good too.

No he isn't. It's a very important detail, and when done wrong, it throws off the likeness. Heath's hair was thinning and receding at the time. His Joker also had a messy, greasy look to the hair. Every manufacturer never gets this right, even Inart, with the hair being too thick, the volume too high and the hairline too "generous". The real life photos Dean used in this video fully underpins his point.

@@kiynuhcnat Oh I get what you're saying. He did repeat himself a tad (something I'm guilty of on many occasions). I suppose it's because the hair is the thing which stands out to Dean the most as he comments on each picture.

Teet are removable not magnetic

InArt Joker eyes are weird. Like doll eyes. Too deep. Hot Toys eyes looks way better. Too much hair but that can be easily adjusted. InArt eyes can't be fixed.
