Sister tried to rename her adopted horse for two years, then reverted to it's old name because the horse responded to it. It remembered, despite the initial effort to change. Welcome, Ziggy!

He's got shelter, all the food he could want and a new rug that keeps him dry. He's going to be just fine. Ziggy is a cool name for a cool gentleman.

❤Tiny has the right idea about the sudden snow. I have really enjoyed watching Ziggy get snazzy since he arrived, and I really appreciate that he appears to be better bred than the overly dish faced brachycephalic version the Arabian breed seems to be turning in to. He is much more like the ones I knew growing up.

LOVE the Name!!! I rescued a GSD DDR, best natured, behaved dog I have ever had. He weighed what I always said I wished I weighed, 129 pounds. I named him Bowie in honor of David Bowie. He was such a Good Bowie

Ziggy is a great name! It was the name of our horse, then we sold him and the new owners changed his name 😕oh well, we had confidence he would get great care. He was just too much for our daughters who had been working with him alongside the previous owner, who was training the girls how to continue with him. Live and learn. Loved Tiny's gratitude for a warm spot on a yucky, cold day! Blessings to you, CC, for the continued healing of that ankle 🙏

Arabian horses can carry a surprising amount of weight for their size. Plus they don't stand still for long so they are a natural for endurance or competitive trail riding. And they can go for days...

Arabian horses are reknowned for their fine bone structure and immense strength and endurance! Also, we have zero clue what his admirer is breedwise but I wager some warmblood for sure with her height and build. So not an accurate comparison.

My uncle has BLM mustangs in northern utah if you ever want or need one for someone! He works with the BLM to get horses adopted out and has a small holding facility at his ranch!

I am new to your channel and really enjoy all of the horsey news. But what I really love best are the mountains and valley. I was born and raised in that valley in those foothills. lol! I love his new/old name ~ and it's cool that it fits him already. Poor Tiny. We all get a bit disgruntled when the promises of Spring get set back. Even here in Ohio we have some chill breezes flowing in from Canada, so back to sweatshirt weather.

Jiggy Ziggy the perfect Arabian ❤. He is so well built. Shoulders that go on forever. He will do very well in endurance competition. You should try compass reading competition's to get him and you ready for the great rides...Don't let his perfect small size fool you. He can find a bottom when you think he's tired and go more. Reading them is key to know when to stop them because thier heart is that big. They don't know how to give up. People forget, they were bred to be a family and warrior horse. Designed to travel hundred miles to a fight and travel back to the family in the desert..sit deep and confident with this one and watch him change your mind about his loyal breed❤

He looks so much like my mare Annie. She was a flea bitten grey Crabbet Arabian from Raffles’ line. She had done endurance races in her early years before I got her and had an injury from that time. I had her for her last years and she was a wonderful friend 🥰

'Ziggy' is perfect!! I think perhaps maybe not this spring or summer but in the year to come having him do endurance rides is going to be great! I do think he's gonna make a really great pony horse. As you've said previously, he has been in hers and he knows how to deal with young horses who lack manners. I really really do think, in the long run he is going to be the bedrock of your barn. He proves every day what a citizen he is. I'm so glad he's there with you and I'm so glad that we can follow this journey.

Names have a way of sticking no matter who tries to change them. I adopted a big orange male kitty from a local cat adoption place. They'd gotten him off the streets as a marauding stray, unneutered male causing all sorts of havoc in an otherwise peaceful area. They'd named him Morrissey, a derivative of Morris the Cat who was famous a while back. Every time I tried to say "Morrissey," it came out "Tom". So, Tom is it. His Majesty Thomas Lawrence Morrissey the First. Hard to fit into the limited digits on veterinary records, but that's their problem. Ziggy is good. Ziggy will be Ziggy no matter who calls him anything else. I suspect he'll have a few other names just as Nigel is "That Little Turd" on occasion. He looks like an elf in his green raincoat. See, already he's Ziggy the Elf to at least one fan.

I have no idea who Ziggy Stardust is (probably showing my age). There used to be a comic strip called Ziggy about a very plain sort of Charlie Brown character who always had some sort of unexpected thing happen to him. Yet he always had a good attitude about it.

Nice! Ziggy sounds like the name of a horse with a big, ground covering trot out with lots of impulsion. Hope it’s true. Ankle: got trained on doing Rock taping after healing up a broken malleolus. Really helped.

From my Competitive Trail Riding days over a decade ago, we had some people who did endurance also. If I remember right they aren't all 100 miles in 24 hours. Some are about 25 miles. With that "little" guy (I prefer them on the short side), it wouldn't take long for him to get legged up enough to do one that short. However, Clever Cowgirl, pay attention to that ankle! The last thing you want to do is ride that long on a just beginning to heal ankle. Especially if you choose to ride 2 point at the trot. after I broke my ankle and crushed my foot on the same side, it was hard for me to do too much trotting in that position. And you don't know how much it hurts until you dismount. We have a joke in Competitive Trail Riding when we present our horse to the vet judge, they'll sometimes says, "Horse is sound but the rider is a grade 3 lame." It's really funny when you see some of the really good riders on horseback, get off and have it take a few strides before they can walk correctly.
