New Honda Grom: Kenda KD1 Tire Install + First Mountain Ride Review = DAMAGE!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Today, we install some new parts on the 2022 - 2023 Honda Grom 125: Kenda KD1 tires! We also take the Grom up the mountain to see how well these sticky tires can hold the road and we go over my first impressions in comparison to the stock Vee Rubber and Michelin Power Pure tires. Then we end up with some damage to our 2022 Grom / MSX 125 belly pan and more! We've still got a long ways to go though so we'll be throwing even more modifications and aftermarket parts at our 2022 Grom SP in the near future for more horsepower, better handling and to also help her look a little better too while we're at it so make sure to subscribe for more!

    Just got the KD2’s on today, they turn drastically faster than the Dunlop TT93’s I was running. Feels like the grip better too right out the box! Was worried about the break in on these being slippery since they’re basically a “rain” race tire. Big time upgrade! Also nearly half the cost of Dunlops TT93’s is just be careful that first 50 miles or so how quick these tires lean in.

    Hopefully soon, these stock adjusters are an absolute joke. I'm on a tighter budget than I used to be after losing my job at the start of the year as much as I hate to say it so I've had to cut back and not go ham like I would've wanted to on the Grom. That's why I was probably a little more aggravated with the damage than I would normally be lol! Glad to see another guy happy with the TST adjusters though, have yet to hear anything negative about them. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on them too. Hopefully I can get my hands on a set of them soon!

    @@HondaProKevin I figured there was a reason because they are a joke like you said. Sorry about your job. Keep your head up though…. there’s lots of jobs out there and you’ll be back at it soon enough. Sorry about your belly pan. I know you put a lot into it. I’ll probably get the same pan for my SP but it shouldn’t be nearly a problem with fitment as I’m getting the dual Yosh which has a straight header. Not 100% I’ll even go with a belly pan yet.

    Thanks bud, really appreciate the kind words. I'm trying to run with this HondaPro Kevin stuff right now and taking it full time, fingers crossed I can stay involved with the industry I love and support my family at the end of the day. I just don't want to put 15 years into another dealership, treat it like it was my own and it all be gone at the drop of a hat. That long term goal was within reach but gone so quickly. I can't fault the owner though, he came down with sudden health issues and had to close his family run business of 56 years which couldn't be easy. So I really can't complain, things could always be worse and we're never guaranteed tomorrow so I'm going to make this work. I don't want to work a job I don't love, so this is going to work. Failure isn't an option! I'm sorry for rambling on, it's late and I guess I'm in a motivational mood lol. Probably edit this when I wake up in the morning lol! Ohhh man, you're getting the duals? Those are so SEXY! I took about a 1,000 pictures of them at Small Bore this year. I'm hoping we see some more belly pan options come out soon, it's crazy we've only got I think 3 different options at the moment? Have you heard anything on your release date for the pipe yet? Have you seen them in person yet?

Last I heard, about a month ago, Yosh told me production mid November and shipping end of November. I am #9 on the list to receive mine so I should be one of the first. I’ll have the exhaust and DHM S1 soon to go with my MNNTHBX v3 mTake and aRacer Mini5 with AF2….. on Ohlins suspension….. and that should complete the main mods. Pumped for the duals!

    Coming from racing big bikes, always put heat shielding on the inside of the pan. It Is going to warp a bit due to the heat and expansion. Same thing happened on my 15 R1 with my race plastics. The heat shielding really will help. The Pipe is probably done for unfortunately. Happened to my 5k Akra :( sorry that happened.

    The bolts holding that belly pan shouldn't have backed out like that, they should have engineered something better. Send it back for replacement or refund. Glad your ok. Sorry bout the belly pan

  • @HondaProKevin

    @HondaProKevin

    2 жыл бұрын

    They could definitely have a better mounting setup in my opinion but I can take partial blame as I didn't put any loctite on the screws. However, with the way those screws are, I'm not entirely sure loctite would work that well. Before I try to repair the pan or get another, I'm going to throw it back in there and run it a few miles with something different to see if it'll work. Safety wire that thing on like it's getting prepped for racing lol! Thank you! I really liked how those shots panned out but wish I would've done a few more corners. I was super paranoid though with all of the traffic and just leaving my Canon behind with a big microphone on it that really gives it away lol. It's a shame we can't trust people not to run off with our stuff though. Lol it's wild that people can have that mindset to think they're in the right in a situation like that, had the same thing happen to me and you can't help but wonder how many idiots we have roaming this planet with us haha! It's crazy how many people just don't care though, nobody else matters. Whoops, didn't see you! How many times have we heard that in our lives. I think everyone in cars should be put on a motorcycle yearly and almost get ran over a few times to show them what it's like and maybe they'd understand when we do get frustrated. I don't know, I'm rambling on as I get worked up about this topic as I've lost friends and many acquaintances over the years due to people in cars not giving a crap about what they're doing and how it can alter our lives so quickly while they walk away without a scratch.

  • @HondaProKevin

    They're required, I just like to live dangerously lol ;) Normally I leave them on my bikes and use them but with the Grom all I can see are my elbows and every aftermarket setup I've tried vibrates like crazy to where they are pointless so I'm running without currently. I need to try some new options and see if I can find something I like that's actually functional but if I'm honest, it's not super high on my list of priorities and thankfully 99% of cops around here aren't going to say anything about not running mirrors. I'm glad they don't try and hunt for anything and everything to give you a ticket for on the Grom, unlike when I get in trouble on the CBR lol!
