New Holland 77 Baler In Operation & Walk Around - Richfield, Wi. Thresheree 2023

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This 77 baler was one of the highlights of the thresheree in Richfield, Wi. this year. (9/172023). Seemed right at home bailing up oat straw, hitched to a John Deere A. Great looking team!
Enjoy!

My grandfather had one of these. I was absolutely terrified of it until I got into my teenage years, even if it wasn't running I wouldn't go near it. when I finally got over that fear I loved to watch the thing work. Such a combination of noise and moving parts.

That would have had me nervous, as a kid. The plunger stopping would have made me jump. Lol! They sure are great to watch. Glad you enjoyed!

My father had a neighbor bale for him using what I remember being called a "Super 77" baler. Tractor was either a WD-45 or a Silver King with single front wheel. The Wisconsin was not easy to start and when hot would refuse to start. The neighbor's boys usually were the baler operator. They had only a fair understanding of the machine. The knotter gave some trouble and the baler got out of time once which proved very baffling to them. Otherwise this remains a good memory for me a young farm kid. Thanks for the video!

Grew up with one of them. Straight pipe on the old Wisconsin so you could hear when you were pushing it too hard. The hydra-formatic tension on that is neat, it was an option but the one here didn't have it. For the time it was built(Late 40's) the capacity on those was unbelieveable IMO.

We had one of these back on the farm, and earned extra money by baling hay for the neighbors who didn't have one of their own. At the time ( mid-50s) I think we got a nickel per bale. The one thing I didn't like about the machine was starting it, because sometimes the engine would kick back, and if you weren't on your toes, you could catch that crank handle right in the chops.

I hadn't seen one of these in operation before. From the front the dark paint and vertical stuffer makes it seem very old. However from the side, it looks almost modern in other ways. It sure processed the straw as one would hope!!

Neighbors had 4 77's, baled a lot of hay with them -as tpfromcentralpa 1692 said, you heard the Wisconsin in heavy hay - the old timers who had baled with stationary balers called the stuffer a chinaman, after the immigrants who jumped in & out of the bale chamber on the old time baler crews

It's possible. I had a yellow Gehl hat on & a gray IH shirt. Drove the self propelled Gehl chopper in the parade on Saturday. Sunday, if I wasn't in the Gehl tent at some point, I was taking video of the parade or the threshing or making this video. There's a parade video coming out soon & you'll have to look & see if you are in it. Regards!

@@ikonseesmrno7300 that’s cool! I saw a few with that hat on. I had my 460 utility there Saturday and 756 on Sunday. I was in the parade both days. I’ll look for those when they come out. I was hanging out with friends of mine all weekend and their part of the historical society

I haven't seen one in years. Last one I saw was in the brush along a field we farmed.
