In the actual story, what happened is that Ana shot first, but Widow's gear on her head protected her, and she survived. So, Ana scoped in again, and saw an undamaged Widowmaker, and froze up, failing to make another shot. Because of that, Widowmaker shot her.

The actual story, confirmed by blizzard is as follows: When she was about to take the shot, she hesitated because instead of seeing Widowmaker, she saw who she used to be - a friend of hers by the name of Amelie Lacroix. But she was brainwashed by Talon (Reaper's organisation) to become a sniper, and they slowed her heartrate (which is why she is blue). Ana couldn't take the shot, because she would be killing a "friend" and was conflicted, even though there was nothing left of Amelie in Widowmaker, only a shell of the person she once was. If you have any other Lore questions, ask me, I've memorised most of it :)

Judging by the conversation on that schematic of the sniper rifle it sounds like they both worked closely together, maybe involved in a lot of the same projects for Overwatch. They're also from around kind of the same area geographically so maybe they bond over that too. They both seem pretty chummy with Reinhardt.

Anas hair in the cinematic goes form its black to white after She is shot by widow maker , this means that Ana had to undergo a large amount of stress to make this change happened as if the body is exposed to a large amount of stress hormones in our body can change our hair color to gray or white , Cant believed i finally realized this , Props to Blizzard characters designers , and devs

yeah you could be right. My grandfather became grey/white in two weeks when my uncle died at birth. My father wasnt born when it happend but he could tell how much it inpacted the family. the stress and grief stayed with my grandfather till his death

oh yes. Widowmaker was originally the wife of an Overwatch agent. She got taken by the badguys, brainwashed and hit with a ton of mad science, then sent back to kill as many as she could. Apparently Ana had a shot at killing her and preventing the deaths, but screwed up.

I love watching this video, because it truly sounds like an actual story instead of something made up just for the story of overwatch. I love overwatch because it fills many rolls that a game should have. The gameplay is amazing, the game looks amazing, and it does have story. It's amazing. Thank you blizzard for this piece of art.

I get why they didn't animate this, that scene where Ana got shot would have been pretty nutty. part of her gun got blasted off and shrapnel went flying, blood went flying, she fell back screaming and clutching her eye, probably was a struggle to even get medical attention since she was in the midst of enemies, and all of her colleagues were dead
