New Guitar Day | Yamaha NCX3 Nylon demo by Mundo Juillerat | "Out of the Box!"

Unboxing my new Yamaha NCX3 nylon string guitar! This guitar is equipped with Yamaha's new Atmosfeel pickup system and it's awesome! BUT FIRST, I want to show you how this axe sounds acoustically by itself.
I stuck a simple dynamic mic about 5-6 feet away and played the NCX3 acoustically in the entryway of my house. No eq, fx, or compression! You do hear some reverb from my house though! (sorry it's on my voice too!)
Tell me what you think please?! And next watch my next video on the Atmosfeel preamp pickups!
Full disclosure: While Yamaha supplied me with this guitar, they did not pay me to make this video,

    Sounds good man! That spruce top, brighter than the cedar tops - nice crisp tone :-) I've always thought of Yamaha acoustic/electric guitars to be good workhorse guitars, congrats again and wishing you many good years ahead with this instrument! :-)

    Thanks Bill and that’s exactly why I went for the spruce- I wanted to try a brighter nylon sound. Most feedback I get from audio guys I trust is that the cedar is just too warm and harder to cut thru the band mix. We’ll see!

    Nice first Look. A beautiful Guitar. In fact i ordered myself one. Should get it next Week. Seems they added the Side Dots that you´ve mentioned. That´s a good Thing. I wouldn´t wanna miss them. Can´t wait until the Box arrives. Best Greetings from Germany :)

    Cool. I checked this guitar out in a store today. Sounds good, but I found, it‘s incredible heavy compared to my other classical guitars. In the store they said, it has to do with the technique inside. What do you think?

    Hello Mundo. I got the Yamaha NCX5. Thank you so much for answering my questions. Your reviews of the NCX3 convinced me to go for the next model up as I wanted the model with a European spruce top .The guitar is fantastic. It is so easy to play and I love it. The electronics are fabulous but it sounds great also unamplified. Best wishes and thanks again Michael Irelland

    I'm looking at buying an NCX3 and it says it has urea nut and saddle. How are you liking them? Thank you for this video and the next one - your demo of the Atmosfeel on a classical was very helpful. I've never had a classical with electronics and it looked weird to me with just 3 knobs. So thanks!

    Hey, there! Nice to see you here. If I wanted to learn guitar for the first time, would this or a similar model be ideal? I have some limitations with arthritis in both hands. I did try learning how to play guitar in high school and need to refer to a chord chart a lot.

    Hi Ana! This model is fantastic but there's also other options in the Yamaha NX guitar line to consider. For instance the NCX1 would also be a great beginner guitar. The nylon strings are very forgiving to beginner fingers. The price is around $439 ish (cheaper with Black Friday sales!) and you'll get a great long lasting guitar! Let me know how it works out for you?!

    After watching your demo videos, yesterday I got myself a NCX3X (the only one in the shop at Thomann here in Germany) which I think is a beautiful sounding guitar worth every cent of its price. Do you know how to remove that loose piece of plastic which is the label of the three knobs of the electronics? It vibrates during playing and it is quite disturbing. Is it necessary to remove the knobs themselves? Thank you.

    Awesome and congrats! The plastic piece removes very easy. You'll be surprised. Just pull it out from (underneath) the knobs.

    So I’m looking for a classical guitar for jazz and even gypsy jazz and I saw Bireli playing I believe the cedar version of this guitar. How does it compare to the takamine 135SC? Thanks for your videos they’re very good!

    Wow I’d like to see Bireli play this guitar! I sat beside him at his master class few years ago and I could tell you he’s not human! If the Takamini guitar that you’re talking about is the one I think it is then the neck of the Takamine is bigger and thicker. Thanks for the comment! Btw I play Bireli’s Made In France in the intro of my née secret weapon amp vid)

    Acoustically it sounds a little bright and crispy to me which is fine if u like that sort of thing. Do u think the cedar to would be less so?

    Hello, do you hear any noise in the guitar when you are playing? it seems to be the noise caused by the vibration of the circuit inside.

  • @mundojuillerat

    Hi, I hear no noise, and it does not have any extra vibration. I use it every night in a Cirque Du Soleil show and it's a workhorse. I love it! Maybe your thinking of the model that provides it's own reverb? Thanks!

    Hello! I’m considering purchasing this guitar and I wanted to ask about the dimensions of the neck. How thick is the neck from the fretboard to the back of the neck?

  • @mundojuillerat

    @mundojuillerat

    10 ай бұрын

    That’s a tough one since I’m not the most technical guy but…. It’s not as thick as a Takamine. But it’s a little thicker than a Taylor nylon guitar. Maybe along the lines of a Cordoba but not the same neck. I suggest you try it for yourself. Personally for me it’s just right and I have normal (not large or small) hands.

    THANKS FOR THE VIDEO, I WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT CORDOBA GK PRO NEGRA VERSUS NCX5 THANKS

  • @mundojuillerat

    @mundojuillerat

    3 жыл бұрын

    This is just my opinion. You should try out both guitars to see what fits your need. Also I have the NCX3 which is step below the premium NCX5.... Right off the bat I think the GK Pro is more of a flamenco guitar whereas the NCX5 is more of a standard nylon classical style of guitar. Both guitars are made of top grade material like European Spruce. I've played two Cordoba's professionally here in Las Vegas. My first was a thin Gypsy King (GK) model it played well and the preamp was great. It was a flamenco guitar that I could use for all styles because it had a pleasant "bite" to it. Two problems: 1.) I could not use the "mic" in the preamp at all. This was tested over a few large production shows and even a little bit of microphone would bring feedback into the equation. Big bummer because that was the sound! 2.) Vegas is a hard climate on acoustic guitars. The Gypsy King soundboard "shrank" which raised the action. I had a lot of work done on it to keep it in playing shape. Ultimately the wood moved so much my tech and I could not keep it intonated! I called the company and got no support as well. (Once again just my story) Then in 2019 when my personal guitar died I played a $600 Cordoba in the Le Reve Show. It was an in-ear environment so the sound from the soundhole did not matter as much as the preamp. Once again the soundboard shrank, and we could not use the built in mic. Our audio team also had to boost the midrange of that guitar's pickup system to make it cut in the house. Overall It did the job ok. Purely as an acoustic sound it was nowhere near the body and dimension I get from the Yamaha NCX3. So far I've had no issues with my NCX3. I do not keep it humidified and the wood has not moved at all. Sounds and plays great like a traditional classical. Also I can honestly say that the Atmosfeel pickup system is better for what I do. Sounds fantastic and I like the layout better. If you plan on plugging in your nylon string you owe it to yourself to try the Atmosfeel system. Thanks for the question and let me know what you end up with and why? Good luck!
