I love how harry is the only villain who didn't intend to harm people, he only cared about hurting peter and nobody else, so he's not really a true "villain". I mean, you could argue that this is freaking Spider-Man he's trying to kill, and that's a pretty big deal, but at the end of the day, as long as he got back at peter, there would be no need for him to continue being New Goblin, as opposed to Green Goblin and Doc Ock, who harmed a lot of people because they were driven mad by their own scientific endeavors, or Venom/Eddie who hurt people purely out of anger and jealousy. Sandman is complicated. At the end of the day he really only cared about helping his daughter, but he DID harm people in the process from what I remember. Harry only had killing Peter on his mind, and if someone got in the way, too bad. But he didn't deliberately make it a point to target innocent people. Sandman didn't do that either though, so really Sandman and Harry are kind of the same, actually. Only having one goal in mind, and disposing of anything that stood in the way, but not killing for no reason (Harry didn't kill anyone at all). Harry had an evil goal in mind, Sandman had a good goal, that's really the only difference. That's why they're my two favorite villains in these movies

you know sam raimis villains had noble goals goblin killed only the people ond the balcony dock ock killed people accidently in the hospital or the arms did that and there is sandman who only kills if its absolutely necessary and venom who just wanted Peter dead. In the end they all wanted to kill pete/spiderman but they where never bad in the end. Man the avengers killed so many people but they are the heroes is it. Tony and Banner was responsible for Ultron. The fight in New York so many people died because Hulk wanted to smash, Iron Man killed people who he wanted to. Spiderman is the reason that they are the villain without spiderman maybe green goblin wanted to punish those who where responsible for the injustice system. Dock Ock wanted to create a better world with endless energy. Sandman wanted only to cure his daughter and Eddie wanted to love and live the live he wanted to. We all have goals sometimes we chose a path good or bad whatever it takes. Spiderman is a mindless hero he wants to protect at all cost. But sometimes only blood can wash off blood..m

I wish this was like Harry Osborn comicbook identity in the comics because the name, suite, wrist blades, and sword of the New Goblin are badass, even though technically he is the second Green Goblin. in the comics.

I never understood how underrated was his first appereance as Goblin... I watched that movie maybe 50 times and I everytime cant get over his entrance

Call me crazy, but I personally would have preferred it if Sandman was cut out entirely, and the movie just had the New Goblin and Symbiote arcs. Sandman being the one to actually have killed Uncle Ben, even if by accident, kinda detracts from a core aspect of Peter's character; his guilt that he could have stopped the man who killed Ben.

I appreciate the performance Topher Grace gave for it but, I agree. Venom was not very well developed. Same with Eddie Brock, he felt shoehorned in so they could get the most iconic villain in the movie.

It gave it a more personal feel to the story and he was a criminal who did bad things for the right reasons and he felt true remorse for the murder. He wasn't cruel for cruelties sake and that meant Spiderman had to start the confrontation (with the symbiote encouraging it of course) and it pushed the character development for Peter Parker

It’s essentially the Green Goblin’s theme, but altered. It’s as if the Goblin was reborn through Harry becoming the New Green Goblin.

I love 0:42 - 1:09, it reminds me of blaring alarms, something like his Spider sense going off. Ofc that wouldn't happen because it's Harry, but it's still a nice touch..

I can picture Godzilla stomping through a city while this plays in the background.

James Franco, This was a 10/10 plot and if spider man 4 did happen it wouldn't be the same.

Honestly, the film would have been incredibly strong if it focused solely on Harry vs Peter.

True, but there was sandman aswell. I think that after 2 successful movies with solo villains, having peter to face two villains who are involved with peter parker would have brung something very special. It was probably raimi's original plan before sony forced venom into the fray.

Venom can actually be in the movie, just not in a major degree. It could've been rewritten, so that in the final scene/ending of the movie, it would be Eddie fusing with the symbiote, before he turns into venom and jumps at the screen then cutting to black (like the clocktower part) as the movie ends. it would not only be a difference to the 'final swings' of th 1st and 2nd movie, but also sets up venom for spider-man 4.
