    Cheers for doing the review of a higher mileage ssangyong. I am currently looking at buying new here in Australia (sorry no sale from me) but after the fantastic video you posted I will happily look at a second hand truck.

    I believe the ssangyong manufacturing the best Ute and SUV at the market. Of course the price and the warranty considerations must be followed by.

    Great video, that's good to know that still going strong after 109k miles, and good as new too, I currently have a diesel jeep renegade I got on 5 years hire purchase finance, have 4 years left but definitely fancy one of these in 3 or 4 years time, be great for my camping and mountain biking, was going to Save a big deposit for brand new one , but after seeing this video it's actually making me consider getting a used one maybe 2 or 3 years old and probably be half the price of new one too, the musso Saracen 2024 in green looks amazing that be my choice in 3 or 4 years time 👌👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Brilliant video. My previous car was Lexus Nx so I was keeping my expectations reasonable when I goy my Rexton in 2020. I was totally taken off guard. Its quality cabin finish to quiet yet capable diesel and unexpectedly great handling mean it’s hard not to buy after test drive. Also explains why my brother who had owned 2020 Cadillac Escalade has sold it right after testing a 2021 Rexton.

    i have had 3 ssangyongs and all dependable and smooth quiet and refined. what i have found is delphi fuel injection. so my parts i buy from delpi, fuel filters water traps and oil filters all so cheap yet made for trucks. top stuff and all manuals for service found online. So stoked that its a car that can be serviced bt youself if your that way inclined like i am.

    ssangyong made defendable vehicles before SAIC's dirty works(2005~2009. Destroyed company and ran away with all those data and blueprints). they always considered better than hyundai before 2005. models lanuched on 2005~2006 had major rust problems.. nowdays they are suffering from damage of the past but they are trying to make defendable vehicles. since they value how long their vehicle lasts. and they are still more defendable than hyundai in long run.

    Agreed! Lot's of manufacturers have had periods of struggling with issues, but SAIC really do seem to leave quite a footprint. All the current 4th generation models are a world apart from those early models and show exceptional promise.

    As a South Korean I’m glad you know about the hardship Ssangyong had to go through because of Saic’s utter mismanagement and not honouring its investment commitments. Most Koreans like myself believe Saic was a IP theft as they did not have any 4x4 before Ssangyong acquisition but now they sell D90, T60.

    @@jinsei1202 over 4000 blueprints and many technical data were stolen according to ssangyong and prosecutor. they made R95 and W5, based on ssangyong's vehicles, without paying anything(they did not even gave money to develop those vehicles at first place). And it is recorded SAIC forced to make ssangyong to design their passenger car roewe 350 for free. And de facto kidnapped ssangyong engineers to china. They ran away from korea and they are protected by Chinese goverment. so SAIC never paid anything. And korean government(did not want to make this a diplomacy problem) and goverment friendly media said it's all ssangyong's factory union's fault that ssangyong fell. when occupation of factory was happened. As far as i know, Mahindra was not that better. They got their crossover platforms...and ran away. They said it's because covid19 and ssangyong's bad net profit margin ... But they didn't even put enough money on ssangyong in first place. since car companies need a lot of money to operate... I don't think they don't know about it sice they are huge and have motor company under them...

    As I commented in a previous video I am on my second Musso and still have the old MK2 which at some stage would like to restore to running order. Even though it sadly has been stored outside for a twenty three year old vehicle the rust is negligible compared to other brands so proof that they will take a lot of punishment and still look good.

    So I have 2019 and I was told I need a new air con compressor. Idk if the genuine part is trash but it’s a price of cheap thing makes me think the brand sucks

    Can't speak for Aus, but the UK stock is good. Like all manufacturers they have been hit by supply chain issues from Russia/Ukraine conflict

    We have got customers that both live near the sea and launch boats with Musso and Rexton. We have no issues with chassis or ancillaries, but we have had coils fail prematurely on at the rear, they seem to be just regular painted mild steel, so that's the only trouble you may have. Load space covers/hard tops are also not 100% waterproof, so driving rain can get in a little too!

    Ok, Ive had a hyundai 4x4 for 12 yrs and replaced 3 springs but the info screen is now rubbish along with rearview camera.. what has that. Had replaced..? What's the servicing costs?

    Nice to know the quality is there. I put a deposit on an EXL XLV the other day, bit worried about the lack of ANCAP rating though, since its going to double as a family car. Might have to lose my deposit and get the Dmax 👀

    The only reason they dont have the ANCAP is the rear centre sash belt. If you don't need a 3rd back seat then your sweet

    It’s got 5 stars from Kncap tests. No less stringent than Ancap to the best of my knowledge. In Korea Ssangyongs are not known for flashy tech but for solid build and reliability.

    No, in fact the later car has 205 bhp and 440nm of torque. Asin gearboxes remain though on all models (UK territory)

    My influence unfortunately! With 4 years 40k warranty it's much more value for prospective buyers than a high mileage truck out of warranty, but as we've seen, this truck would be fine out of warranty too! We've been inundated by buyers for this truck, it's really positive for the brand.

    Hi Paul, all down to saving cost sadly. Like everyone, rising wholesale costs have to be mitigated somewhere, therefore to prevent price rises, SsangYong UK has changed the warranty. They are now offering it as an upgrade though, it's £999 for 2 years and 50k miles on the Musso and £749 on Tivoli and Korando.

    You are in a ssangyong showroom saying that it's an excellent item you are mixing a car sales man and an honest review and in UK the kilometre is the distance unit not the mileage which is an American unit and with this distance even a range rover will be still looking good

    Hey you're absolutely right, I do have an agenda to highlight the quality of SsangYong in my position, however, it's pretty difficult to fake a side by side comparison of what is worn out and what isn't. It's quite clear that this truck looks great after a 10 year average mileage (10k per year) vs the Dmax and others mentioned. Not entirely sure what you're getting at regarding measurement units, but the UK is pretty upside down in this regard. We are metric for virtually everything except distance which is still imperial. Still, it's good to challenge, keep it up!

    To some extent you're right, however we do have evidence to back up any figures or claims we make , It's all as genuine and as transparent as possible. Give one a try and tell me I'm wrong!

    This is not a good example of longivity as the milage has been done in a relatively short time. Also using the bolsters as an example is also not relevant as a worn bolster takes place with high nos of going in to and out of the car and in this case this truck clearly did long journeys most of its time in its 3 years of life. The stone chip example is also not a good example as the car may have been doing motorway miles most of the time and not being driven on country roads with grit and sand everywhere. Over all this is not a good example of the quality of a Musso.

    I respectfully disagree with some of your comments Keith. In actual fact my customer did an awful lot of trips, short and long, think of his driving pattern as similar to a district nurse or similar, so plenty of getting in and out like any other high mileage scenario. Through experience I tend to find that higher speeds generally create more stone chipping than low speeds, especially on the higher areas like the bonnet leading edge and upper bumpers. Realistically, with the caveat that this example only has had sporadic light off road use, I think this example is a great advert for the quality of truck. I've seen many others that have been used in the same way which have proved to be a whole lot less durable, like the D-max as shown in the comparisons. Before he had a Musso, he had a V6 Ranger. That went through 2 sets of injectors and a new engine in the same period. Makes you think right?

    Yes, have to disagree. Even if you're correct and it's been mostly motorway, at 70 to 80mph you're going to end up with hundreds of stone chips over 110k miles. The interior has been 'respected' not hammered by someone who doesn't own it. I've seen bolsters on VW drivers seats worn and torn at 50k. I'm glad I didn't buy one in 2006. I went for a Hyundai Terracan, my only regret being I should have bought an automatic. They were on offer in Spain for 15k brand new so I couldn't resist. All galvanised except the roof!!!!!.

    Own a 2019, done 85K km, drivers bolster is a little bit of wear but has held up well, I think they wear quicker if people don’t rest foot on the running board and/or don’t have an A piller handle to take one’s weight while sliding across the seat. A few stone chips on bonnet leading edge (adding a plastic guard will assist to minimise). Very impressed with the build quality. It’s solid, nothing broken, buttons and mechanical parts all in good condition . Yes 85k is not high. It just does everything you expect and does it well.
