Before the renovation, Amarin Plaza was quiet. Now, it seems like everyone wants to experience its new and refreshed looks. I remember my first visit in 1985; I was amazed by the Roman pillars and gigantic sunroof. It was unlike anything seen in Bangkok before. Now, as I grow older, I'm not as eager to go to new places like this anymore.
Unbelievable! I remember the old mall - it was a bit dated. What a transformation. Thanks for sharing.
An old mall in a new distinguished look, very nice they renovate it. High quality video as always 😊👍🏼🤘🏼🇹🇭
We’re sorry to lose Amarin Plaza actually. Yes it was an older mall, but it was packed with unusual shops and an old-fashioned Bangkok flair. Now I fear it will just be another high-fashion mall, son-of-Gaysorn or something. And what about the Erawan Hotel, it seems to have lost the “Grand Hyatt” branding.

Yea, Bangkok seems to be falling through the cracks tbh. Soon there will be no reason to visit because it's just like everywhere else.

Renovate mall 😊
When looking down the electric steps it reminded me of iconsiam when I was there. This mall is looking amazing, can’t wait to see it finished.
The hotel looks like a mall as well. Amazing. Another great video.
Wowww hope they will grand opening soon 🎉
It had Thailand's first McDonald's I believe. Used to have a nice bike shop (Bike Zone) in there, as well as a shop that sold Ortlieb panniers and other bike bags.

That was probably the first McDonald's in Thailand. I used to be a regular customer at the bike shop before it moved to a new location. The owner is a foreigner, and the service provided by the staff was excellent.
สวยมากค่ะ ขอบคุณ วีดีโอ นี้ที่ทำให้ฉันได้เห็น 😊
That’s nice but I personally like “older” feeling malls. Amarin was interesting because it was a quiet getaway from the Siam Paragon / Centralworld area. I liked the McDonald’s and Starbucks here because it wasn’t as crowded.
When I was a child (about 30 years ago) the top most of the shopping center was an Italian Restaurant.
สวยงามมากๆคับ
Thanks Jeroen! Always good seeing you.
The atmosphere is great at this legendary shopping mall 1984 in Bangkok
So Very beautiful mall. 😮😊👍🎉🎊
They did a great job bringing it up to date
Thanks for the update Jeroen. 😃👍🏼
Will the new shops be more upscale, like the old Gaysorn mall? I never understood that place, always feel so empty when walking through it. The old Amarin was surely dated and in need for renovation, but I still kind of liked it. Has been sneaker shopping there several times and also ate at the food court. And my wife and I got our wedding rings at the Glitz Jewlry shop when we got married. 😊
Hello! Thailand
Thanks for the good video
Awesome 🙌 When is the grand opening?
Very Nice to see this Video, and yes, I eat my First Mac Donald Hamburger at that place. 🙏
Love the ceiling, stopped by yesterday….
Just check in well done for the vlog very informative concerning my trip this week to Bangkok 🎉😊,subs already
Erg mooie Mall Jeroen.
Thanks for this interesting video, Jeroen. You said "Erawan hotel". Is this the Hyatt Hotel?

Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel. It has an interesting history. The original Erawan Hotel was the first luxury hotel along Sukhumvit Rd. It later was torn down, and a much larger one was built on the site - the one you know today.

Wow
Former Amarin was bought and rebranded to Kaysorn. Now Kaysorn re-created a new Amarin.

Gaysorn means Pollen

just another magnificent mall in Bangkok
Next time, could you please take a quick look at the bicycle parking space and include it in your video? This would be very helpful for cyclists like me. I usually evaluate the safety of the parking area by checking the bicycle facilities anywhere I go. My best choice is Central World.
Wasn't it the first Mc Donald's restaurant in Thailand that was located in that building? I will miss that one. Was always nice to enjoy an Americano & a smoke at the terrace of that Mac, heavy traffic all around. You can't feel more urban like that ...
Hello mate 🙋♂️
😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Does their food live up to their claim?
The decoration more like a 5 star Hotel than a shopping Mall. How many officer workers can afford to buy anything in a luxury Shopping Mall? They run out of business ideas.
ขอบคุณค่ะที่พาเที่ยวชมคุณเป็นคนไทยละโปรโมทเมืองไทย😅😊
What a waste - more high end luxury brands most Thais or tourist won't go to. :(
Why, oh why, do you promote super elite shopping centres whose extraordinary prices exclude most Thai people?

I love this channel because he shows the poor and the rich of Bangkok. Different then the 100 bath street food challenge you see on all the other youtube.

I give updates about anything that goes on in Bangkok. The renovating and updating of a shopping mall is part of that. Personally I like the videos I make about the Bangkok Comunity Help Foundation for example more. I hope you watch that as well. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qneio7KmmsqdfKQ.html

@@adrianterrell8499 He Does Updates on New Construction and Events happening in BKK! Well I didnt see the price and it seems like office workers are paid enough seeing how they are going to this Food Court! This is an Old Mall that needed a Major Renovation and was quite dilapidated!
Bangkok has too many malls. Shopping outside on the street or at a market is superior; Bangkok is losing its culture and becoming stale.

I see your point, and I agree to some exstent🙂.But Bangkokians embrace modernisation- and visitors and tourists like Malls as well.

@@andersfant4997 There are malls everywhere, tourists come for the temples and night markets, not necessarily to shop inside a sterile mall. From my experience, Bangkokians *tolerate* modernization, as they have no say in what their government wants to do with their communities. Why would they "embrace" their villages being bulldozed for a resort that nobody will live in? Yea, the younger generation is ignorant, but the older generation of Thai are quite disappointed in what their country has become and I don't blame them.

@@thebabbler8867 Look at videos from the 80th, part of Bangkok has always been business like and in the forefront of development. Wages for 🇹🇭 upper middle class professionals are on the level of Singapore. There is money in town. Personally I have a modest interest in malls-but I have been to some. Tourists and visitors from other Asian countries think the big new malls is a pullfactor. The proof is in the pudding, investors built them.
