Funny, I do have an x2 for a OP6 I hacked windows 11 onto, but tbh the kunai controller for my rog phone is everything I personally could ever want. I dont plan on buying another android gaming device tho lol.

They've knocked it out the park with this one. Amazing design.

Man I got a X2 Pro last year based on the triggers alone, but the hall triggers and sticks combined with the better grip has me wanting to upgrade to this haha

The analog sticks look like a major improvement over the X2 pro

Finally, a decent update to their previous telescopic controllers. I'd pick one up for streaming games from my PC

My only complaint about these controllers is the Gamesir App needed for button overlay mapping gives constant security notifications and is super buggy when it comes to saving permissions. Also, you need to manually install the APK. I think this should definitely be mentioned.

Oh.. yes that was my experience with the app on the X2 🙏 hopes they would fix that... There seems to be updates in the past year. Mine is waaay behind in versioning.

I Just pre ordered this, I hope it launches and ships soon. I bought the Backbone a couple of weeks ago and will now be returning it to try the game sir G8 out. the ergonomics, the hall effect larger sticks and the spring-loaded sub c connector that seems to even fit phones with a case on for around the same price made this a no brainer.

@@BilaalM85 I love it. However my review won’t be that in depth as I didn’t have any others mobile controllers, so this is my first one. It’s all new to me since I am only used to console controllers but I have a friend who had the X2s and as soon as he held it he raved of the ergonomics. The software is a con for me. The tester works and it registers but the instructions on the mapping for the back buttons are too clear. I didn’t know if the software was up to date so I emailed cus svc and they responded but I think there was a language barrier. They did say that they will be updating the software and I didn’t want to give them too much fuss over it since it doesn’t officially launch until Monday. The app didn’t have the G8 listed. However other than that I enjoy it. Sorry that’s the best I can do since I am still learning. My friend did try to look for it on Amazon as soon as he held it in his hands and he is big on these kinds of gadgets. For what I know now after getting it, I would get it again in a heart beat. I do by mistake hit the back buttons that aren’t mapped to anything yet so once they are that may be a problem but for now it’s ok.

Insane. Every bit of feedback I gave on the X2 has now been fixed with this, and even that was a controller far superior than the Kishi (which I returned) and Backbone from the looks of it. Definitely an underrated brand imo

Been wanting this for months, just orderd one now i got a snap dragon gen 3. Thanks for the vid ETA, you made me go for this then a backbone.

mine died - also purchased after the old video - and "upgraded" to the V2 (again, after a few review vids). I should've stuck with the V1. The thumbsticks are atrocious on the V2.

really like the magnetic front cover, i usually like to switch out stick caps for ones that i like and would make it a lot easier to do some sort of notch solution for the analog stick which i really want on any controller

One of the most good looking telescopic controller.

Hey have you tried the 8S Pro with a smaller style case in this? My biggest pet peeve is these controllers not allow us to place our phone in them when they have even a smaller Spigen style case. They need some sort of spring system to enable bigger phones and a spring loaded USB C that will have some play when inserting your device.

This is really cool, I just wish the type c port was on the left side like the GameSir X2. I have a Z Fold 5 and I'd rather have the screen stick out the top for ergonomics.

Maybe once my gamesir x2 pro breaks on me but right now it is serving me well and 80 bucks is big to throw on another controller when the x2 pro does the same stuff. Still a great video and the controller looks cool

Similar to the X2 pro, the way they place the screenshot and macro button so close under the d-pad does get real annoying when playing fighting games, at 7:39 you can see it accidentally taking a screenshot while doing directional inputs. They should've just placed it under the right joystick with the home button to avoid interfering with the d-pad

As an Android user who have Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G phone, im glad those Gamesir G8 works on an Android too. I will first watch this video before I'll thinking buying of that nice looking phone handheld controller Gamesir G8. Normally im not playing with a smarphone but that Gamesir G8 would be my reason to be an interested of playing on a phone. 🎮📱

Thank you for making this wonderful tutorial. I just bought the Gamesir G8 and was trying it out. I have a question: how do you take out the phone safely? Do you have to wait until it goes into standby mode before taking out the phone. Also I have a hard time pulling the phone out of the movable usb port. Is the USB C port power only, or can it do data/video out?

Is there a way to get a replacement USB-c port on these devices. I have the Gamesir x2 Pro. One of the plastic nubs broke in and it makes it more difficult to connect to the phone as it doesn't stay still as easy. It would be nice to get replacement ports as its just a ribbon cable that connects to the board.

Definitely a good upgrade from my backbone gamepad. Sticks, triggers, and the buttons just doesn't really feels good on backbone

can you check the BSP D8? Apparently that controller fits up to 10 inch tablets, has hall effect analogs, and goes for cheap around $25 I think.

Im with you on the joysticks. I had a razer kishi v1 and loved it. I just upgraded to an iphone 15 pro max with usb-c and ordered a backbone and it sucks in comparison. Looking to pick this up but im curious if gamesir has the app also available on iOS? Is there a controller other than this one anyone recommends with joysticks similar to the kishi v1? Not a fan of Nintendo switch style joysticks.

The app is in the App Store. I just recently got an iPhone 15 pro max and after days of research I have come to the conclusion that right now this controller is the best option. I had the kishi v 1 and enjoyed it but dropped it in a puddle of water. I got the backbone and was not impressed then I found the gamevice flex which was just like the kishi but more meaty, better larger sticks, and I got to leave my case on the phone. I was trying to find the flex android version to use with the 15 but they are out of stock and don’t look like they are making any more So I ordered this game sir literally like ten min ago

On the gamesir X2 the USB port wasn't just for passed through charging if you plug the dongle into it it would allow you to charge it at the same time as well as it was a reader for micro USB. So when I was using this I was actually using it with my phone and I was playing my emulated games off of a SanDisk external thumb drive. Does this one have that same capability? Did you even know that the X2 was capable of doing this? Because it made it so much easier to play emulated games without having them take up the space on your phone it would be awesome if this USBC Port was also a reading Port not just a pass through

@@akaSM so with that being said if you plug in the game sir buy a USBC Thunderbolt to a USBC Thunderbolt port in the back of your TV it may work but I'm not sure as I never tried but power is power so you could give it a shot sure and then just try to connect a different controller to your phone's Bluetooth and then run it as a mini console. See I have a Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra and have only used the high-end Galaxy products which means I can just use Samsung Dex or the Smart View future so I never needed to hardwire it directly but in theory I don't see why it couldn't be done Powers power pass through his pass through I say go for it and give it a shot

does the iphone 15 work on the G-touch? or it is same that ONLY GAMES with SUPPORTED controller will WORK on the gamesir. Hope next time when review on IPHONE you added the CONS of G-touch not working on Current IOS for iphone and it cant Remap the buttons for games that dont support controller unlike Razer,

It will only work if you have an USB C Adapter. It should be work but mostly smartphones have non Jack port, because the energy directing from device to cable into your smartphone. You will be have a not so great experience, with that, because you can hear some sounds and rythms from that.

Is it possible to do emulation on an iPhone? I played with one before, but didn't have much success with it. Good video as always.

Yes; but, it's a huge pain in the rear. The easiest way, and the only one that doesn't require jailbreaking, is to install Alt Store. It'll require you to own a desktop computer AND you'll need to have your phone and computer on the same WiFi network once every seven days to renew the certificates, otherwise your emulators will stop working. This would seem to rule out using a public library computer; but, maybe not. Also, IIRC, you're limited to three sideloaded apps at one time and one has to be Alt Store, so you can only have two emulators. The other way is to jailbreak, install Cydia, then use that to install Retroarch. Note that I don't own an iPhone. I've been tempted at times though. Emulation is very important to me so that's why I try to keep up with them a little bit. If they were to make the process as foolproof and self contained as Android, I can set up every emulator on Android without needing root or a second device to help, I'd seriously consider seeing just how green the grass is in the Apple orchard.

How would you say this compares to the backbone?

They need g-force for iPhone. Only thing missing for me. An app like backbone would be great but it sounds like. This was so close to being the perfect controller for me. It does feel great in the hands. Someone mentioned a fan in the comments, think that would be great as well with some of these heavy hitting games coming to iPhone.

Got it and really liked it but the USB- C plug was too short to fit my phone in the case, so its useless I have to return. I can't be taking my phone in and out of the case 3x a day it is a huge hassle. Amazing they put all that thought into the design and didn't think of people using their phone in a phone case :/

You really shouldn't be gaming in a case on anyways. Cases trap in way to much heat. I notice when I remove my case my 23 ultra runs way cooler.
