New Fox RS Proframe Review

Спорт

We are looking at the New Fox Proframe RS in this video. A lightweight, DH certified mountain bike helmet with a few quirks, but, did they get it right this time? Does your's creak?

Great video. I have the old proframe and proframe rs. I have small helmet and all the things you mentioned I found to be accurate. I mainly use it on an electric dirt bike and the old proframe feels more comfortable (despite the creaking sound) vs the rs. Like you said, the rs, just squishes my head too much and they have 2 thick cheek pads that don’t help. I was thinking of getting the new proframe but it doesn’t have fidlock and on website it says it only comes with 2 cheek pad sizes. The old one came with 3 cheek pad sizes and the thinnest is the best. Hope you do a review on the new proframe.

Hey Alex, thanks for the info. I am actually thinking I might grab the new one to round out the reviews. I wonder if the cheek pads are interchangeable? I'll check it out and keep you posted if I grab the new non- RS version. Thanks for the comment.

@@RidingThruLife thanks! Hope you get it. The cheek pads with rs and old proframe are not interchangeable. I am betting the new proframe is similar to the rs. They have a better cheek pad clasp but only 2 thick sizes. While the creaking sound sucks on proframe, I can deal with it if it means better comfort than rs. Plus, I put AirPods (transparency mode) and hardly hear the creaking anyways. Where is the location of your videos and rides? It looks nice

Ahhhh, bummer. Ok, well, I still might grab one. If I get time tomorrow I'll go by my shop and see if they have the one I've been checking out. I'll see if any of the pads are interchangeable and what comes with what. Most of the riding is in the Sea To Sky/Whistler area, the thumbnail is on the Sunshine Coast in BC. Thanks again!!

@@RidingThruLife cool…looking forward to your comments/review/video on it. I’ve been to Vancouver. It’s really nice but expensive. This is coming from someone living in Southern California

Ha, yep, but I feel everywhere is expensive now. At least your dollar goes 30% further if you come to Canada!

I cant seem to fit my sunglasses(prescription lenses) on the RS. Is it the same for everybody? Old Proframe XL is perfect for my 59+cm head with just the right space for thickest pads and sunglasses. Tried both M and L on the RS and still no go.

@@oiyo5124 oh man, that sucks. I wonder if they changed the frame size? I’ll double check my Smith Wildcats in my large RS and report back. 👊

My first full face was a proframe. The lightweight super vented was awesome especially on the hotter days of park riding. But as I started getting better and riding more intense stuff I began to, and still wonder, how safe are these versus a dedicated dh helmet. I know they say they are dh certified but how do they stack up to a standard dh helmet?

Totally, I think a dedicated DH helmet is probably safer. I don't know how much safer, and what the different certs might be, but a DH helmet feels "safer" Once you start hitting Bike Park flow trail speeds I would want one on most of the time. I think for me, I wear a half shell for all of my riding outside of the park so why not have a little more protection? I am never going to peddle in a DH full face and the Proframe offers more protection than a half shell so why not? If you can handle peddling in them. lol I guess it's up to the user to decide if they trust it enough to be an "everything" helmet or have a DH helmet too.

I have a pro frame RS that I purchased when they first came out. It started creaking after 2 months of riding and its unbearable. Is this an updated Proframe RS?

Hey Hanslomo, I feel your pain, that creaking is the death of the helmet for me. I am not sure if it is an updated one, I am unaware if they changed the RS MIPS system, as all the RS ones I have seen have been the Integra System but they might have changed it. That's not to say it won't start creaking. I have only been riding my RS for a 3/4 weeks but so far so good. Which MIPS system do you have in it? I will definitely update if it does start creaking.

@@RidingThruLife I have the Proframe RS w/ MIPS integra split…. it is the loudest creaking helmet I have ever had. Even louder than the original pro frame.
