Nice Knife, thanks for the entertaining demo!
I don't have a lot of Schrades but the ones I've got I've beaten the crap out of and they just keep going.
..I was watching a video on the 40ld yesterday and was in love with it ..however this knife looks awesome as well..
That intro was great 😂. You're a good dad Leo. Schrade makes some badass looking knives.

Thank you kind sir! I just fun with this one. I completely forgot to mention that the blade goes in either way. Thanks for the reminder. I hope anyone that had that question sees your comment. Sláinte my friend!
Nice review.... Schrade makes quality products...
Very nice review.
Interesting video about a good knife ,by the way how do you join the Irish Zombie Nation
Nice vid! Good looking knife
Your videos are entertaining. I have recently watched a few of them over again including this one. I have to mention as Michael Vaccaro below posted that it's SK-5. I checked because like many of us, I saw it repeatedly listed incorrectly as 420J2. The separate pommel follows the design concept of the Gerber LMF2, but except maybe for better shock absorption, most of us may never need electrical isolation of the end from the rest of the knife. But it's a very nice budget substitute to the LMF2 series.
hiya, love the noises you made for destroying that rose.

That I did.
Nice video and nice blade
the knife is made of sk-5 steel, not 420 J2
I have been waiting so long for someone to review this knife because nobody new that Schrade had one without serrations. Its taken from the Gerber LMF2 design so I thought people would be really stoked to see that it was a straight edge. Awesome review always funny and relaxed completely "normal" LOL for some folks ;) Survival on purpose did the longer blade version but I really want that one, I would love to hear how well that edge holds up with some long hard use someday:)

this blades made from 420j2 steel though which isnt anywhere near as nice as gerbers 420HC. so its edge retention will be miles behind. i still may get one for its water resistance and use it for task with such needs.

+josh hamlton That's what I've been told but Fire & Steels channel beat the crap out of it in super cold weather it heald up well. I would love someone to do a really good long use review of it but I do agree and trust Gerber's 420 way more. From what I'm learning heat treat is the issue if it's done correctly these "so-called" lesser steels are actually good overall Buck has an awesome reputation & 420 is their goto steel. I live in the Northwest and it rains all the time, I just got into knives not long ago and honestly babysitting my hc knives gets a bit annoying sometimes so I want to find a decent stainless.

+Airik1111 im in the idaho region, and bucks 420 is good, so is gerbers, but they are really the only two knife companys that center over half there products around it.

Nice blade!
great knife!
hilarious beginning, good job on the test, I am a huge schrade fan, been looking for a Schf40 for some time, it kind of reminds me of the Gerber prodigy I have, I have many Schrade's and their all awesome, liked the digging test in the stump, the door stick, good job, besides you do not ever know what you'll need your knife for, at anytime, or any situation, it is something that you want tougher than you are able to put it through, again good test,and go Schrade......and by the way, my name is Mitchal, this is my wife's notebook I'm just now learning electronics so world bear with me, still would rather be outdoors!. Hey man, cook video, just wanted to say that I've recently spoke to a schrade rep and it's not full tang it's a stick tang... Personally that should not be considered full tang and can be misleading. It's a useful as a Mora but half the reputation as a Mora. Just wanted to help by letting people know this detail. Thanks Tom
@IrishZombieNation
7 жыл бұрын
A stick tang by definition is a full tang, nothing here is misleading. Even Schrade's website advertises this as a full tang, as do all other sellers of the knife. Full tang simply means that the length of the steel extends the full length of the handle. It's popular now to differentiate between the two by saying "full tang" follows the two-dimensional shape of the handle, with the handle scales sandwiching the tang, and "stick tang" to be smaller than the blade width (though not necessarily) and the handle enveloping the tang. Ultimately, however, both fall under the definition of full tang.
@Horneoutdoors

Irish Zombie Nation that's daft really, I myself wouldn't consider it a full tang just because it reaches the end, they should just call it a stick tang and a full tang if it is a solid piece of steel then has a handle wrap... I get what your saying, but the stick style makes this knife weaker than a solid full tang. if the handle on this was to come loose there would be great difficulty carrying on using this knife in a survival situation thus eliminating that this is a survival knife, with a bigger solid piece it would be easier to use even if the handle did break, I don't think these companies truly think these things through, plus for the price, schrade do actual full tang knives for half the price of this. I'm only commenting as I actually bought this knife having watched your review.. which I found highly entertaining by the way 😉 but I think for the sake of a different word on the websites which could avoid any confusion, it's not too much to ask of them.
@IrishZombieNation

I get where you're coming from. It would be a simple change in wording to avoid any confusion. I will say that if the handle were to come loose on a stick tang knife it would only do so because of poor construction or craftsmanship. Traditional Bowie knives and the original military KA-BAR are proven workhorses. Both are stick tang and have served frontiersmen and soilders faithfully as survival knives with great success. There are a great number of stick tang knives I would take over other fully exposed tang knives anyday or the week. Thank you for your comments. So many people get all pissy about these kinds of things. I appreciate this type of respectful dialog. Also, thank you very much for your compliments on the video, I had fun with this one.

Irish Zombie Nation I understand, and thanks for your positive replies. I myself have had the haters and pissy comments. shows we are doing something right. take care and keep up the good work man.
Sweet looking knife but not sure about the tampon coating haha nice vid tho...stay safe with all that estrogen out there
Cool vid. You got to watch out for those girls. lol
Now THAT'S a knife
I'm not sure why they would use 420j2 in a "do all" survival knife. That steel is typically used for medical instruments and smaller folding pocket knives. It needs to be heat treated perfectly and doesn't get very hard, only about 54RC. I would be very concerned about the edge retention capability of that knife...
@IrishZombieNation
8 жыл бұрын
Edge retention will be an issue. Easy to solve though, just have to sharpen it. 420j2 is very tough, as well as corrosion resistance, so I can see why they'd want to use that in a tactical survival knife. I don't see this thing breaking unless their is a fluke weak point. Since it won't retain an edge long, it's nice that they incorporated a sharpening stone into the sheath.

Irish Zombie Nation All steel is a compromise one way of the other, I just think for a knife like this there would be better options that would still meet the price point.
@IrishZombieNation
8 жыл бұрын
+TheSmokinApe Yeah, the Gerber LMF II that this was designed after uses 420 high carbon. I like that stuff. This is the first one I've used with 420j2. I'll have to see how it holds up over time. I'm adding this knife to my EDC bag and getting one for a friend to have in his Jeep. I really dig this one.
