Alex, I'm not sure if it was the instrument or just your super clean playing, but that Nighthawk Concert sounded absolutely amazing. Really cool new offerings from Flight. They're definitely not resting on the laurels.

A gorgeous electro-acoustic baritone at that price point is indeed a temptation, and not something easy to find. And also the whole Rock series: I still have a weak spot for the single-coil sound of the .Pathfinder, but the Vanguard apparently has a more solid construction (and the looks).

Great video - love the colors on these new Flights. Best part is hearing Alex & Phil get down on the electric models - you guys are so much fun to listen to!

Great video Alex. Flight really are making it a very difficult decision on which of their ukuleles to purchase. So many stunning instruments. You think you have a top three narrowed down and then another beauty arrives. One of these days I’m gonna buy one and I will have to make a pilgrimage to your store to do so. Think I will need to bring a pack lunch and a flask with me though as it could take a while to decide which one.

Have to say, the Nighthawks seem pretty choice. I actually am catching a flight to Bournemouth at the end of the month, and would love to see the Flights! It's been 10 years since my last UK visit, and one of these instruments would make for a mighty fine souvenir. I'm quite excited!

Got me the SG model two weeks ago, and I absolutely LOVE IT! I also have a Harley Benton SG uke, and my advice is spend the extra money and get the FLIGHT one instead.

Man I,m loving the flight solid electric hooking it up to a Focusrite audio interface and using Logic Pro and garage band its epic for those wanting to know yes you can use them on ipad MacBooks and iPhones I recommend OWC powered hub as it gets rid of feedback and you can hook your ipad to your Mac so you can use your ipad or your iphone as a midi keyboard and the list goes on and on the OWC thunderbolt hubs just connects and powers everything just by plugging it in to a one wall power socket

Hi, Alex! I love your videos. I just watched your video on own Pioneer. Is it true that you with the steel strings you don't have to press down as hard?

Steel strings are much more precise. Although you put less pressure on the strings, it's more resistant (metal rather than nylon). If you were considering the electric because you think it would be easier, it's actually much harder.

I bought myself a Moss signature concert (not from Southern Ukulele store, I'm in Germany, screw the Brexit). Thanks for your review, it gave me the confidence that I was getting the perfect instrument for my preference!

Love the electrics, don’t imagine I’d ever care to listen to people play basic ukulele style music though.

How big is that lower bout on the Aurora? It really brings out the bass. I see Flight has a new guitarlele (GUT 850). Looks like the same body as the Aurora. They did a great job on the electrics! The Pioneer looks and sounds a lot like my '74 SG.

Aurora is 28cm at widest point. By comparison a Snail is 25cm at widest point.

Really impressed with the sound form the nighthawk concert and its a looker. Think pins topped with the same blue would be aesthetically better. But that is individual, Flight clearly making a statement and they all sound great. Do you think the painting of the mahogany adds additional hardness and then assist in producing the sound? Made my Friday have a great weekend.

I have no idea but modern stained finishes seem to be becoming more common without the large added production cost so I would assume they found a way to apply it more evenly, quickly.

Are you aware of any baritone solid body electric ukuleles? I've not been able to find anything in the UK, only Fanner and SoDo Electrics. Is this type of instrument something that SUS would stock? I've been massively impressed with my previous purchases from you guys. Great setup and service.

What would you consider midrange? I'd say a Millar SP-260W or Flight Carabao Uke (due back in stock in May) would be perfect.

In the past there were some QC issues with some Flight models. Have they got that straightened out given their push to go higher end?

Yes. Since 2020 they have hired a luthier in Slovenia who carries out visual QCs and in the UK a portion of them get a second check from a technician before we see them. I would say the failure rate now for us is around 1/60 which is about the same as Kala/Snail etc. The slightly rough finishing in places is still sometimes there but I think given the quality of the build, woods, aesthetics etc - this is a natural byproduct of getting something that competes with instruments at a higher price in every other respect. Plenty of other brands producing ukes at £300-1000 are not producing the goods nearly as consistently. I should add... there is a noteworthy jump in quality from a Diana to a Voyager. For the extra £100 the difference is dramatic.

Do y'all think the NightHawk will be back in stock soon? Very interested but can't really find it anywhere

It doesn't have the side sound port that a lot of other ukes have. Also the combination of woods on the nighthawk is a more affordable choice. Neither of these could be considered bad, just noteworthy... it's a great uke.

I bought the Aurora, they sent a booklet which would be ok if it was a tenor etc. However, it had no information about the baritone it came with. The battery doesn't seem to connect when pushed fully home. How I'm going to change the strings I'm not sure. They appear to feed from inside the uke. Having said that, it is a beautiful uke.

For someone else’s info: Do you do set ups on ukes you sell? Recently got the Flight Vanguard and it was a mess as far as basic set up. Truss Rod was loose. neck then bowed and am still messing to try to get intonation right. dont want anyone else to go thru this mess. i wouldnt expect action to be adjusted etc but truss rod issue another thing., thanks

Hi Pam, Yes we do. Just to clarify, are you saying that you got a Vanguard from us and its not correct? If so, you absolutely should have gotten in touch with us when it arrived so we could sort it out for you. If its still a problem, please contact us in the store so that we can discuss it and if necessary get it collected and looked at. If the truss rod has become loose quickly or disengaged for example after just a day or two then that is the kind of thing we would really like to know about whether it's something we missed or a deeper issue. As an update, I have spent the past 20 minutes looking back through every Vanguard order we have had this year looking for a name that matches your youtube handle and I am not finding it.
