Tom Hudner deliberately crashed his plane to help Jesse Brown and then as a final act of devotion didn't let his friend die alone - what we would all do for a friend that loyal. RESPECT and love to both men and their families.

I watched it yesterday and it’s really terrific. I didn’t know anything about either of these men and the ending was unexpected. I enjoyed that it doesn’t have a Hollywood ending. It’s character driven and not CGI-dominated. A great family film. Gives you lots to think about and discuss afterwards.

Regina, Come together but not recognized until some 70 years later. And only because of the BLM movement. Never automatically recognized like their white counterparts for doing the same thing (or even more!) THAT needs to change - for other minorities too, such as Asians, Native Americans, etc. We don't need to be recognized for our race - just for the heroic act REGARDLESS of our race. This CLEARLY showed these heroes were not until they must be to benefit whites again (look, we don't discriminate, see? We recognize minorities too!) Yeah but it's 70 years late!

A true story, indeed. The actual event was fairly well known at the time in military circles and, as anyone can see from the newsreel, by the general public when Lt. His er was awarded the Medal of Honor for trying to save Lt. Brown’s life. The circumstances of Brown’s death may have inspired the ending of the famous 1953 movie, “The Bridges of Toko-Ri”as well as the James Michener novel, on which the movie is based.

I'm really looking forward to this movie and can't wait to see the story, but I think there's more going on behind the scenes than meets the eye. Last year, the Chinese made their own Korean War movie (Battle at Lake Changjin) which portrayed America as the enemy. I think Devotion is America's response to Lake Changjin as both China and America are locking themselves into a new cold war over Taiwan and the Western Pacific....

Thanks for sharing that alternative I'd like to see the other side of the story because all America does is sell us propaganda and tell us black soldiers were proud to die for white supremacy

Ensign Jesse LEROY BROWN is my father's brother and my Uncle Fletcher and uncle Lara are in the movie as well. I have clippings of my UNCLE ENSIGN JESSE LEROY BROWN and my father together.
