New farm water system already paying dividends for winter.

New farm water system already paying dividends for winter. With our pressurized buried water line this allows us to spend part of the winter on our new farm that previously only had above ground water. The farm is getting some great natural fertilizer added with each bale that we unroll with their daily stockpiled grass. If you want to keep your farm profitable every year, check out my 3 grazing books that I wrote on our website: greenpasturesfarm.net/books/

    8 inch sewer pipe, under ground line and quick couplers are the bomb. 600 feet is about it. Give them plenty. Papa Les, my step-father always said, if you can't make a profit feeding them enough...... You sure won't my a profit, starving them!! #naturalgramma Natural Gramma LLC RevHank and Laura Reid

    @@markrodrigue9503 I found the channel after starting my compost journey for my garden. The garden compost led me to try to figure out how to compost 60 acres. While chasing that I found Joel Salatin and this channel. I was thrilled to find that rotational grazing gave a better result for a lot less effort and money. The waterline system videos is what got me to subscribe. There is just so much useful information there.

    Well son Scott and I had our first "rodeo" on Sunday, we needed to load 2 steers to go to the processor o Monday. One is very skittish needless to say he bolted jumped the poly braid and we tried for hours to get him in the corral with no success so now we have a processor coming Thursday to get him. We got the other one in the corral and trailer fairly easy so he is at another processor. We are learning. LOL!

    Been wondering about what you use for hoses. In a previous video you mentioned going to a hydraulic shop but when I priced out a hydraulic hose with GHT fittings it was extremely expensive.

    Thanks for the video! Our dog was born in January so you think it could be a good time to get another if I have permission from my wife 😂? He is doing really good I think. He is poultry and pig ready. The sheep didn’t like him at all but I think I need it was when I put him in though. This time I will do it differently so they get used to each other better. Quincy is only 4.5 hours away. I can’t wait to see your new intern.

    Id wait a little. A good yearling dog can regress back to puppy behavior, and end up being a bad influence on a puppy. I think they’re more ready to train a pup closer to two personally. My experience is limited though. I’ve trained 3 full time dogs, and one goof that didn’t make the cut and lives in my yard and house.

    Greg how deep is your water line buried, and have you ever had it freeze near the coupling when there are no livestock using it? I was wondering if the pvc coupler riser pipe would allow to much cold air down to the water line causing it to freeze.

  • @jasonmihalick

    @jasonmihalick

    I’d also like to know how you are connecting the hose down deep in the pipe? We are getting ready to run water in our pasture and we were planning on using hydrants (in a ‘no dig’ pvc sleeve) that are fed with a pressurized well water source.

    It does not freeze at 24” deep with a 8” pipe around it in central Missouri. Further northern US it would need to be much deeper to prevent freezing

    @@jasonmihalick youd want to go deeper than 3 foot. The risers work by taking heat from unfrozen soil and the water to keep the pipe warm. It helps if you insulate around the riser.
