Thanks Colin, That was great, glad you got to go on that tour, amazing.I wish someone would have got all the dronies in one shot maybe you guys could do that at the completion. I always love team photos and you are famous in your own right now. I imagine some of the questions embarrassed Laing and they make a political answer as with the Leich design.Meis has already said it was a mistake but even masters can make mistakes. Surprised at how much the roof dropped that is a huge amount

Nice one, Colin. A good combination of video focus and answering the questions raised. 1) It raised many other questions which you won't now be able to ask now unless they allow you a return? Did they say that you could channel questions to them ad hoc, now that you have their contact details? 2) With regards to the water-proofing of the channel wall, (and incidentally, it's good to see clearly the groundwater outfall pipe near the centre-top of the Seacant Wall) my question wasn't so much about when the wall was inserted, though it was interesting to hear the answer confirmed, or how the concrete on the Seacant Wall acts as a barrier but how they stop the water getting under the rebarred concrete 'pad' in front of the Seacant Wall or under the bottom lip of the Seacant Wall (which I'll have to assume goes right down into the sandstone bed). It doesn't look obvious to me that the concrete 'pad' is laid directly on the sandstone bed at that point. 3) I was amused by the practical answer to the black-steels question. 4) I am surprised that EFC are doing The Everton Way. I wonder why they wouldn't want the whole area finished off by the one contractor, all at once. That makes it sound like the appearance of the site, when LoR complete, will still be of an unfinished job. Surprising. 5) Interesting answer about the Movement Joints (45 cm seems huge). I get the idea of custom-making the infill but did they state what material(s) will be used? Do we just presume a custom-made strip of Polycarbonate and Naturally-Anodised Aluminium?

The 45cm drop was exactly in the middle of the predicted movement of between 30cm and 60cm so from an engineering point of view it was considered as perfect.

I might be misinterpreting the purpose of your comment and if so, my apologies but the rhomboid mesh panels were not the reason for the question that Colin was discussing here. Others were wondering if the 20% porosity of the 'standard' panels creating the diagonal stripes would allow the wind and rain in (I'm quite pleased to hear that LoR confirmed what I was repeatedly stating from when the barrel-cladding started [It involves detailed physics and aerodynamics] and the fact that it's quite some distance from the top of the terracing bowl).

@@cp-overview there is a gap on the east stand where a extractor vent is behind it but no difference in the cladding is that right? It’s meant the pattern doesn’t look right?

  • @davidbadcock2225

@@Jonathan-po1id Jonathan: yes and no. You're correct that, surprisingly, one single vent was covered with standard paneling, between the currently clearly seen single vent on the north/right-side of the East Stand main Portal and the double vent lying further to the north, but as a rule the single and double rhomboid panels reflect whether they front single or double vents behind. There is no symmetry in the need for single and double vents in the Hospitality Lounges and the Satellite Kitchens that lie directly below the vents. So, there isn't a pattern, merely a reflection of the engineering requirement.

Darren: this post contains a lot of English words but it doesn't make literal or grammatical sense. I can get the drift that it's a rant but it's not clear what the purpose or chief target is.
