Etchr is lucky to have you, as are we! I appreciate your recent forays into abstraction and non objective backgrounds; it really enhances your distinctive bright and punchy palettes. I like the challenge of the panoramic size…you can focus on a single botanical if you aren’t into the 2:1 landscape ratio. However, the square is a Goldilocks proportion for exploration of mediums and composition. I love to experiment with mixed media grounds/additives, especially using absorbent/watercolor grounds on a section that’s mostly acrylic, wax, etc. I also have a lot of fun with glazing fluid and air brush mediums (The latter is versatile using a brush with water soluble mediums, as it binds, brightens and increases adherence, especially if you’re working with charcoal or soft pastels in an underpainting.) When working in mad scientist layers as I do, paper quality can be your greatest ally or a clumsy, pilling sparring partner. I’d rather have fewer sketchbooks (or less pages/higher gsm) with paper that truly supports my work both literally and figuratively. The 2021 edition seems hard to beat, but I look forward to seeing more of what Etchr has in store for the future.

I'm in love with a square sketchbook at the moment which is also new to me but those panoramic ones look like a lot of fun and perfect for urban sketching and nature journaling and would be a lot of fun to try.

It really is nice to use supplies you enjoy using. It can be annoying to fight with supplies trying to achieve some effects. But, the frustration can lead to learning and discovery! Or, the trash can (bin). lol!

I would love to see you do an abstract painting on the cover, usually I paint the covers of these sketchbooks when I finish them, I finish a sketchbook every month or two and I like customizing the cover as the last thing I do. Also, I really enjoyed seeing your abstract art, it’s incredible!

Congrats. IIt is one of the hardest things to find a watercolour sketch book that is any good.

Congrats on being Etchr’s UK ambassador!! So happy for you!! Love the new sizes that Etchr is releasing… very exciting! I really like the square shape for some pieces (but the landscape size looks fun too). I’m sure the 2021/2023 limited edition sketchbooks are fabulous, but I just can’t spend that amount of money on a sketchbook 😅. I know if I did, I wouldn’t use it because it would be “too good for me”. I do enjoy the Every Day and Perfect sketchbooks a lot. Etchr makes my favourite sketchbook and that is definitely the brand that takes up the most space on my sketchbook shelves, no question about it!

I really love the panoramic book. So when it is in the shop I go for that size first. Maybe I like to draw and paint really long human figures in it.

I really love the panoramic I haven't had one quite as wide as that one so looking forward to getting my hands on it, but I quite like to use it vertically though! Teoh of Parka blog just released a video on these and I actually squealed because I love both square and panoramic (which I call long and skinny) sketchbooks. I was going to ask you if you'd heard the news and apparently you have!! Now, back to the video. Congratulations!!! Well deserved! ETA: ah, you just mentioned Teoh so you saw his video too. I'm just so excited because I only recently discovered wee square sketchbooks and long and skinny ones. ❤ The first one I plan to get is the small square one. Adding yet another comment. 😂 I like to use the panoramic paper to create a series of like paintings. So, you could mask off four areas for four similar paintings. It looks really cool.

Congratulations! What does being an Etchr Ambassador actually entail? I really like that last sketch of Budapest. Gorgeous layering of colour in those trees and making the most of the transparency to make it luminous. The light falling on the poles is also gorgeous.

Congratulations! That is so cool 😊 i love my etchr everyday, i actually really love the cover lol. I love the feel of it and how hardy it is- i keep it in a pencil case with all my sketching and watercolour stuff and it's still perfect. I don't mind if it gets a bit dirty, it helps me use it more and not be precious about it. Becky Treager painted her cover with acrylics and it worked really well, you could try that? Congrats again!
