Hi Karl My subclass 400visa is going to expire on 10th Dec 2023 and employer is gonna changed my visa to 482 but they just published recruitment for the position on last 2 weeks at workforce Australia. Could you please advise me whether I have enough time to lodge the visa 482? What should I do once my current visa expired? Please advise me on this matter.

Thanks Karl! I recall I read somewhere on the proposed changes that visa 482 holders will be given 6 months (instead of 60 days) to be without an employer. During the interim period, they will have work rights. Has this one be implemented? Or discarded entirely?

But the new update on 482 short term stream has GTE already does this mean there is no assurance of visa approval on this?

Well, if you been through the previous government, even without GTE, they can still refuse you for whatever reasons.... immigration world is always like this

A lot were confused on how will the newly grant 482 short term stream holder will have access to 186 trt. Do they have to lodge a new 482 visa to complete that 2 yrs requirement before applying to 186? Or they can lodge directly to 186 before their 482 visa expires?

Hi!! Do you know if commercial cleaner is an option to be sponsorored?. I've been working as a part time cleaner for the last five years while I've been studying Child care. Hi, I started employment a month after my visa grant since I’m under short term stream. At the end of visa expiry, there will be less than 2 yrs. Do I need to renew my 482 first to complete the 2yrs and then apply for 186 afterwards?

What about Aged Care labour agreement 482 visa? Is it still the same and we can apply for 186 after 2 years? Could we actually apply during thise 2 years or we have to wait untill 24 months pass and only apply after that time?

Hi , Great to see another informative video, thanks. I have a question about an existing 482 visa holder working hours. To be eligible for 186 trt do the current 482 visa holder needs working to employer without any unpaid leaves, annual leaves and personal leaves to fullfill 2years or there is a certain limit of leaves can be taken by the applicant mainly unpaid leaves ? According to 482,457 visa workrights entitlement 482,457 holder is eligible to take 4 weeks annual leave in a year and 2 days unpaid leave, do the department of immigration accept it ? You got sponsored once, why do you need to be sponsored again for 186 TRT? Migrant can be abused if this continues. What happens if the business gets sold or bankrupt after 22 months after sponsorship?

This is one of the biggest hurdle of 482 to 186 pathway: need to be sponsored again. 494 to 191 doesn’t have this, and imo more direct and less hassle to visa holders transitioning to PR. Another hurdle is 186 yearly cap. Yes, we now have lots of 482 holders who will all be eligible for 186 TRT after 2 years. But, even for 2023-2024 FY, 186 quota still only 32k, meaning lots of people will have to wait the quota to be refreshed. During the waiting, anything happens, their time committed to PR is wasted. I don’t think government has thought that through.

@@ChannelAMEC Changes to the 482 is a bit underwhelming, isn't it? I was expecting more policies that protect migrants. It feels like they just brought it back to what it was previously. I guess something is better than nothing.
