This. Their damage is sub-par, the attacks are pretty slow, they have virtually zero stance damage, can't do critical hits, and despite ostensibly having decent range, with the way the attacks work you have to be up your target's ass to do anything more than tickle them.

Yeah I’m HOPING Rolling Sparks still does decent damage if used, you know, “normally”. Perhaps it’s good against larger enemies due to the multiple explosions? Or it’s meant to be a longer range AoE / horde clear for perfume bottles

The bottles do still have a niche, as they can still do their old damage to massive enemies. Their nerf was an exploit that allowed the line attack nature of rolling sparks to all be concentrated in one tiny area to deal that intended damage to small individuals. So against most dragons, and in hallways, rolling sparks will still put in work. It just can't be used to insta-cheese what it wasn't meant to cheese anymore. Can still be used to giga-cheese big foes.

The poison bottle is the most useful now cause it does pure physical and boosting physical is way easier, but its biggest strenght is the ability to proc all the poison related buffs even against inmune enemies, with the poisoned hand in your off hand, kindred of rot and mushroom hat you can proc 3 buffs at the start of a fight and switch to your main weapon on top of your physic flask, golden vow, flame grant me strenght, exalted flesh, etc, and it can reproc while fighting if you also have a poison weapon, it's nuts.
My face when Midra's Frenzied Flame got no buffs and still only does like 150 damage as an AoE and can't hit anything within 8 feet of you.

@@elijahford3696 I quite literally have nearly the max focus in the game (aside from just going to 99 mind). I am using solitude armor that gives like 300 focus and have 60 mind, and i can STILL only use it for like 6 seconds. Unless used in very early main game areas, it wont really kill anything before they just hit you and knock you out of it with ease.
No fucking way. The buffed ZERO of the useless incantations.

Rain of Fire will deal max 150 damage per tick at max upgrades and you WILL enjoy it! Still can't believe it made it past testing:D
As a tiche user I can confirm that sometimes when she does the destined death and later when the grey area wears off the bosses health definitely looks like it bounces back more than the damage the attack did effectively healing the boss, glad they fixed that I though I was going crazy

hopefully for the summon in the last fight. Summoning him made the fight substantially harder as he would never pull boss aggro, and the boss gained x2 hp. Just fighting a tankier boss for no bonus
Not making Rain of Fire, Rotten Butterflies and Aspect of the Crucible: Miranda Blossom Beams of Light do any sort of damage at the same time as this is actually criminal.

This was just a small patch probably done to fix a few of the game-breaking items, hence why the new version is only 1.12.3 and not 1.13. Hopefully they actually start buffing stuff whenever that comes out 🙏

Well he's trying to shit out a video every single day, so he's not exactly putting much thought into things. Like they fixed Rolling Sparks exploding on the ground, and then he uses it the same way. Didn't even try it on a big enemy.

I think it makes sense that they've focused on things that were obviously wrong or broken first. It's only been two weeks, since release, not a surprise that there's no real buffs yet because presumably they want to wait until they've seen how all the combos and options truly play out before issuing buffs.

The thing about the boss placements is actually good. What it means is that, using gaius as an example, if you die and re-enter the arena he will now spawn further back like when you initially entered the arena. This should help prevent getting bull-rushed the second you cross the fog wall in his fight.

One time I died to Gaius so fast, my runes were at the Site of Grace when I respawned. Made me laugh.
1:22 a detail that only keen eyed players notice. In these games, usually after fighting a boss and losing. You’ll skip the “intros” and the boss will now have to walk towards you in a different position. Obvious examples are Gael’s Olympic sprint and Malenia no longer doing a 2 hit intro attack.
Looking at these changes like: “I hope you all had fun”

@@colorpg152 For a second I thought you were talking about Elden Stars, but Founding Rain of Stars at least doesn't lock you into place for an extended period of time, it's about as fast as casting any other generic Sorcery, whereas Rain of Fire is using the "Fire Storm" casting animation for some anomalous reason, so it leaves you wide open to being heavily punished, even if you don't charge it... oh yeah, it also has a _charging_ system as if casting it didn't already take twice as long to cast compared to Fire Serpent.
give 80% of the long ass incantations half the hyper armor endure has and this dlc is fixed.

1:35 to clarify, this means that the boss will spawn on the other side of the arena instead of directly in front of the arena entrance. giving time for people to summon/buff.
Making Rolling sparks go from dealing 30000 damage to 300 is wild, hopefully they buff the perfume stuff a bit haha

It's still good. Just on par with other ashes of war that are good against large bosses. Multiple hitboxes stacking on top of each other was unintended so they removed that. It's definitely not unusable now.

@@Deamonder_ Just try using it for yourself and see. Youwy didn't showcase it properly. The animation will end if you point it at the ground but it still does the same amount of explosions. Shooting it in a straight line does almost as much dmg against large bosses as before. I think the difference is the second bug they fixed that caused some explosions to have doubled hitbox. In my testing, I was still able to deal 4x the dmg of a charged heavy with it, but we have to actually aim it now and use it on intended targets, i.e. large monster enemies.

The summoned NPC one I believe is that sometimes when summoning, the NPC would just stand there and do nothing at all

In the case of Gaius it's that the attack is meant to be avoided using Torrent, so when he begins with it at the start of the fight he's so far away from the player that rolling it from that distance and angle requires basically a frame perfect roll in the correct direction. I'd say I avoided it 50% of the time, or worse, on all my attempts on that boss despite knowing it was coming, it just felt like rng. I didn't want to mount Torrent every time just to avoid that one attack so I decided to just take the 50/50. It got extremely annoying and should 100% have been changed, which I'm glad they did.

I had no issue dodging Gaius' charge attack on foot. It's definitely easier with a ranged build. I spammed giant golden arc until he lost use of the rest of his limbs.

to explain the Positioning change, essentially when you refight Gaius and Golden Hippo, they're in the center of the arena instead of how you first encountered them, where they're in the far left/right side of their arena respectively. This means after this patch they'll now start their boss fights the same as they did when you first encounter them.
I love that i saw the notification for this patch the entire time i was fighting Gaius. Constant initial charges that i just couldnt roll away from
Seems like this is a quick update just to address the most ridiculously broken stuff, the vast majority of this patch is classified as "bug fixes" so it wasn't really intended to be a major balance shake-up and the nerfs are simply because those things were benefitting from bugs. I imagine they have 1.13 in the works as a large balance focused patch, especially considering how much balance has been the hot topic for people to complain about.

Lmao it was so clear to me this would happen and I am not surprised everyone is crying about it. An ash of war that could kill 90% of the base game bosses in under 10 seconds with zero effort. There are so many interesting builds introduced with this update that I would love to see get some balance updates but this was one that I don't even really consider balance, it's more like patching an unintended exploit, and people are acting like they took away the only viable build in the entire dlc. Just ridiculous lol

I’d say every nerf needs reverted personally, it’s not exactly an easy task to land any attack that takes 4 seconds to execute so by nerfing the only reason anyone would use the items their just never going to use them, it effectively removed over half the dlc items with this update

Boss placement might mean that only after first interaction when they have the alternate spawn after you die to their intro, they wont have that new spawn point (Gaius coming through the doorway instead of being right in front of the fog door, Radahn being at the top of the steps instead of being more in the arena)
They've also increased the madness build up you get from Midra's Flame of Frenzy. It goes up so much faster now.
The boss changes just means they start further back in the arena as if you walked in the first time
“Placement of bosses” means that they’d be in the same spot as when you’d first encounter them naturally before having a fog barrier

I think the placement of the bosses refers to the fact that when you first fight commander gauis or the golden hippo they start in the corner of the arena, but when you re-fight them they start right in front of you, I guess now they start in the corner of the arena every time you fight them.
1:25 the hippo spawns under some trash in the far right, but spawns closer in the center on reruns making the rushing attack get to you faster, commander gaius spawns on the far left of the arena but spawns infront of you and closer on reruns making the rush attack get to you faster asw

Perfume weapons are now just storage space. No buffs and the ashes of war are now worthless except for certain situations. No buffs, regular attacks are slow and still deal low damage. Weapon is ass. It needs a buff
As for the position thing: It means that the bosses won't camp right behind of the boss fog door, attacking you immediately upon entering. Gaius previously began every fight with his borderline undodgeable charge.

i understand nerfing the rolling sparks and perfume bottles but nerfing it to the point where they're just useless is just annoying, only enabling people to abuse bleed builds. YES KNOW THEY WERE BROKEN!! I just wish they got balanced instead of being nerfed/patched to the ground cause i think the perfume bottles have a lot of potential

@@richikchatterjee2252 my brother, the rolling sparks glich was a PVE issue, you could legit two shot the final boss of the DLC. This nerf is for all the players that go around one shotting bosses.
3:38 the bug before was that the uncharged R2 had like 2 or 3 seconds of recovery before you could roll, it's like the rolling window was the same as it was for charged R2
They always nerf the few OP weapons but never touch the dozens of underpowered spells

these few OP weapons maybe are fun for someone who commits in PVE only but for me who also plays the colloseum these op weapons are nightmare to deal with it. Also not all spells suck ass if you have 40 mind.

Well, the rolling sparks was a litteral bug and did way too much damage to the point I don't see where the fun could be... But yeah, there are many incantations needing a buff rn.

1:26 It means that the bosses spawn at the same location as in the very first meeting instead of standing in the middle of the arena
1:32 re-fight means to fight again. So that patch basically means if you die to them and try to fight them again, the hippo boss and commander gaius' starting position will be the same as the very first time you enter their boss rooms (first fight).

Those two fights are awful, maybe Gaius won't be as miserable with this change. The Golden Hippo on the other hand...the arena combined with it's size and speed were FAR bigger problems than him charging you the moment you enter the arena. That fight is a poorly designed mess even without the aggro charge at the start.

Sadly the Golden Hippo fight is beyond saving, it's size and speed are just too much for the arena you fight him in. That fight does need some actual nerfs.

just a small correction, the change to the back hand blades heavy attack made it to where doing a tap R2 could cancel into a roll. it was bugged before where a tap R2 couldnt be canceled by a roll so you would just be spamming roll and your character would have to finish the entire animation before moving.
with the boss fixes with Gaius and the hippo it means they will be in the same positions are their first encounters. The hippo was in the back right corner instead of the center and Gaius was off to the left a distance away and didn't charge at you immediately so it puts them in those positions making the fights a little easier at the start of fights if you didn't kill them in one try.
The smithscript nerf was so shit. Lost 25% of its damage pretty much when used with faith or int scaling infusions.

7:23 that fix might have something to do with the fact that some days ago I summoned Thiollier to the last boss fight and the guy decided then and there to cast eternal sleep on himself and have a little nap behind the fog gate while me and Ansbach fought for our lives xD

I actually won the fight easier when he decided to stay outside the boss fog. He enters and fights if he gets hit at all through the wall, so he basically just waited out there so he could be fresh for phase 2

Oh yeah for me he just never came in the fog door, at all, I thought it was intended lol. The few times he was summoned he just would never walk in.
The text display fix probably refers to how some descriptions of items, weapons, spell etc. just cut off at the end of the last paragraph.
hopefully the summoned npcs mean that in the final boss fight someone wont just stand outside for 5 mins
I believe the part about the placement of the Golden Hippo and Gaius is about how their starting positions are different on subsequent attempts compared to the first. This will be especially notable for Gaius who originally comes running in from the entrance to the next area at first and starting much closer to the boss fog on subsequent attempts where he is free to charge at you right off the bat.

The position of the bosses, I think, refers to where they appear after the initial cutscene when you first try the boss. If you die and comeback they would appear in a different position in the arena. They may have ensured they now appear in the same place as the first time.
So for context when fighting commander boar dude the first time he has an animation where he rides out from the back side of the arena, but if you die and try to rematch he spawns right in front of the fog wall. So that’s what they changed for that one

And the npc summon bug was summons like thiollier would get summoned and quite literally stare at the wall and not do anything. When I summoned him against the final boss bro didn’t move a single inch and didn’t even get hit a single time by the time I beat the boss.
The unexpected affinity with the Fire Knights GS was holy. For some reason it got a lot more damage instead of fire and flame art, as originally intended

I presume its innate scaling with faith somehow stacked with the faith scaling from holy making it do more damage. Not sure though.

@@cartmandreamer9703 It wasn't nerfed, they just fixed it. It was doing the hitstun of something like Zwei or GUGS while having the faster moveset which gave it easier true combos. It can still true combo R1-R1 and CR1-R1 if you use free-aim to angle the swings in specific ways. You can look up Godslayer's GS true combo guides for that.

@@102ndsmirnov7 Godslayer's could never r1 to r1 true combo, it could only ever combo a crouching attack into an r1 which would combo if you angled your camera down and to the right, in case anyone was confused.
The problem with the Cirques was never distance, it was shitty tracking and going straight into the floor against small enemies. Also have they seriously not done anything with the pointless incantations that do no damage?

I believe the npc bug fix was referring to the saint trina guy not being able to come into the boss area on the final boss sometimes
You're truly building a foundation here for the channel, great work. 💯
The bosses placement means that they will no longer charge directly at you in a straight line the moment you cross the fog gate. They will be repositioned to the spot where they do their "introduction" the first time you fight them. Meaning, they are a lot more far away and give you more time to summon.

@@HDGaminTutorials dude same like I had the perfect character for it too (Night Mage that uses the Sword and Glintblade spells) and thankfully now I can actually use it on said character
It wasn't common, but I'd sometimes get perfume invaders hit me with a jumping attack and getting hit with one cloud of it would instantly kill me from full 60vig health so its good that double damage bug was fixed.

"Who knows what that means" It means they start the fight in the same position when you walk through the fog gate as when you first encounter them, as opposed to standing on the exact opposite end of the arena
Panic nerfing a bunch of shit with no buffs to a lot of other shit that are downright horrendous I really felt something when the boss weapon ranking video only went up to A Most of the boss weapons are pretty bad, pretty disappointing for weapons that are supposed to be the spoils of conquering boss enemies

This isn't a big balancing patch. Pretty much everything they've changed they've listed as bugs, meaning it was unintended in the first place. They'll get round to doing an actual balancing patch soon.
A friend told me about the NPC didn't enter the final boss battle or didn't attack that much so i guess that's the fix

Yeah I tried summoning Thiolier to see if he had any dialogue for that fight, but he just didn't go in until like 2 minutes later and then he just stood in the arena lmao
1:34 When you first fight Gaius, he comes charging at you from a bit far away for more of a cinematic feel. If you die, every try after that he starts directly in front of you. I imagine that's what they mean.
I swore on my life they would fix the Golden hippos placement in the room at some point. You had to apply any buffs outside his fog wall because he would charge you with one of two moves the second you walked in
Decent direction, but a lot of incantations and sorceries feel like they are literally not scaling with anything, take forever to cast, and have zero hyper armour. Gold arcs or fire rain do like 100 damage... I hope they approach them next, though the perfume bottles were literally only good because of a bug... which says everything.

I feel so bad for faith builds in this DLC, some of the stuff I've seen has been *abysmal*. I watched a streamer run with a faith/int and so much of it was like comically bad. I think electrocharge was doing like 30 damage.

Rolling Sparks was guaranteed to be nerfed along with Split Slash. You could kill the final boss with less than 10 L2s with Sparks. This is typical for From. Also Rolling Sparks was legit broken. The hitboxes from it would stack on top of each other. But hey at least we still have the Thorn spell

Lightning Perfumes were broken while using rolling sparks. Damage was in line with other AoWs for other perfumes.

My main issue with this is why aren't they buffing some of the trash incantations as well? All of the sorcery and colossal weapon additions are strong but faith builds get ONE thing and it gets nerfed? Thats bs pandering to sorcery and colossal builds as usual. The only decent thing a faith build has now from dlc is knight lightning spear (messmer spear scales better with dex than fth), im just tired of From ignoring pure faith builds and sucking off sorcery

Rolling Sparks is still good, just not totally broken. They only nerfed it deleting everything when aimed at the ground, it's still decent against large enemies

I totally get that lol, even though it was obvious that the perfume was getting destroyed in the next patch, they've still spent rare, unrefundable resources on something that's now been rendered useless. I genuinely think you should be given a choice to trade your weapon and receive your smithing stones back every time a weapon you already maxed out gets nerfed significantly.

We will get buffs for the bottles but this will take longer. Today's patch was just there to fix obviously broken stuff. (Bottles, fire knight gs getting a true combo R1 and the backhand AoW)

Because I had used Rolling Sparks on the lightning perfume bottle (I had been running a lightning build, you can imagine my excitement when i stumbled upon the combo) I had decided to test post-nerf rolling sparks on the lightning bottle. While the damage is halved, if used normally I think it's still viable. Consistently does 2000-2500 per cast of Rolling Sparks
Regarding the Hippo and Gaius change. On your first encounter with them they'll be far off in the distance giving you time to prepare but on refights they're basically in front of the fogwall and on you instantly.
How are you so quick lol. Also yeah I hope there's a patch of buffs incoming for all the crappy stuff now

Especially Dragonbolt of Florrisax, this is the fucking THIRD dragonbolt spell that sucks ass.
For rolling sparks: you can still throw them through bosses with large hitboxes and do great damage. It was never intended to be thrown at the ground at point blank.

@@shreeanshmahapatra2313 No, because you can use the ash of war on a smaller enemy and deal less damage then a standard R1 from the weapon. Meanwhile flaming strike or lightning on a basic longsword deals over 1k damage easily and doesn't take 5 seconds to go off. Seems totally balanced... they just had to fix the ground impact and reduce the unintended 30k damage numbers. Just make it go out straight from the player, deal 1-1.5k damage and it might of been fine still.

The amount of people crying about their exploit getting fixed is hilarious. Perfumes were never intended to be god tier weapons, they're an auxiliary methinks
About the thrusting shields and npc summons The shield double hand attack acts both as a block and attack at the same time. Before the correction, this attack would take less stamina damage if you traded hits with an enemy than just blocking making it pretty much the best attack in the game if you connected. As for the npc, some npc summoned wouldn't move until their default standing status was changed, either by attacks of other effects. Extremely annoying if you expected those to help you with a boss fight. Thanks for going through the patch notes, was very insightful.
My guess for the summonable NPCs not behaving as expected is in regards to them de-aggroing. During the fight with Rellana, Leda would frequently stop attacking and just wander around one end of the arena. While she would eventually rejoin the fight, a host having their summon just decide to tale a break mid-fight is definitely not working as intended.

7:21 As far as i know there was a bug with Thiollier when you summon him for the last boss. He used to just not enter the Arena and some people thought it was Intentional and similar to Patches immediately bailing out in the Radahn fight. Apparently it's fixed now tho

Thio was Sometimes to dumb to enter the Fight. But personaly my Hero, without him i would not have won
The Gaius and Hippopotamus line is because they start farther away on the first time you fight them (the opposite of bosses like Morgott or Malenia, who start closer the first time). Gaius starts the fight by running in all the way from the exit of his arena, but if you die to him once the next times he always spawned in the middle and immediately went for a charge. Hippopotamus I think starts sleeping the first time, but awake the next ones.
The Gaius change is so fucking nice. I ended up just cheesing the charge with Vow of the Indominable because the hitbox of the charge makes no sense and he spawns SO close to you.
The first fight just means instead of the running boar coming straight at you when you enter the fog he'll come from the left as if you entered that area for the first time
Rolling sparks is still solid if you don't aim it at your feet and use it normally
Love how the bloodfiend arm basically got a cat scratch and the perfume bottles were completely neutered. They’re gonna have to rework them completely in a future update to make them somewhat viable or else they just made another class that’ll have as much use as bows.
I think they were mainly just trying to fix the swift slash issue and the one with people causing near instant death, and just happened to throw in a few of the other things that they were working on that were ready enough to use so that it could be an actual update instead of just a hotfix.

maybe the summoned bug is the one near fort of reprimand, where a ghostflame dragon is fighting mesmer's army with black knights. Any summoned npc there just stands and doesn't react, they only react when attacked then de aggros again and becomes idle
I hate that they didn’t buff any of the useless incantations but I am glad they buffed the smith script daggers, I was pissed when I finally found them just to not be able to hit anything without being in greatspear poking distance and at that point I may as well just use melee instead of the “ranged” daggers
I tested Gaius already and you now can actually do something before he spawns right into your face. Earlier if you tried to summon any Spiritash, you couldn't dodge his first dash. Now he spawns in the top left Corner of the arena allowing for a fair opening.
Im so glad that i decided to go ahead and use the bloodfiend arm to beat the final boss yesterday😭😂 time to switch back to the Night sword.
