New Dublin Voices commissioned Sarah Quartel to compose a piece for them in 2020, with support from the Arts Council of Ireland. The inspiration was "Homage to Omey" by Joan McBreen, from Map and Atlas (2017), reprinted by kind permission of the author and Salmon Poetry.

Canadian composer and educator Sarah Quartel is known for her fresh and exciting approach to choral music. Her works are performed across the world and exclusively published by Oxford University Press. She has been commissioned by groups such as the American Choral Directors Association, the National Children's Chorus of the USA, and in 2023 is the composer-in-residence for The Singing Girls of Texas and have a commision at Carnegie Hall. She lives in London, Canada.
