New Double Deep Horizontal Hive

Ойындар

After a lot of testing , i designed a frame that can hold two deep foundations. My Horizontal hives can hold 32 frames, so that gives me a total of 64 deep foundations. After talking with my friend over seas , they use a combination of a deep and medium in one frame, with outstanding results. so i just made my frames slightly larger. Very soon ill have 3 out for testing so everything should be ready for this coming spring season. ill try to post videos as results come in. These Double Deep and regular Horizontal Hives will be available and shown on our web page at HunterHives.com

Nice job getting the deeps together. I’ve heard and disagree with those who would say you can’t get the bees past the mid bar in winter and so they’ll die. With a strong colony this won’t be an issue. And strong colonies going into winter are the genetics we want anyway. Now if you could figure a way to separate the frames when there’s honey, you’re in business

i make the wood match thru out the hive, and yes i make both types pine and cedar. wood cost are crazy here. pine is thru the roof and cedar, well its at another level above lol. i know what your thinking cedar will last longer. but i have a certain sealer i use that will take care of the problems, made by a company called vermont, i use caspian clear, you can get it thru amazon, about 89.00 a gallon, put two heavy coats on legs and end grain, make sure you get second coat on before first dry's or it will not penetrate. best sealer on the market in my opinion, i use it on all my hives, after years they still look like they just come off the show room floor.

No center bar in the middle of the frame, and gives them a surface to to build a complete circle brood pattern with no interference. Just my opinion. And I build my own hives and frame's. They are all 19 frame hives, and my first summer of beekeeping and I have 2 Layens and 2 langstroth horizontals and of my layens are completely full. The langstroth are about 1/4 full. I cannot find any advantage of a horizontal hive over a Langstroth hive.

Have you listened to Leonid Sharaskin's lectures they are on youtube. That will explain everything. Horizontal is amazing, but really the main thing is the large colony space to begin with. In general horizontal style hives are awesome. We will all get old one day. If you want to be a beek until your old, go horizontal. :) Or in other words, if you dont want to go horizontal early, use horizontal hives :D
