You are correct that Cinderella’s original dress was silver. Over time, Disney adapted the dress in blue and even digitally remastered the movie colors to make the dress more blue looking in the re release.

Yes, she basically has Aurora’s original colourings instead now, blue dress and yellow blonde hair rather than a silvery white dress and strawberry blonde hair. Such a shame.

The point about a $115 TM with a cheap t-shirt dress compared to pierced ears (for Cinderella), ball gown, fancy hairstyle, etc. for only $10 more is THE. POINT. These dolls are an insanely good value compared to their TM dolls. And someone made a really good point when they commented on my video (same topic - initial reactions) today. They said that folks who don't tend to like the bottom painted lashes (like me!) might hesitate to remove them on a $300 doll but will feel more comfortable taking them off a doll at a more reasonable price point. Not including my own, yours is the fourth video I've watched on the topic today. I'm thoroughly enjoying all the takes.

I’ve been saying for years that they need to bring the TM doll retail price down to $99 and raise historical to $150 and give us the quality and details that make them feel more luxury and keepsake. Their pricing structure makes it too obvious that their markup is super high for a company that doesn’t wholesale much at all. But I bet TM is probably something crazy like 80% of their profits, so I wouldn’t expect that change at this point. But yeah some of their pricing makes no sense.

@@idreamofjonny or just give the TM dolls better meet outfits!! the quality of the outfits back in the early 2000s even was so much better -multiple pieces, details, etc. I'm not really into TM collecting but I find those t-shirt dresses insulting to customers.

I think Ariel's got a dress instead of the clam shell bra is if they wanted costumes for the little girls , it's more appropriate for a dress for a little girl instead a bra. Just a thought.

I saw AG make a comment that these three are a core members of the Disney line, so possible new dolls/outfits later. Maybe last years LE will be re-released to reflect the core line/no Swarovski.

Amen to pairing Tiana's work dress with Claudie - so good!

I'm planning to get all the outfits to put on my existing dolls that look semi similar to these dolls (Blaire, Claudie, and Caroline for me). That's for space reasons mainly, I think AG did an impeccable job designing these dolls! I'm SO glad they listened to us and made cheaper, crystal-less dolls and actually let us buy outfits for them!

I love the Nanea mold for Ariel! I feel that it gives her this wide eye gaze like she gives to the land and its people! I can’t say no to a doll like her 🫣

Born in 1980. I wanted to be Ariel when I was young. As an adult I appreciate Belle more. Tiana is one of my favorite princesses so I’m super excited they released her. I also love the inclusion of Gus Gus and Jacques with Cinderella.

I really LOVE all three. Tiana's extra outfit is the best! I make and design doll clothes and usually dislike factory made clothes, however, I would and might buy this one. I really like Tiana's princess dress too. Well done American Girl!!!!

I couldn't resist, the moment I saw that AG had used the Claudie mold and the quality of the work outfit I got her whole collection!! 😄 For some reason Tiana's collection just seems higher quality and more realistic, not as costume-like as the other ones. But yes, where is her frog and Ray the firefly?! 🧐

I really like Tiana! Her original dress looks better fitted than cheaper versions. I also like the work dress for Claudie. Based on Instagram responses, the general comments are regarding wanting the work dress for Claudie and for petitioning AG over wanting the Frog Prince to be added to her collection (a frog; Cinderella and Ariel both have character animals). I like Cinderella’s work dress. It reminds me of Gretel from “Hansel and Gretal”. I also really like the blue in Ariel’s ball gown dress. I would like to continue to see quality in their products and outfits that aren’t pink dresses!

I understand that Claudie and Tiana share a face mold and are set in the 1920s but to say that Claudie and Tiana are the same feels a lot like saying all black dolls look alike. I don't see anyone saying this about the white character dolls that share a face mold and other similar features.

Yup, I was the most excited for Tiana's collection, got it all the moment I saw it was released!! 😃😍 It seems to be the highest quality and the most realistic, perhaps because her story takes place in an actual historical era. I am definitely going to be putting my Claudie in Tiana's work dress! 😃 Plus, Tiana is an amazing character! Now if we could just get Merida I'd be totally thrilled!! 😍😍 I do wish that AG would put focus back on the historical dolls, but because Tiana and Merida come from actual historical eras they do kind of give off original Pleasant Company vibes, so perhaps they would be a happy medium between commercial and Pleasant Company. 🙂

I purchased Tiana , and her work outfit can’t wait to get them… Tiana’s from the 1920’s so her outfits are perfect for my Claudie… and her Cinderella’s dress was silvery/white briefly , but the film was remastered they turn it blue it remained blue .

I loved hearing your thoughts on these! It's funny, I posted my thoughts video just a bit before you did and said the same thing about the day dress.. the bottom being satin just does not look good.

I wish they would do Merida. Can you imagine the wig? The freckles? Her bright eyes? She would be a legend. She had thin lips, so I'm thinking the classic mold would be perfect. Ugh, I want a Merida doll!

This collection is absolutely exquisite! Disney and AG really did an amazing job! They did great with Ariel considering it’s meant especially for young kids. Price point is excellent. I love it all and got them all. I got all the outfits and even picked up two extra Disney princess to change into the other outfits. Thanks for your video.

I've been sort of at odds with Disney lately - as someone who also grew up loving the films, but am not a "Disney adult™️" - I have been disillusioned with them the older I get. But I must say, I'm very tempted to buy either Tiana or Cindy and make them a "new" character. Especially Tiana, she is a remarkable doll. And I'm so glad they've used the Claudie mold!!

I love them all so much! I have no complaints. I think Ariel’s skirt looks so much like a tail too and I love the Nanea sculpt. Tiana is absolutely charming with the Claudie face sculpt and her meet dress is stunning. Not as much of a fan of the other gown but love the little coat outfit. I may buy Cinderella’s full bundle. I love it all and the mice! I agree Tiana needs her frog. 💋

The price point is truly magical and makes owing these dolls sooo much better. Awesome review.

I love it all! I especially love the Tiana doll and Cinderella's work dress. Also Ariel. Having seen the movie, I agree there should be a frog for Tiana! He specifically needs to be with the blue dress. I definitely recommend The Princess and the Frog movie. It's not at all a damsel in distress story. Also (in the animated version), though Ariel is rescued by her father in the end, she's actually the one who saves Eric's life first.

Good points about the actual princess stories. In addition, the three princess stories are love stories. I think that's partly why the stories have endured. For a lot of people, love never goes out of style.

Love them! I feel like the Joss face mold would've fit Ariel's face more imo!

I remember a few times back in the day when American Girl gave a discount on the GOTY doll with her whole collocation and some historical collections has a discount

I really hope they do Pocahontas! I was seriously obsessed as a small girl. I realize now that it was probably controversial. But I loved her. Also Mulan is another favorite and a strong female!!!!

I think it is an "inspired by" dress application of the concept. It is a great entry for little girls into the American Girl line and it keeps it going for us who love AG during difficult economic times/competition for many companies or the subcompany lines within companies. At least that is my take.

Oh and if you go to Disney World some of these outfits will make sense. Kids dress in these fabrics and they sell these outfits with these fabrics at the store, and she wears some of these in the rides or similar too. So children would recognize them.

So happy about the separate outfits and don’t have to buy the dolls! I’m getting both pink dresses!

I think they're all really cute! Cinderella and Tiana look really spot on. I'm not crazy about how Ariel's not really movie accurate at all compared to the other two. Basically you'd need to buy one of the other outfits to get a movie accurate look and at that point I'd rather just get a cheaper doll with a bright red wig and buy one of the outfits. I understand why they went with Ariel. Since she's the only mermaid she stands out a lot and is a huge fan favorite but I don't think they succeeded in translating her mermaid look into doll form. The purple top and gold necklace combo looks more like it belongs to Vanessa (Ursula's alter ego) than Ariel.

With Tiana having an up do as well is her hair longer? And being Claudie face mold. I'd love to see a comparison of Claudie and Tiana with her hair down.

When I saw $125, I thought it was clickbait in some form 😅 My least favorite meet outfit is Ariel, however, her additional dresses are gorgeous. Also born in 84 so Ariel was IT. Cinderella is close to me because (this probably isn't PC anymore lol) my best friend was 1/2 Filipina and Pocahontas was her nickname and mine was Cinderella. Not a fan of her secondary outfits. I do hope this is a step forward (or back tbh) in terms of quality.

Great video and the Tiana doll, in particular, looks amazing! (Especially at that cost.) But how could you not comment on AG Cinderella’s “glass” slippers? They were so cute!

i'm unsure about tiana and ariel's lips and all of their eyebrows but i ADORE the dolls overall and their outfits, i think american girl did extremely well with this line.

They are both from the 1920's but Tiana is from New Orlean's and Claudie lives in Harlem but her family moved there from the south I believe from Georgia.

I ordered the AGD Princess Tiana bundle this morning. My childhood movie was Princess Cinderella. And I agree with you on the Princess Collector.

About the ariel dress, Disney collaborated with the Love Nikki movie dress up game, and had an ariel suit. For 4 days we had the seashell bra and tail and after an update it was redesigned with the bra becoming a top instead. So I think, when licensing out the disney brand to others, ariel will usually get stuck with a top for modesty reasons

Would AG have to pay for the license? I’m asking because I know Mattel has a deal with Disney to do Disney dolls so I wonder if that trickled over to AG since Mattel owns AG as well. Or at least gave them a bit of a “discount”

I would imagine the license applies to every single different item they make, but it does likely cost less based on the huge volume they produce

Even tho I’ve already made a Tiana dress I still want her. I totally agree with the crows feet comment, even tho it didn’t dawn on me until you said something haha.

I do see the clam shell aspect to Ariel, the texture in the top forms a shell shape.She to me depicts more of the animator child line Disney Store has released before. I see the bottom half of the top as her fin thing leading to her tail. Then I think they got the tail great, I would have liked a sequin tail or glittered fin, but like you said I can jewel her tail and the shells myself. Mine will not be wearing her shoes , I wish I could find the sebastian and flounder without the extra dresses

Not a fan of American girl making Disney dolls, or any of the “special” themed or collector dolls. It definitely seems like they are grasping at straws and pulling gimmicks to try and stay afloat. So many of the historical dolls in their current lineup have only a few outfits or items in their collection and haven’t had anything new in years. They keep opting to make new flashy dolls with colored hair, sparkly outfits, etc, rather than staying true to the original vision of pleasant company and American girl. If they survived all those years making great quality items; historically accurate dolls and collections, look-alike dolls with excellent outfits, goty dolls with awesome collections, why are they now resorting to selling cheaply made gimmicks?? It doesn’t make sense to me that “young girls don’t like that stuff anymore” when they DID all those years from the 80s into the 2010s. Technology is surely to blame for kids growing up too fast and not being interested in toys. But American girl has a huge base of adult collectors they could choose to cater to rather than trying to create a doll of the moment to sell to 6 year olds that will either destroy them or play with them for a few weeks tops then move on.

My issue is why didn't Tiana get her frog when both the other two got not one but two of their friends.

I don’t like the Ariel doll and that’s coming from an Ariel stan. The face mold just does not fit and the outfit is….weird. Tiana is STUNNING though. I’m just sad about Ariel😢
