New Discoveries - Mammoth Cave Kentucky
Спорт
We surveyed 5,688 feet over two days of caving in the western-most part of Mammoth Cave on a Cave Research Foundation expedition led by the legendary Mark Jones. Most of this was resurvey that will lay a foundation for pushing into the unknown, but we did add 1,025 feet of new/virgin cave that was mostly walking-sized passage. Caves are delicate and potentially dangerous places. For more information on wild caving, vertical caving techniques, and cave survey, visit the National Speleological Society website:

White Nose Syndrome (WNS) is a disease that is devastating to bats. To learn more about what you can do to help, along with information on how to properly decontaminate caving gear, visit:

I just finished reading 'The Longest Cave' for the third time, and you're still out there adding miles. Beautiful.
It looks like so much fun. Beautiful production. Thanks for taking the time to make this!

Thanks!
I am filled with envy. Loved caving when I was young. This is a beautiful video that makes you want to see what's around that next rock! Those gypsum flowers were freaky cool. Thank you for posting.

I'm not young but will walk past bear scat to reach my mountain surface entry search area. I usually carry a shovel and 10.2 ounces of aerosol pepper spray for what won't accept "NO" for an answer.
I use to live in Kentucky and I have been to the cave many times, the last time I was there I realized I was just as excited then as I was the first time I went.
Great video.... I live 45 minutes away from Mammoth.....been there at least once a year for the last 40 plus years. Thank you for taking us through with you.
I wish I could still I do cave exploring I miss it so much . I've got to old and heavy to do it
Beautiful videography - and I appreciate the titles as well. Thank you.
Great video, Totally awesome! The image is crystal clear, sound tracks perfect and the selection of images are superb. Derek your work with caves now also are behind the splendid lens and light, making this stunishing documentaries, showing us this marvelous underground world. keep doing the good job!
Best video of the ten i've seen, all are high quality. Great job Derek
Well done! And new discoveries still being made, remarkable!
Incredible! Exploring the unknown places makes life worth living!
Fascinating, and so well done. So many cave vids are horrible and unwatchable. Bravo, bravo!
I went to Kentucky with My cousin Tim and his wife to mammoth cave and diamond cave for gem mining and I went to ralfphieys fun center and had a great time
Cavers are a lucky group. We get to see and go places that no one else gets to. Kufos on the 3,000+ foot of new passage. How high was that dome?

The dome is around 100'.

I love how you just become unattached to the above, outside world. Caving is an escape unlike anything else. I love hiking, backpacking, flying, but caving is my new favorite way to explore the great outdoors.
Totally awesome
Crazy cool hobby
The older I get the more I like borehole walking passage

Good work. Wherever NSS explorers can find it.
Wow incredible formations. What bacon rind
I've been in 3 caves that required belly crawling&squirming...my sense of curiosity&claustrophobia have been fully satisfied in such confined underground spaces.
Is the hollow earth map accurate in mapping the deepest tunnel?
Que naturaleza tan perfecta 😎 cuídense mucho chic@s 🥰🥰🥰
Why not camp so you can make it further?
Damn! I missed a good expedition. Stupid flu.
Nice vid, but kinda sad that half the footage was of people walking along prepared paths, with no indication as to what segments were showing previously unexplored or unmapped areas. Meh
So much for not touching the formations with bare hands to keep them from being ruined...
0:00 that stalactite is pointing to the end of the cave
I want to do this. How can I get started?

GPS needs a fairly clear view of the sky so that it has direct line of sight to 4 satellites, so it won't work in a cave. Very low frequency radios have good enough ground penetration to work in a cave. IIRC they operate at around 85 kHz. When used with directional magnetic loop antennas, a surface radio can triangulate the position of a carefully leveled underground transmitting loop.
hmmm....
life is cruel ! now at 70, I can only watch others do what I should have done !
Think i'm half of the views
I prefer the Chad Cave
