New DA-42 VI Flight Vlog! Monterey to Sacramento IFR!
I hope you enjoy the premiere video of N224PG! In this video, we departed into the sunny skies along the coast of Monterey on a SID (Standard Instrument Departure) and arrived at McClellan Airfield, the new home of the twin. I am excited to bring you along on more flights in this incredible aircraft!

Superb visibility. Wish somebody would slip me the keys under the Christmas tree. My last flight was in a Blackhawk in 1996.
excellent video. I got checked out in a DA42 earlier this year after flying the Cirrus for a year. Love the automation and the modern engines. Your radio discipline is excellent. As a retired controller, it's just what is expected; a quick readback just like it was read to you with no extraneous words. Looking forward to more DA42 vids!

Hey thank you very much, I really appreciate it. Retired controller how cool! Thank you for watching.
I'm not sure why this video came up as a recommendation but I'm really glad it did. You are an amazing pilot effortlessly flying an amazing aircraft. My favorite part was your call out of if you didn't like the twitchy wind you'd go around, very very wise ahead of your years, some pilots make the mistake of thinking it is a test of their courage or skills or both to get it down, you are an exemplary example of pilot in command Sir.

Nice aircraft, great video! A trip for me personally, I was a controller at KMCC when it was still an AFB back in the late 80s, and also a private pilot flying out of the aero club there. Landing a Cherokee on a 200' wide, 10,600' long runway was a bit of a challenge when I was used to a 50' wide 2,000' long runway in the Philippines where I first got my license, LOL. I guess your video showed up in my feed because I mentioned McClellan in one or two other videos. Yay algorithms! 😀

Excellent video Blaze! Love the way you talk your way thru checklists, every button pushed, ATC calls, etc. For Non-Pilots like myself, I still understand 95% of what you are saying. Was stationed as Maintenance Engineer @McClellan early 1980s, so climbed every inch of that base. On your Final Approach it was neat orienting all the areas I use to bike to north of the base, i.e., Gibson Park, while watching F-111s on their Finals 1000 ft off ground. The Air Force still has presence there all be it small. If you could post a Flight Path Map during decents it would help us anticipate landmarks out the window. Neat Twin you have! Have Diesels been used in General Aviation before?👏👏

@@westcoastflyer I know you told me you went to a flying school in Auburn Ca. Close to you. Im sure there must be someone at that school that help you. The advantage to going to a big flight shool like ATP or Blueline is that the regionals and majors hire students right out of those schools. They cost more but you get the contacts to get a job. How far are you from getting your ATP rating? You will need that to get to the majors where the big money and big pensions are. You said you were thinking about corporate? Corporate has no union. No pension. Keep that in mind. It is critical to pick the right regional to work for to then move up to the major you want

I asked you if anyone ever explained pension to you? Has anyone ever explained the difference in pay from corporate to regionals to majors to you? How about the right regional to work for so you can move up to the major you want? Have you ever thought of flying cargo instead of passenger? UPS is the top major by far. Top pay and top pension by far. They own more aircraft than any other company in the world. Very secure! You will never worey about getting laid off and the company going bankrupt. They are union. All senority based. The sooner you get in the sooner the big pension clock starts. Its important to pick the right regional to get hired there.

How would you compare the control feel of the DA42 against the SR22T?
@westcoastflyer
11 ай бұрын
I’d say the DA -42 feels more heavy and mushier controls (in a good way). Feels very stable and getting into some bumps are easier in the twin vs the cirrus.
@persistentone3448
11 ай бұрын
The DA42 should shine in situations that need rudder, like crosswinds. They thinned out the tail so it cannot catch side winds, and they put the tail further back, so you get lots of leverage. In addition, the rudder control on DA42 is using control rods, versus pulley on the Cirrus, so you should really feel the control inputs. I wonder if DA62 might make a good small charter platform, which you could sell to passengers based on the safety profile. Diamond needs to improve their marketing.

Good question! Each airport has certain weather minimums to fly VFR while IFR gives us the option to fly through clouds. Though each airport was clear skies, en route I knew there were clouds and I MUST be in an IFR flight plan go got through them. There are other reasons like ATC tells you where to go and have a better eye on you so in my opinion, there is added safety. Hope that helps!
