    I'm a female and US Army veteran and am reading a lot of comments about guys not liking all the assisted folding knives offered by CRKT. Guess what, not everyone has big beefy and/or long fingers to flip folding blades open as easily as David does. I appreciate the 6 assisted folders of the 100 plus fixed and folding knives I own. Many knives that David flips out so easily in his numerous videos without the assist mechanism often don't flip out so readily for me, including knives I own from CRKT, Kizer, Civivi and many other brands. There are plenty of knives without the assisted opening mechanism to chose from and to pretend everyone is the same just is a bit arrogant.

    I like some of the designs but they're almost always made in China from terrible materials. So, I don't own any and I'm unlikely to ever do so. When they have brought out knives in quality materials they tend to be outlandishly expensive. "It's like a plastic Sebenza!" The man definitely earns his money, doesn't he?

    @@nathantylersturgill But they are introducing more knives with D2 over time. I assume the cost of D2 has decreased. I'd also guess that they agree to buy a certain amount of each steel from the supplier, to get a better deal. And it's probably a right decent amount of steel they agree to buy. So using it up can take awhile. So probably as they finish up with steel, they can adjust how much of each type they get.

I took it to a place where they sharpened mainly scissors for beauty parlors in Columbus Ohio. It came back to me razor sharp with a mirror edge. Unfortunately when I was traveling doing construction for Lowe's home improvement , the Bexley west Virginia Sheriffs department Stold it from me saying it was illegal😄 I called back the next morning from a hotel phone and this evil cop woman said there was no record of it being confiscated😄 When I told her the pig in general kept playing with it she got angry with me and I hung up and immediately evacuated my hotel room and went to the next job in Brooklyn. Nothing like good old po dunk police😄 Yea...he straight stole it from me. True story.

    Oh, they're not going to do that. Their materials aren't an accident, or lack of innovation. They're specifically targeting people who can't afford expensive knives. And there's a LOT of them in this country alone. Someone who loves knives but doesn't make much, can for example, buy one great knife a year, or 4-5 pretty good knives. This is America, the majority will choose the 4-5. Walmart most definitely didn't become obsolete selling cheaper quality items......

  • @spydercoslacker7466

    @spydercoslacker7466

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@lordgarion514 You’re right that they probably won’t change, and that it’s because they’ll continue making money. However, it’s probably not because of low income or that people will buy quantity over quality. It’s mainly about education and knowledge about the manufacturing costs of knives. In this video we were shown multiple knives with 8cr or 4116 steel over $50, which is outrageous compared to other competitive companies such as QSP or Civivi. If more people were exposed to these competitive companies, easily done if Walmart started selling their knives, then CRKT would be forced to change or face bankruptcy.

  • @lordgarion514

    @lordgarion514

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@spydercoslacker7466 Not really, sure those $50 knives from the more expensive companies indeed have better steel. But the metal isn't the only thing that costs money. Most of those better steel $50 knives have smaller blades, so less steel. It's also common for those cheaper knives from the more expensive companies to have simpler designs overall. In other words, they're not comparable. Not everyone wants mostly small knives with plainer designs. Also, there's over 37 million Americans living below the poverty line. There's more than that that aren't below the line, but still struggle with bills. And better steel is only better up to a point for most people. If you buy the most expensive steel, but don't push it more than what a steel a quarter of the cost should deal with, you've wasted money. Very few people who buy a Spyderco would actually break the blade on one of these CRKT blades in their normal use. So the CRKT steel is in fact "tough" enough for them. So it comes down to having to sharpen the CRKT knives a little more often.

  • @tima7662

    @tima7662

    Take a look at some of the CRKT's from just 2-3 years ago. They are stepping up their game quite a bit. The thing I really like about CRKT is that they use top designers to get budget versions into everyone's hands. Their designs are much better than Kershaw and Gerber. It looks like the QC is getting better as well. Everyone complains about 8Cr and D2(5 years ago, this stuff was considered high end or higher end). Thing is, these steels allow you to learn how to sharpen and strop your knives. Higher end steels are harder to sharper and I ,personally, would learn how to sharpen before messing up the secondary bevel/sharpening angle or learning which grit the steels sharpen with the best. Budget steels do just fine on what most people use them for anyway. CRKT's doing well, they're using better materials and their QC is improving. Yes, companies like Civivi, Kizer, QSP, Kubey, Petrified Fish, etc are using better steels and materials. They all make great knives. Just look at all of the choices you get. It's a great time to be a knife collector. CRKT is getting budget versions of top, well know designers in your hands. You will pay more for these designs because CRKT pays residuals to these designers and they demand and get more for their designs. Believe me when I say that if you use a CRKT knife daily and for normal every day use, they work. You, also, will not freak out or stress out if you drop one. Dropping a CRK, Hinderer, or any high end, super steel knife and scratching it or breaking off the tip will make you want to cry! CRKT make great beater knives. Use them like the cutting tool they are and learn how to sharpen. If you know how to sharpen, you had to learn somewhere and budget steels work great at learning.

    I agree with you, tail mounted deep carry pocket clip can't be in enough blades! Except, you see, I wish it wasn't on the CEO knives, as I would prefer the original tip down orientation for that style of knife. If you're wearing them in your chest front pocket "executive style" like you would a pen, with the tip down orientation it comes out of the pocket ready for an index flip (or thumb stud operation). With tip up as it is now, it just is just not as smooth imo (either you pull it out very unlike a pen, not good iimo; or you pull, flip orientation, flip open, less cool imo).

She said have at it. She likes a few her self aswell. Ladies gentlemen we are making headway. Much respect to all. Buy what you like and like what you buy. Have a good day to all. Thanks KnifeCenter. Holy shit I’ve never seen an assisted that could close like that! Ok that’s pretty cool. Don’t know that I’d opt for assisted if they could get a strong enough detent for a manual flipper with the deadbolt, but that’s still really cool.

    I just literally yelled YES when I saw this video drop! I just tried to search for the new CRKTs for 2022 yesterday & found a video from last summer. Looking forward to DCA showing these knives. The mini CEO, Fawkes, Delineation & Mahawk are friggin awesome. Love the new Wharncliffe/Sheepsfoot blades.🔥🤩🤩

    I really love the CRKT knives, but I've been waiting on my Provoke First Responder for 5 or 6 weeks now, really frustrating how long it's been on backorder.

    Hi DCA, I was wondering if you could recommend some of the best fit and finish knives in some price brackets. The "Sebenza" so-to-speak for each price bracket under 50, 75, or 100 dollars or whatever you think appropriate.

    I'm curious about the dead bolt lock by CRKT. With the reviews I've read people have said the lock is either really gritty or there is some vertical blade play. I would like to get the Inazuma no Ken but I am concerned. There's no HRC rating on CRKT's D2. I want to know what exactly I am getting performance wise.

    A sabre grind is any grind that starts some percentage down the blade leaving some flats at full width correct? Hollow or flat also?

    I'm really hoping to find my minimalist, someone in my house it must be but been lost awhile. Thing is so comfortable in hand and while worn, seriously lies flush with your chest, doesn't print, I'd go to bed and forget it was still worn. The big boy katana one looks nifty. If I can convince myself that I "need it" I'll surely be shopping. Local Dicks sporting goods has been out of stock with the m16 since 2020, they really don't give a crap anymore when it comes to that corner department. They stopped selling guns in most their stores as a PR move, now no one is back their to ring you up. I wonder if it is a blue state conundrum.

    I have a question, I really like that “inazuma no ken” sweeping, almost Japanese style tanto blade on a folder. Are there any others with a comparable blade shape (that aren’t super narrow like a kwaiken), maybe even more premium versions?

    You should check out the premium Williams blade design knives. They make a more premium version of that and it’s wonderful! Perfect defensive shape.

    Have a look at some of the folders made by Mcusta. They usually are a little more of a drop-point shape, rather than a trailing-point.

    What's the point of cutting up a bunch of cardboard. It's going to cut boxes up no problem and when it gets dull run it over a diamond knife sharpening stick. I don't waste time cutting up boxes to dull my blade. It gets a little dull from daily cutting tasks
