New COVID Variants and a Rise in Cases - What We Know About EG.5 (Eris) and BA.2.86

Ғылым және технология

COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are on the rise, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). However, the director of the CDC reminded people that the U.S. is seeing about one-quarter of the hospitalizations in August 2023 compared to August 2022. Dr. Stuart Cohen, chief of infectious diseases at UC Davis Medial Center, explains what we know about the new COVID variants EG.5 (Eris) and BA.2.86, why COVID is treated differently in 2023 than it was in 2020, and how people in high risk groups can protect themselves as COVID-19 cases rise.

    Did we know at what tissue temperature did SARS COV2 new variants better replicate? Why? Because at TWiV 659 at min29 (2020) virologist Christian Drosten suggest that SARS COV2 better replicate at very low tissue temperature. Theoretically,high mucouseal respiratory temperature protect against SARS COV2 infection. Also ,,mask wearing,,can increase upper respiratory temperature May be erytocyte sludgging occur also ?

    Our county has high vaccination rate. Ones in hospital are unvaccinated 50 and up. or 70 and up that are not totally vaccinated. 80 year old passed away have underlying health condition. . Lots of workers have Covid. Masking causes low oxygen levels in me and chest pain this has occurred because I am now on meds to regulate my heart rate. Did not happen before when I was not on heart meds. I had Covid and had about 3 immunizations. Do not know where I got it. So careful

  • @chasugc3740

    @chasugc3740

    I know where you got it. You got it from someone else, who likely got up in your face without a mask, and they didn't know they had it. When you got it doesn't really matter, because it won't change the fact. Blaming someone doesn't help, because it really was your fault. You obviously let someone who had Covid get in your face. If you have family members who are ignorant to it, then you could have got it from them. It has an incubation period of up to 10 days before one even shows symptoms. Or, maybe they've had it so much that they barely get sick now, but they are like a mass spreader. Or, they knew they were sick and didn't care, assuming they would just recover. In the meantime they were just passing it around to everyone else. I was at the Pharmacy the other day and one of the cashiers said that he was sick with the Flu. He assumed it was the Flu, and he wasn't even wearing a mask. His excuse was that a mask is so constraining and uncomfortable. I angrily told him that it is not always about him. He flushed in embarrassment a little bit, but I can see that he didn't really care about anyone but his own comfort. I had my mask on, and I stayed away from him. During this pandemic, people really shouldn't be allowed to come to work sick, especially cashiers. But, this is the kind of world that we live in. People think only of themselves. I just hope no old person got sick and died because of his ignorance. I still wear a KN95 mask, social distance, and I've had all four boosters. I've never had Covid. Paper masks don't work, because they don't protect you. They only reduce your potential of spreading it. You really need at least a KN95 mask or N95 mask to provide some protection to yourself. But, even that won't help if you let some sick person get in your face. Social distancing is important. I heavily researched Covid when it first came out, and everyone was getting sick and many were dying from it. That is when I switched to a KN95 or N95 mask. Taking safety precautions to stay healthy and wearing a silly mask and social distancing isn't a problem for me because my health and longevity is important to me. I don't want the Flu, and I definitely don't want Covid. I want to live long and healthy. Be safe. Peace.
