First thing James, you need to sort the sound deadening in the first f Room with the turntable in it. Other than that, great again

I’m only familiar with that term in making vehicles quieter. Can you tell me what you mean when I’m relation to talking in a room? Thanks
@StudioMagnetique
3 жыл бұрын
Firstly, it is important to distinguish between ‘sound-proofing’ and ‘sound deadening’. Sound proofing, as in sound proof rooms and to some extent, vehicles, is the endeavour to stop noise entering, or leaving a space. Extremely complicated, very expensive to do properly, and not what we are talking about here. Sound deadening, or ‘acoustic treatment’ is what is needed in this case as is simply a matter of making one or more surfaces within a room less reflective by adding absorbent panelling or tiles. The sound issue @vrsmartin2981 is referring to is due to James’ space being reflective on all walls. Typical of a warehouse or hanger. Sound leaves the mouth and bounces from wall to wall, ceiling to floor and makes spoken word more difficult to interpret. By adding sound deadening to the ceiling and one or two walls, the reflections would have nowhere to bounce off and the general acoustics of the space would be hugely improved.

@@StudioMagnetique that's the one. Some of the pointy triangle foam pads. Doesn't even need to be all over the wall. Problem is its a big space. I'm sure James will get it sorted soon

Room sound is 1, but where is that low rumble coming from? Low cut equaliser can help to get it away.

Best day of my life was getting my 1983 Range Rover back from being restored,nothing anywhere near this fancy, but I can relate to the body roll and rattling 😂

Magnificent! I love these classic rovers and with the modernisation, I'm seriously considering adding one to my garage. Great job.

Yes, exactly What is this noise? Hope not a mounting quality issues…🤔
Met Durran a few times through work, he is a lovely chap. The work they do with The Jensen stuff is arguably even more impressive, I like to think they do what we as car enthusiasts would do ourselves given the funds and the talent, Restomod is definitely the best description, They could have whacked in a SVR engine and stiff suspension and big wheels and it would be cool, but not THAT cool

The Aston, Rolls and now a range rover, 3 cracking videos on iconic british brands within a week 👌
very nice indeed!! A car dear to my heart (learned to drive in a manual V8 back in the 90's). The only visual negative being that it sits a little too low and some of the character has been lost at the front, but apart from that.. epic!.. Do a Defender restomod vid next! (ps. about to have one done with a big V8..)
As usual, another great review! Keep them coming

I also came to the comments to see if anyone mentioned the rattles - would absolutely drive me crazy. The passenger seat was vibrating like it was about to take off. The Icon/Derelict car company does amazing restomods and not a rattle to be heard - though I think their work runs into extremely high $$$ range. Love the idea behind this vehicle, but it’s not a win for me yet.

They always rattled even from new...
A really nice example, the engine and transmission work well in this set up but it would have been nice to have a peek underneath at the suspension set-up. Despite what others may say, that interior is relatively quiet compared to my meagre 1989 3.5 V8 but it is all part of the charm and character to a RRC, it's not a sterile, boring eurobox, it's a functional utility vehicle that just happens to do it's job effortlessly and with a certain amount of comfort. I had a 1966 SIIA LWB pick up that had no power steering, no power brakes, no synchromesh in the gearbox, no sound deadening and the hi-lo headlight switch was a button on the floor by the left foot! It was by far the most demanding to drive out of all the cars and motorbikes i have owned yet it was ironically also the most rewarding. What I am saying basically is, if you are buying a Land Rover you know what you are getting into and you love it's idiosyncrasies all the more for it, if you want boring and bland, buy Japanese.

You should see the other cars these guys make, the first Chieftain had supercharged LSE power, they also do a very original looking version, metal bumpers, higher ride etc
2 biggest mistakes IMO - The Colour - The low ride hight
@douglaspealing5608
3 жыл бұрын
It looks wrong. Colour for me is irrelevant but I agree, the rideheight shouldn't have been touched. I don't like the moulded bumpers either tbh, and I think these cars need a lot of sidewall on the tyres to look right
@lewiscannon8213
3 жыл бұрын
@@douglaspealing5608IMO, Chieftain should have made a Range Rover Resto that appealed to a much wider audience, it should have looked 75/80% original WITH modern touches like Alcantara headliner door trims Seat's and improved engine and gearbox from Jaguar not US Chevy, and a Paint that is more suited to the bodywork.

@@lewiscannon8213 fully agree. Classic Range rovers actually drive pretty well if you know how they behave. It's counterintuitive to anything else I've driven but you can make them work for you. And yes, there are so many options tou could have uses from JLR that would have been better. Smaller, fit the car better and probably be more efficient too. Shit, the Rover V8 wasn't a bad engine. It could have made quite a bit more power with a tickle. I did really like the interior. Favourite part was the headlining... and the fact that it's not sagging and looking like a tent yet - I give it 10 years tho.

That’s a dope Range Rover and if you disagree you’re just wrong
this is but one modified RRC 1988 It was fitted with an LS engine and manual gearbox back in 2002 nearly 20 years ago so it hardly a new idea, By the way I have 20 other RRC's and the one with the LS is the best!
