Something to consider is chicken wire is made to keep chickens in, not keep predators out! As a example, I dog kennel had chain link fencing on it and my dog chewed right through it to get out of the kennel! Chichen wire a lot thinner then chain link fencing! I ended up putting cattle panels around my kennel to keep my dog from chewing thru the fencing! I highly recommend you at least put hardware cloth around the bottom on all 4 sides least 3 foot high to ensure predators don't chew their way into your coop run! Yes, it's a little expensive! But it's worth it keeping your animals safe! Sadly, I have seen too many enclosures built with chicken wire that the predators get right thru and killed every bird in the flock! It's a terrible sight to walk out and see first thing in the mornings! I don't have foxes here, but i do have coyotes and with the hrdware cloth my 12'X20' chicken coop run tractor has never been penetrated into the Chicken's home yet in 5 years and counting! I actually just bought a structure/kit similar to yours with that same green netting! Admittedly I believe it'd somewhat stronger then chicken wire? But I still don't trust it enough to keep out larger predators? I ran the hardware cloth around my structure over the netting on the bottom up 4 feet high! Hopefully I won't need more hardware cloth to go over the roof too? Better safe then sorry! Best of luck

Love the new chicken enclosure! My plot neighbor gave me some fresh chicken eggs the other day, they were lush! They've gone from 3 rescue chickens to 7 and now they're all laying they have more eggs than they can eat!!!

Its a good position to be in. I give a fair few eggs away but then people give me veg and plants over the year so it works out nice.

Fantastic video. I've just ordered myself one of these coops. Hoping to give some hens a loving home.

@leesapollo when you do the roof wire make sure there's no sharp edges near the tarp. 👍

Nice job with what looks like a nice piece of kit - it's the poshest coop I've seen! A question to ponder - why isn't the wire called 'fox wire' rather than 'chicken wire? 😁

To answer your question as politely as possible, chicken wire is strictly to contain chickens or smaller animals! It's not strong enough to keep out larger predators that can literally go thru chicken wire like it's hot butter! Hardware Cloth is a better wire fencing to keep out the larger predators! Unfortunately, I have known and seen way too many runs (Chickens or otherwise) that's had the predators go right through the chicken wire and kill every bird in the coop! Please don't make this mistake! Better safe then sorry and use Hardware cloth!

@@Robutube1 Just a little more insight on Hardware cloth, since you not heard of it before! It comes in different sizes, so you can buy usually sizes closer to what you need. the wire is actually welded together leaving square holes. Again you can get it with the square holes in different openings. I got 1/2' square holes, but I've seen 1" holes too! I figured the 1/2 would be a little stronger then having the larger square holes? Not sure where your located? But Home Depot often has the Hardware Cloth, just not as good of a selection usually! If you have a Wilco Feed Store or probably any feed store will have the Hardware Cloth too! That's why I try to give out information when I can. No one knows everything unfortunately but wish I did! 😀 I rather someone let me know before something goes wrong, then afterwards! You know that saying right? (Now you tell me!) I hate when that happens! Sadly, I just lost 3 ducks and a goose the other night! It's been raining like crazy and my feild was really flooded. I couldn't get my ducks and geese to come out of the cold rain water and it was barely above freezing anyway! So as much as I hated to, I left them outside in the flooded water that look more like a lake! About 2am I went out to see if I could get them out of the water yet? unfortunately some predator(S) already got all my ducks and one of my geese! Needless to say I was pretty upset! Next time I'm going to have to figure out how to get them out of the water whether they like it or not! Maybe hip boots? One good thing about chickens, least they usually go back into their coop on their own! Not so lucky with Ducks and geese, it's a every night chase to get them into their coop!

Is that just bark chips you're using for the floor?

Yes. Truth is I use any biodegradable carbon, like chippings & straw as it makes good compost. Doesn't smell and thr worms breed in it so the chickens love scratching in it..

Honest opion. I think mines too small & I'm in the process of making it bigger. 1m² each bird minium is probably best. 👍
