New ChatGPT Writing Prompts Will Change How You Use ChatGPT

If you use ChatGPT to help you write anything, I’m sure you’ve noticed that it doesn’t do a good job without a solid prompt or a lot of back and forth.
With the new memory upgrade, you can now massively improve its writing and you only have to do this once and get ChatGPT to store this in memory.
Step 1: Analyze a sample of your own writing style and then commit it to memory
Step 2: Ban these words from the ChatGPT vocabulary
Step 3: Customize Response Length

Awesome
Great explanation...thanks for showing us this! Can you apply those memory prompts to specific GPTs and have it committed to the memory for a specific GPT? Like, if I create a GPT for blog writing, and one for Facebook posts, and one for YT scripts, can each have its own memory instructions? Thanks.

Not yet. GPTs don’t have the memory function but in the announcement, they said it was coming

@@SkillLeapAI thank you for that info. I think that will be an incredible feature for GPTs to have!
I always watch your presentation on AI. Really good. I downloaded from the link but got a different presentation "Improve ChatGPT with memory prompts" not the one shown?

It’s the same I believe. I just titled the PDF different, but same prompts
I'm concerned that if we force it to write short responses, the quality of the response will suffer since it won't have the step-by-step thinking process to reflect on as it's writing. In the future, when GPT has the ability to think and analyze on a "scratch pad" of sorts, this won't be an issue. For right now, I generally only tell it to be brief when I don't care so much about the accuracy of the response, like when I'm just looking for a general gist or asking about something relatively unimportant. Also, for the shortcut prompt, I think it's probably sufficient to just tell it to look for that shortcut in the FRONT. For example, "Whenever I START a prompt with /short, you should respond with only 1 or 2 sentences max." That's way less cumbersome to type than those curly braces.

Yea I prefer longer too, but lot of times, I only need one sentence responses for newsletter, email and website copy.
Foremost, thanks for your great advice, as always. Second, I requested the PDF, but the link you sent doesn't work. That is a great pity.

How is this any different than custom instructions?

It’s similar but this is easier and gives you more control. I’m assuming it will replace custom instructions at some point though.
