Korean naming conventions arrange names as follows: [FAMILY NAME] [personal name]. For example, KIM Min Su (male) or LEE Hyori (female). Each Korean name usually consists of three syllables. The first is the family name while the second and third are the given name. KIM jimin - jimin KIM seokjin - jin KIM taehyung - V KIM nam joon - RM JEON jungkook - JK Or jungkook MIN yoon gi - SUGA JUNG ho seok - J-HOPE

Thanks for reacting to BTS. I'm 85 years old and only became an ARMY in 2020 during the pandemic. I was alone, depressed, and facing health issues. I needed a friend or companion. Their songs and happy videos were such a blessing. They made me smile, laugh, and cry sometimes, but I loved their creativity, their talent, and most of all their humility. Listening to them with reactors like yourself made me feel like I wasn't so alone because there was someone share them with, and the fact that I could even comment back to the reactors or to other commenters who are also ARMY, regardless of where they were from in the world, made me feel less lonely. I'm happy that you've become ARMY, too. 💜💜

I love watching your reactions. I'm a 35 year old woman, I discovered BTS in 2020 when my husband became sick with cancer. I'd heard of them but never taken the time to listen or given them a chance. I fell down the rabbit hole just as you are now. There's just something about their positivity and concepts of self love and mental health awareness that other artists don't have. My husband passed away a year ago and I've really struggled but listening to their music and watching the joy of reactors like you as you discover them takes me out of my dark mind briefly. It's a reprieve that's so needed for me. Thank you and I hope you continue on this journey, I'll be here to watch.

Thanks for your reaction. As for what you mean about BTS going under your radar, I think it's because BTS's songs aren't broadcast on USA radio... it's the domain of the American music industry that doesn't make money from BTS. There is something called payola that is very common on USA radio where the record companies basically pay the radio stations to play music of their artists... Army only managed to get BTS heard on the radio for a while, especially during the pandemic with the 3 songs in English that BTS launched on the market but since then, the doors on the radio have been pretty much closed to the group. In addition, Billboard has been changing the rules in recent years due to BTS hits, so it is increasingly difficult for them to reach #1, (Jimin make #1 at Billboard 100 this year and the chart changed few days later the rules without notice and Jimin couldn't maintain #1 despiste being the top seller album of the next week) but it no longer counts when the artist sells more records but also streaming, especially on the radio (where you can't listen to BTS anymore) Due to the great content that BTS has on KZread, they have also changed the algorithm and the views of BTS's videos, it is believed that it is something that KZread does because of the amount of money ir has to pay to BTS for the original content that although Army watch a lot BTS content is no longer reflected the same as before, especially the first 24 hours of the release of some video, since we reached more than 100 million views in the first 24 hours of Dynamite and Butter, but the group's new videos no longer reflect those numbers. So by different means they still seek to sabotage BTS But Army is worldwide so we continue to support these amazing and talented young man 💜 Regards form México

Thank you for your amazing comment! Wow! So much info! And I couldn't agree with you more. I'm really seeing it and hearing it more and more that industry's are money hungry and don't care about what's behind the song. The artist or the emotions it gives off to people. They need that bottom dollar, and it sucks because it's been going on for years.

What's even more admirable about BTS is after garnering numerous awards over the years, they remained humble and grounded, they never felt entitled and always owe their success to the Army. That's one of the reasons why I love them 😊 & I'm a 60 y/o BTS Army mom here from the Philippines. Hitman Bang is a moniker of Mr Bang Si Hyuk, the founder of BTS. Prior to establishing Big Hit Ent. he was a song writer and producer for JYP Entertainment and produced many hit songs for the agency's artists. That's why he is called hitman. As for their names, it might interest you to know that Asian names of Chinese descent start their name with their surnames first. And in Asian culture, hierarchy of age is an honored tradition of respect. So while westerners call their elders by their first names, Asians use honorifics before or after their names. Hope you enjoy your dive into BTS's artistry 💜.

Hi me again, commenting as I watch the video. And you've just mentioned Linkin Park's transition throughout the years and omg yes, I remember back when they collabed with Jay-Z that a lot of fans were complaining about how their sound was changing and blah blah blah. I also remember being younger and at the time I listened to a lot of rock bands and there was a lot of complaints every time a band started getting "too poppy". And I get it, but I think as I matured I started diversifying my taste and also admiring artists who have courage to explore new genres. I really love how diverse BTS's discography is, because it means that they have a song for every mood you're in. Artists who don't change sometimes can start getting a boring and all their songs start sounding the same, but that's something that will never happen with BTS because all the members have different interests and tastes and they aren't afraid to try new things, and ARMYs kind of expect that, we know they're not boxed inside a specific genre.

Random note: for Butter, after watching the MV, I suggest watching their first live performance of it which was for the Billboard Music Awards (to see the full choreo; although it was performed remotely with no audience, per pandemic times), and then the live performance at the 2022 Grammy's (live in person). Just remember that it's one of their three pandemic-era, all-English "bright cheery pop" songs... you already know, they go much deeper than that, but it's fun to watch anyway. For the Grammy's, it was a miracle that it happened because Jin had injured his left hand (requiring surgery) so they had to adapt the stage/routine to include him since he couldn't dance for most of the song; and Jungkook got Covid shortly after landing in the US on that trip; meanwhile, J-Hope was waiting out quarantine in Korea because he'd gotten Covid a bit earlier and he only arrived in the US the day or so before the performance. They had very little time to practice as all seven together... so the fact they performed it perfectly in the end shows just how professional and experienced they are.

just wanna leave here that Dynamite WASN'T an evil plan of domination lol they've said multiple times that when they heard the song they all agreed that it just sounded better in eng so they left it like that + they wanted to reach with positivity to as many people as possible bc it was half a year since pandemic started and we all remember how hard those times were with all new adjustments and sacrifices we had to do. we as a fandom aimed for topping the BB chart because we always make goals according to the army resources we have and we were very dedicated to give them this present AND it was pandemic so having something to strive for and be excited about was very much welcomed. fandom contribution is a huge part of how bts top the BB charts because the main instrument you can do it with - the radio play - isn't available for them without payola which they refused to do way back when they just entered US market. even the first hyped up english single didn't get as much radio play as literally any other western artists in the same weeks. we were against WAP which was veryyyy popular. we had to aim for scoring 700-800 points to have a chance to take the first place. that's a lot because sometimes when the competition on the music scene isn't strong at the moment 1st place can be achieved with 200 points. what i want to say: number 1 at hot100 wasn't guaranteed or secured, even we weren't sure, neither was it expected by the boys. they were so surprised and excited and couldn't believe their eyes. some of them slept through the chart weekly announcement bc they didn't think it was something to anticipate even. next day when they went live they couldn't stop staring at the phone screen with the chart's top10. it was their dream indeed, they've said it before, but never did they adjusted their voice as artists to checkpoint something in their want list. since the very beginning their stance was "let's not think about the charts and trophies too much, because if we do, it doesn't seem that we care about the Music anymore" (not the exact quote but the meaning is there). i don't disregard that it was really a smart move to release an english single and the company most likely saw where this is going, BUT esp with this movie reference about operating the theft or whatever it sounds like bts released dynamite with a hidden intent that was meticulously planed lol. while they've also said a lot of times that dynamite wasn't in the schedule at all. if not the pandemic, they would have been touring that august, but the world was closed off and ofc they had a need to reach out to armys at least this way, so they did dynamite bc it's a happy song in the dark times :) overall with this "documentary" video i often feel like some dynamics of bts' rise were manipulated to fit the flow of the story, just like with dynamite. while the main points are referenced correctly in chronologic and numbers, the view on the story is very narrow and success-focused. it leaves out a lot of factors that contributed to both bts' breakthroughs and backlogs so it's insightful but also can be misleading without access to more information, in my opinion solely

Regarding your comment on how, even though they have all those awards, it doesn't seem like they're that mainstream, it's because of ✨️ xenophobia ✨️ well, mainly. And the fact that BTS won't participate in payola (which, in case you don't know, it's when you pay radio stations to play a song). Maybe, if BTS did what the US industry forces non-English artists to do, and started releasing only English songs, they could be more mainstream. BTS has mentioned that they know that there are things they could've done that could have accelerated or increased their impact, but that they didn't want to lose themselves and their identity in the persue of it.

since you reacted to these two guides i think its very important to react to bts hardships by xceleste the 2013-2021 version because neither videos went too deep into their struggles and its important to keep in mind that as these amazing things were happening there was also a lot of pain, hardship etc that was happening at the same time. example the hate they got every time they won a award due to classism and them not supposed to succeed over the bigger groups that came from bigger labels. bts came from a small label and they succeeded without the industry support and people were saying they were winning due to charity basically taking away their hard work and saying people were just giving them the awards cause they felt bad for them. when thats not the case they won those awards fair because of their hard work and great music. thats just one example a lot of things were happening at the same time as these great accomplishments that who knows if bts even were able to feel the happiness of the awards all the time with the amount of hate they received.

After you watch the Butter music video you need to watch their Butter performance at the Grammy's. It will blow your mind. And keep in mind, they didn't win the Grammy or as we call it the "Scammy's". You have to literally have to wine and dine the academy to win one. I am happy that BTS isn't willing to do that. The Scammy's don't deserve to have BTS ever grace their stage again!

Names in Korea start with the family name first. Then there are either 1 or 2 names. When politely talking to someone you say their full name. (with or without honorifics) Only family members or close friends call you without family name or call you by nickname. And here even age determines how you call someone. (think Mr. Mrs. Ms. Sir, etc.) Men are called Uncle, women are called Aunt even if they are not related. As with BTS the will sometimes add Hyung at the end of names denoting brother. This is becoming long but doesn't include all I wanted to convey, sorry. Asian culture fascinates me ever since stumbling onto BTS!

45:20 Hitman Bang was smart when they rearranged the company. He kept BTS and TXT under Big Hit Music instead of transferring their contracts to HYBE so that he kept the creative control over those two groups no matter what. That's why we call them BTS's little brothers. You should see them interact; it's so sweet (there are YT compilations of them together 😄). More recent groups are signed under HYBE. He also ensured (and rightfully so) that all BTS members received valuable shares in the merger in recognition of their immense impact on the once almost bankrupt company. 💜 (Yes, I'm late on this video because I have some issues with this one but the host won me over. 🤭)

Other ARMYs have probably mentioned already but when they got their first daesang (main award) in MAMA in 2016, they REALLY weren't expecting it. I think due to how big they are NOW, sometimes it's hard for people to understand how HUGE that win was, how monumental, but also how unexpected and surprising it was for both them and ARMYs (even though we were hopeful). That's why they were crying so much. It really was a surprise. And they could never imagine what was to come, so, for them, they must have felt like they had made it. That was their biggest dream and they had achieved it. It really was and still is a dear moment for them and us. They were THE FIRST group not from one of the "BIG 3" kpop agencies to win that.

Bang Si-Hyuk aka Hitman Bang or Bang PD is the man behind BTS and, in turn, BTS built Big Hit into Hybe, a publicly traded company. Bang PD has shaped BTS’s career trajectory from the beginning. Yet, he gave members the creative independence to grow on their own, and with each other, so we now have 7 musicians who excel on their own but unabashedly state at every opportunity that they miss their brothers and look forward to a 2025 reunion. I wish there was a documentary on Bang’s role or perspective.

This video is a perfect recap of all their title group songs, there has been so many solos and soundcloud songs in between that are and are not on albums. And it's probably mentioned before but BTS's success is not without downs either, you would think with this video that BTS made it time after time and it was easy. It is/was not. The amazing story of BTS is that they did it without the "support" of the music industry, they made it on their own and that's why the music bis hates them. Globally and in S. Korea. They didn't need or take money to "sell out" and get their music to number one. They don't do it for money either, they do it for their passion of music and the love and healing they can bring through music and this around the world. I've been with them since pre-debut, we worked harder, maybe 10 times harder than any fan base out there whether it's kpop or just western music fan bases, to get them those records, awards and recognitions, and time after time they tried to down play it, with no radio plays, the views and streams getting deleted twice as much as others artists. Even after months we see views/streams dropping on MV's and other stuff. I've been ignored here in Belgium as well by radio stations to get them even to play one song of them. Belgium is very hard to get music in the charts and make it, even though we are very very small, that's why we are mentioned too in this video. We love our boys, they come to us in times we need them the most. We fight together over and over again against the big industry of music and humans. i would recommend these video's as well to get a better view of what we are fighting against. BTS vs Music industry kzread.info/dash/bejne/gKt9zcaAfMKuhag.html Xceleste BTS' Hardships (and not even all are mentioned here but it's a very good overview.) kzread.info/dash/bejne/d5iNmNmnfNbLpLQ.html 💜💜💜

Hey, I saw your reaction to bts and was happy that you went into it with a clear mind and not prejudiced. Thank you. I started listening to BTS back in 2014, but did not give much attention. I just liked their music and listened to it casually. It was during 2017 when I was going through one of the most darkest times in my life that I found the power of their music. At that time, I was having both career and health problems. I felt like a loser, a failure and did not know what to do. I was lost, broken and had no one to support me. I really started contemplating if this life was worth living. During that time, co-incidentally I came across BTS song "awake", tho it was a solo song of Jin in bts album, the lyrics matched my situation and mindset. It spoke to me like no other song. I don't even remember how many times I listened to the song. I cried and cried as I listened. Next day, I felt much better and tho, all the problems were still there, I felt like I cud face it now. Thats when I became an army. There are several kpop grps I listen to and several that I love but there is just one BTS for me. Their music is the reason I did not give up on myself and thats when I knew what was so special about them and their music. I assure you, you would never regret discovering them. I hope the beauty and magic of their music touches you too. Borahae 💜💜

Is the hope and the fact that it will always... work out in the end. Part of the reason ARMY consider the American Hustle Llife cringey is because they were set up with a fake kidnapping that they had no idea was fake. Keep in mind Jungkook was still pretty much a child and everyone else in their later teens in a country where only one of them actually knew the language. It's all on film how freaked out they were. I watched it one time and can't bring myself to watch it again.

BTS changed changed as they grew up. So it was natural, and accepted as their fans were growing up with them and BTS writes lyrics from their lives, things they were going through. They were a threat to the other Big Media companies from their debut, as you saw they were really good. Because their music had a hard message about how Korean youth are treated and ridiculous expectations put on them. Parents, gov. and schools didn't like that. They caught a lot of hate in Korea. In fact they took off in USA and south America before Korea. and Then, it went NUTS! The guys went through hell, yet kept fighting and having each other's back. ARMY became their protectors, and got to work. The best 2 BUTTER MV to watch is the grammy performance, and the dance practice ,Butter, Meagan 3 stallion 3J. Trust this old ARMY. also, You will love the MV of Not Today and Idol. Idol you will need to watch the explanation video too or you will miss 3/4 of the great korean language play and culture. this rice squad guy is the best of all the explanation video's.

Besides vocal line and rap line you will see a lot of other "lines" referenced from time to time...here is a quick breakdown of some of the common ones: The rapline: RM, J-hope, Suga Vocal line: JK, Jimin, V, Jin ... the "hyung line" )...ie the older members: RM, Suga, Jin, Jhope the "Maknae line"...the younger members: Jimin, V, JK You might also hear the 95 line (the members born in 1995): V & Jimin, 94 line (those born in 1994): RM & J-hope, The dance line: JK, Jimin, J-hope and V the visual line: Jin, V & JK...(although lets face it they are all beautiful). The Kim line (or sometimes called the Kim brothers): Jin, RM & V, The 3J's: a special dance line grouping made of the 3 lead dancers (JK, Jimin and J-hope)...check out for instance the 3J performance of Butter remix, and just for fun...The troublemaker line lol: V & JK Obviously, this is just a way the fandom uses to group different qualities of the members together on different things but so you're not confused when you see them that covers most of them I think.

In Korea they show the surname first. In the US ‘John Smith’ there would be shown as ‘Smith John’. In the US you would think of his name as ‘Jimin Park’ Min in the family name (and a name of Royalty), Yoongi is his first name. Shown as they do, we say ‘Min Yoongi’. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for the kind comment! I'm so excited to get everything underway. I've had a few learning curves to get over but I think I'm starting to understand more. It's so much fun and I'm glad you are on this journey with me!

@@MasterGo89 of course! And I totally get the learning curve lol it can be a lot at once especially becoming a fan later on in their career but once you’ve got it then the rest will come easy. As long as you are having fun and enjoying them for being them then I think it’s okie if you don’t remember/know every inside joke or every detail about them lol and me too! I’m glad I found your channel and get to do this! It’s like watching them for the first time again and I never thought I’d get to do that 🥹🫰🏻💜

Loved your comment on how you're currently studying for your BTS exam 😂 not sure you'll remember but in a previous comment I mentioned a friend who is a huge Linkin Park fan, and not gonna lie, when I started showing him BTS videos and stuff, I basically sent him a lot of photos of the members with some info and would test his knowledge so he'd learn their names and to identify them and know a little bit about them (at the time, YEEEARS ago, there wasn't as many good introduction videos to show him). His memory isn't the best with names and he was terrible at identifying them in the beginning, so he kept forgetting unless I associated them with some information and tested him. And it helped! He's great now. Knows all the stage names, birth names, nicknames, and even the names of their pets hahaha I'm using the same trick with my mum now 😂 so yeah good luck with your studies!

Hey there! Fellow Army and New subscriber here just wanted to say that I really enjoy your reactions and thank you for being so kind and respectful to BTS we really appreciate it. Your doing great! Can’t wait for more! Looking forward to watching this and supporting you on your journey. Welcome to the BTS Army! Much love from Scotland 💜🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Also ps- your last name comes first in Korea, there are three with the last name Kim, they write it first but say it second like Park is Jimins last name so his name is actually Jimin Park, it’s just written the opposite, Same goes for the rest of them if that makes sense 💜
