I low key want to get into dota. I just played a few games in 2013, and I'm wondering how supports work. When you're two dudes on a lane, who gets the farm?

Hey, There are 5 positions sharing the farm in this game POS 1 the most resources and is the safelaner usually smth safe or ranged like drow ranger faceless void or phantom assassin POS 2 is the mid laner, vast difference of playable heroes but usually one's that work great with ecp and farm POS3 is the offlanee usually a tank with engage trying get as much resources as possible axe, bristleback legion commander POS 4 is the safelane supporter usually not farming a lit, getting the occasional jungle camp and ganking alot Pos5 is the saflenaners slave (or that's what safelaners think lol) buying most of the wards smoke or dust and not really taking anyfarm. Ofcourse if there is a Camp no one is contesting and nothing better is to Do then the take it. In lane, the Cores/carries (POS 1-3) take all the farm the can while the Supports take farm not reachable by the others. Hoped that cleared it up a bit :)

Correction, pos 4 supports offlane, roams around the map (during early game, even before you hit level 6), creates opportunity. He is like that hero who initiates and tries to get a opponent core (pos 1, 2 or 3) kill and its mostly fine if you die in the process. Sometimes even if you cant get a kill and you die its fine but not everytime. Out of both support (4 and 5) 4 can be greedy, he can take one creep from your lane out of the 4/5 creeps (only offlane, not safelane). Sometimes 4 goes to a safe place (empty lane or jungle) and complete his 1st item (blink or disable or something which can initiate or counter initiate the tean fight) Make sure this is after early game and during the early phase of mid game (before 15 mins). Once your first item is done, always look around the map, work with your pos 2 or 3 or 5 or multiple of them and try to kill enemies that are out of position. Or create space on the map (ward enemy jungle or rotation for intel, remember, vision wins game). But do not farm after your first item (first item is not boot, it'll be above 2k gold item which mostly is active (cast item)) Dont give up, you'll take atleast 100 games to understand 80% of heroes and item. Ask questions, always happy to help new folks into this gut wrenching game (fun if you are winning) Happy doto-ing sir/maam

diffusal has been part of the old build, skadi is the new thing for windranger in recent patches

yea basher would be good idea. its a situational item. as ancient player i do basher sometimes on WR "DEPENDING ON THE ENEMY " ancient ranks or higher doesnt laugh when you buy those item only legends below.. just remember what notail said "everything can work" :)

Blink, Treads, Aghs, BKB, MKB is very typical. The only real change here is Diffusal. On WR average, Disperser has higher win rate than Glepnir over the past month.
