Ammonia spike doesn't happen so quick. Moreover ammonia spike happens if fish is not starved 10-15 hrs before packing as the fish produces poop inside the bag during travel. Now coming to shifting the fish into quarantine tank. Major issue that needs to be addressed is pH shock. When ever you transfer the fish from old water to new water....you have to check whether the temperature and pH is same. If it's not.....remove some water from bag and add new water (water from the quarantine tank). Do so little by little. This will acclimatize the fish to the new pH of the quarantine tank. Then you add the fish.....there won't be any pH shock.

Not pure Japanese Nishikigoi( Amur Carp Breed).. they look beautiful ❤️. I think these are Indian bred or Asian bred koi.

Is it a temporary setup ? Koi's generally get a lot bigger and tanks cannot accommodate them.
