New Balance has never called these the "Protection Pack" that's a name that someone made up. They're called the 2002R Deconstruct

Yes they have.

The “general release” version of the 1906 is 1906R - for running like you said. But for the Refined Future Pack version of the 1906 (featured in this video), it is 1906D for distressed. Gotta love the D! PAWS!

New Balance are pure aesthetic! They just look and feel quality especially when I compare to my Nike, Adidas and Yeezys. Loving the videos

Looking to buy these or a different pair of 2002r. Only problem is that photos of the lunars are inconsistent. Would you say that they are a cream/off white color all around? Or are they predominantly grey

The 2002R LNY are so amazing for the quality. I hope New Balance officially puts the real name of these as the Refined Future pack.

I actually like the look of the 1906 more than the protection pack, the colors flow better imo, I'll still probably get both though lol, great video.

I have both and absolutely love, both! Grey 1906 and pink & purple 2002! Get alot of compliments on both

1906 midsole uses Acteva Lite, while the 2002 uses Abzorb for its midsole. Therefore, their midsoles are not the same. Some say Acteva Lite is firmer than Abzorb. Many reviewers have been incorrect about the midsole material because New Balance website has been confusing.

Can’t decide on a pair. I really like both

The D is for distressed The 2002 protection packs are actually 2002RD, the 1906 protection packs are 1906D

1906 is a way more comfortable model in my opinion, picked up a pair last month and been wearing them non stop. Tried on the 2002r a few times and just didn’t feel right (even though its the same sole) compared to 990s.. but i love these LOL

Great that people other than DC locals are showing love for NB all of these decades later.

Just got my first pair of 2002r today, so comfy and stylish. They have rope laces though so I may look for flat laces. Still fire shoes.

I just picked up the 1906 turtle dove colorway. I really like the black sole with the cream colored upper with that thick suede.

The name of the pack is "Refined Future" whether it's the 2002r or the 1906 , the name "Protection Pack", was given to the shoe by a sneaker boutique,not the designer

The toe box comparison helped me decided to grab the 1906! I loved the rain clouds but I ended up selling because the toe box was too wide and cumbersome. I love that the 1906 toe box looks more narrow!

@@donpulaski I’m a size 9 in almost Everything but for some reason the size 9 was a lil big on me so I went with an 8.5 but that’s cause I have a wide short foot

Aren’t they called refined future pack and not protection pack?

I'm in my 40s and only ever worn nike's the invincible run 2 my last shoe thanks to your videos I picked up the more v4 and love it. I feel nike tech is good but the looks aren't there. NB has better colorways and love the looks of these and the 990s.

I love the 1906, the rubber at the back looks better, the yellow patch ruined the 2002 for me

I own 1906r cordura gold version. I actually prefer the 2002 with the protection pack because 1906 have a lot of details already you don't want to cover them

The side mesh panels on the 2002r helps with wide feet.

Comfort wise in what order would you say these are cushion wise. I love the Vomero 5s and they feel awesome. Which ones are better for NB tho 1906d or 2002rs?

I like them both but the edge and my preference goes to 2002R they just look better on foot and I have the same pair I love them.

That 1906 is not protection pack... I have both. Same colorways, love em both tbh. Still want the black colorway of the 1906 though. They restocked several times, but not for my size. =(

I really wanna like these way more than I do. Unlike the 2002r the regular 1906s look better than these IMHO.

Having been into New Balance for about a year now have a bunch of pairs. Tried 2002r's on today for the first time and I have to say the comfort and fit is up there with the best that NB has to offer. In fact for me personally I think the 2002r is the comfiest fitting shoe from New Balance.

the cushion is not something to write home about. its very hard and it cause my feet to hurt due to my underlying plantar fasciitis.

Why do they look dorky to you? I think it's the blend of natural looking materials like suede on a retro runner that attracts people. Compared to when they almost exclusively used synthetics like plastics and mesh.
