It’s time for a hot hatch showdown!
We’ve got Mat in the all-new Audi S3, and he’s facing off against its key rivals to see just how different it is from the previous generation!
So let’s see how they all compare. Starting with the Audi, it’s powered by a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo that can produce 333hp and 420Nm of torque. It’s equipped with all-wheel drive, and as new it costs just over £44,000. It’s also the heaviest car here, weighing in at 1,610kg.
Alongside it is the VW Golf R. It’s also powered by a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo, but in this instance it produces 320hp and 420Nm. It’s one of the lightest cars here, at 1,525kg, and it’s also the cheapest, coming in at around £43,000.
Next up we have the BMW M135i. Once again it’s powered by a 2-litre 4 cylinder, and this produces 306hp and 450Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels, and the car tips the scales at 1,525kg - just like the Golf. However, it’s slightly more expensive, costing around £44,000.
Then finally we have the AMG A35. It’s powered by a (you guessed it…) 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo, and it puts down 306hp and 400Nm. It weighs in at 1,570kg, and it’s the most expensive car in this line-up, costing around £46,000.
So will it be an easy win for the S3? Or could another car snatch it? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!

Still gets destroyed by the RS3, I see no point in the Golf R at all. Get a GTI Clubsport if you want a Golf, get an RS3 if you want a proper fast hot hatch.

I had an A35 and now have an S3. The S3 is the most boring car ever, the A35 may be slower but it feels quicker when you’re actually driving it and is the more fun car in every way!

I have an RS3 8Y, recently had an A35 try it and was very surprised how gutless it was. I absolutely destroyed it and he was trying. I do agree on the S3, but it's an S,not an RS. Just try the RS3, fantastic car and way better than the AMG A45s I had before it.

@@mauricetoussaint7283 I test drove the RS3 before I got the S3 and naively thought it would be similar in feel just a bit slower, which is exactly how I found the A35/A45s to be. The RS3 was an amazing car, the S3 hasn’t put me off Audi’s, it’s just RS or nothing 😂.

I really loved every video that Sam started appearing regularly because he's cool and funny, but now i can't wait for the whole trio Sam, Nick and Rory. They are like the Three Musketeers and funny as hell. Matt i know they are regular but i would love if they are regular for every video, appear as much as they can, possibly in every video, because they are truly a gem for this channel. Just put the camera 50m behind the brake line so you can check who and when brakes first with a brake light. :)

And to think the Aston Martin db7 straight six supercharged variant had 330 hp or near about when it came out and now we’ve got little hatch backs that have more hp and are faster from factory crazy ain’t it lol

@g6kid1 tbh mate it's car lottery. The a35 in video ain't right , I have a a35 saloon standard and dynoed at 345-350 but then some are 301 306. 320. And have turbo overspool. / boost. But yes vw are known for bs figures. Anyways a35s remapped to 380 :) Also no wing causing drag

A simple electronic tune on that Golf R would make it very rapid, and the brakes are already up to the task. I'd not bother with the others.
