NEW Audi RS4 Avant 2018 - First Drive

The new 2018 Audi RS4 Avant is here! I head to southern Spain to test drive the new RS4 and find out what it's like to drive on some awesome mountain roads. I only had a few hours with the new RS4 so i opted for more of a review style video to give you a flavour of the car - hopefully we can spend more time with the 2018 RS4 next year and take it on an adventurous road trip!
Here is a little more info on the new Audi RS4 from the press release:
From 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 4.1 seconds, RS sport suspension and Audi drive select as standard
The V6 biturbo develops 331 kW (450 hp) in the new Audi RS 4 Avant. Its peak torque of 600 Nm (442.5 lb-ft) - 170 Nm (125.4 lb-ft) more than the previous model - is available across a broad engine speed range from 1,900 to 5,000 rpm. It is key to how the Audi RS 4 is able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 4.1 seconds. The top speed is 250 km/h (155.3 mph). With the optional RS dynamic package, the top speed increases to 280 km/h (174.0 mph).
The power of the 2.9 TFSI biturbo is supplied to the permanent all-wheel drive via a sportily configured eight-speed tiptronic with optimized gear changing. Audi also offers an optional rear sport differential. Average fuel consumption is 8.8 liters per 100 kilometers (26.7 US mpg) (199 grams of CO2 per kilometer [320.3 g/mi]). That is an efficiency gain of 17 percent over the previous model. The new Audi RS 4 Avant weighs 1,790 kilograms (3,946.3 lb) 80 kilograms (176.4 lb) less than previously.
The standard-fit RS sport suspension sets the Audi RS 4 Avant another seven millimeters (0.3 in) lower than the S4 basic model with sport suspension. By way of equipment options, there are RS sport suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC), ceramic brakes and RS-specific dynamic steering. Drivers can define their own individual personal driving experience using the standard dynamic handling system Audi drive select.

For over 2 decades i have followed top gear,remembering Clarkson review on the red Rs 4 way back then. Like the new Rs. James you are literally light years ahead. Bravo. ..
That green is amazing I love how when the sun highlights the curves it goes from a that darkish green to almost an emerald green (or something close to that)

AUDI BRING THE RS AVANTS TO AMERICA. RS3 and RS4 Avants are two of my favorite cars and I’d pick one up in an instant if they were available.
Killed it as always, I'm not normally a fan of car reviews, I often find them too lengthy but your reviews always have me hooked.

Martin Buchanan That alone is not enough. You also need education, motivation and diligence. Success is often a multigenerational thing. Maybe we won't achieve such life standart, but we should at least try our hardest so our children have a better future than ourselves.

For a road car that extra torque is perfect , makes it more drivable and not changing gear all the time. Again James smashing the content out of the park

Your videos are amazing they are so well edited I love watching them and this rs4 in that green looks so good ! I would never have thought of having a green car but this looks brilliant.

Excellent video as usual with all the small details and snapshots that makes it great. Funny thing I am driving the same B8 generation Audi A4 Avant in a more humble 2.0 TDI version and I have to admit that it's doing the job done quite brilliantly. Cruising on French highways and secondary roads is rather enjoyable than boring as it was the case previously with B7 generation. And that's coming from a die hard BMW enthousiast. Keep coming the awesome content James. Cheers from France!
