I do wonder if that is legal to do, like having a 'track use only' bypass of the filter. You could mod them when they are new because you won't need to do an MOT on them for the first couple of years. The likeliness of a big police check for emissions is minimal. After that you wouldn't get away with not having the filters since it wouldn't pass an emission test.

@Joel Schembri it's like we're completely ignoring the reason they did this in the first place. Don't get rid of the filter itself, just put an exhaust on it. I love cars too, but I'd love a planet to drive it on, don't you?

icebreakertech doesn’t matter for decades Diesel engines had nothing her in the states. Then in the 2000s they put cats on them. Most guys removed them. After that they put dpf systems and even then people remove it. Those systems robbed power and dpf ruined fuel economy also fucked us engines from washing the cylinders. This dpf is pretty much the same as this new gas particulate filter. Just without urea.

you cant beat AUDI for performance and daily drive cars like the AUDI R8

@@miklu26 Porsche doesn't really beat them in regards to blending performance, exotic feel, and userbility. The 911 is still extremely common and bland, as is its engine. The 911 is for people who want a supercar that doesn't feel like a supercar. The R8 is for people who want a 911 that feels like a Supercar.

Porsche is a very common car right now because almost everyone has it and driving like a maniac. Plus the fans are even more annoying when they're talking about the performance of it for example: "Porsche 911 Turbo can beat Nissan GTR for breakfast".

What a great car,I prefer the looks of the pre-facelift though !

GT3 cannot be used in a blizzard, nor all winter, nor in inclimate weather conditions. The GT3 has a slower 0-60. The GT3 has less HP. The GT3 doesn't have a howling NA V10 right behind you. GT3 being one of my all time favorite cars, still, cannot be compared to the Audi. Lions and Tigers are both large cats, but they are nowhere near the same, nor interchangeable.

Agree. For example, "Yes, when you press the accelerator, your peripheral vision is distorted by the visceral passing of hedgerows." :) I also like how the entire review is done while driving the car. One of my favorite car channels.

I clicked the Like button within 2 seconds! That was interesting how the tires stopped with the Michelin name at the top. James, did you plan that?

Very accurate description. I have the spider version which makes it a bit more fun to take out on sunny Sunday afternoons. But what other car would I jump into for my commute to the office on the Autobahn and hit 300 kph on a daily basis without breaking a sweat... and have so much fun with in the twisty roads of the Bavarian Alps...? Perfect for me in every respect (other than cargo space) but I fully understand that it might be a bit too ‘understated / sedate’ for some...

James, I agree with what you're saying about this car being in its own niche. This is what I love about what the VW Audi Group is doing with the synergy between the R8 and the Huracan. If you want a car that's more firey than the R8, you can have the same absolute peach of an engine in the Huracan (specifically in that new Huracan Evo... My Lord what another great car)

Funny, I thought the sound was one if this cars most attractive qualities. Not an out and out bark, but it has a sophistication, and refinement to the sound that is soul stirring...for me, at least. Great car, great vid! If I can only embezzle enough to....

V10 soundtrack is my favorite.

They've hinted at the R8 e-tron for so many years, but I don't see it coming. They don't believe in that idea, and I think they are right in not pushing it yet. They will have to first be successful with their smaller ev cars first. If they made an EV sportscar, I don't think they would make it an R8. Probably something different, like a car that sits between the R8 and the TT in terms of performance and size.

Would rather have a 2017 model. Cheaper and literally exactly the same. Add a $2,000 tune from VF and you get the Performante Powertrain. Easy.

Joel Cullum It’s 40 crank horsepower which equates to roughly 25 WHP. And 20 WTQ.

What's the difference between the Limited Edition Audi R8 Deccenium and the R8 Performance? I mean I get that the R8 GT and R8 LMX is like limited edition sports variants with special bodykits and so on but what about the Deccenium?

Sounds like you're describing some of the main characteristics of a 720S. Lightning fast, incredible handling, superb transmission and a lack of visceral appeal & excitement, primarily due to the exhaust note/tone & volume.

J Tee except the r8 would break less so it’s a more useable car

Actually it isn’t from an RS3. I think it might be similar/same as RS5 and up, but RS3’s wheel is quite different

I really hate Audi’s paddles behind the steering wheel. Why not give us large metal ones with a nice click and not some cheap plastic ones out of an Audi A4

Chris N all German automakers use small shift paddles. Looks at Porsche as well as bmw and audi

Spot on review! Audi engineers have no soul and passion and that’s why their sports cars are all about numbers and no true excitement when driving them.

Do an OPF delete, maybe change the gearbox software to make the shifts more aggressive in S, and program some pops and bangs and the car will be perfect
