New and improved log lifting arch that will load and unload your logs.

I modified a standard trailer mounted log loading arch with pinned brackets. The brackets will hold the log arch in multiple positions to allow it to pull logs onto the trailer. by repositioning the brackets the arch will also pull the logs off of the trailer. The positioning of the brackets will allow the arch to load and unload more than just logs. The winch is a tractor supply, 4500 pound winch with a 10,000 pound snatch block. This is the best set up for loading and unloading heavy logs.

Unloading was more interesting for me as it gave me a good idea for rubbish removal when dumping rubbish

Very cool. Maybe a couple of struts to control the fall?

Here’s a easy tweak. It looks great. So before you pull out a log. Put a rope with a big loop on it around the end by the tongue. Run it around the rail like a belay line. Then tell her that rope and it will help keep logs of loading straight no walking around. Operate winch and tether from up front. Love this idea. What grade of pipe was that arch built with?

Thank you. The arch on this one is 1 1/2" x 1/8" wall square . Mild steel. www.thegreensmachines.com/new-page I did do some general plans to help other people build the equipment.

Those bars are the answer to my problem. Just used my arch yesterday. That slamming down seems like an inevitable problem. My arch probably weighs 200 lbs.

Glad to help. The bars definitely work. They will put some torsion action on the top of arch. You will also need a snatch block to pull it all together. I got mine at Tractor supply. Good luck. Lonnie

When you unload, choke the log and fix it to another tree then Drive forward

That works ok. I also use the arch for moving logs and loading the mill. I just recently used it to move my backhoe.

Why not add a couple of feet at the rear to mitigate the upward load on the drawbar when unloading?

I think I may have known you years ago. Were you an avid bicyclist? And for some reason the Five Mile House keeps popping into my memory regarding you. Of course, only if you're the guy I knew years ago. Either way, super cool invention. It astounds me the innovations that come out of our county.

"It's what I had". The trailer has a 1500 pound axle. my truck has a four cylinder. there are so many logs that I can pick and choose. The best log for my set up is an 18 to 20 inch x 8 to 10 feet long.

hey jim here, I do a lot of this with a skid steer or a log arch. your new way is great. no need to bring a skid steer. but it helps when there are a lot of logs. a great idea can I copy your design? GOD BLESS
