I own Springfields. They are all beautiful when new. I don't think the manufacturing approach using MIM justifies cost. Some will vehemently argue this point. It is a modern take on a 100+ year old design. I have been watching the New Refresh of their 1911 model line. It looks like for this model. Black(Salt Bluing)/White(Stainless), Now Black Cerakote. (Sarcasm) I can hardly wait for FDE and Stainless. Oh... they offer that on other models. I may have missed, But the Square Trigger Guard is a unique approach on this model. I guess next year we might see an optics cut similar to the Echelon. Maybe we will get a one piece magwell that will be offered in a few more years. An alloy frame would be outstanding. For me the Emissary is a direct competitor to Dan Wesson TCP model however lacking in some features. I applaud the marketing of the refresh. Savvy, however limited. I guess that is to drive some business to their custom shop. I too appreciate the U notch and Bright front sight approach. My personal taste is the rear U notch to be blacked out. I own a lot of SA, BUT no doubt chock full of MIM, Colt for the same money has less MIM, forged/machined parts will be better still for the foreseeable future, manufacturers didn’t switch to MIM because it was superior,

Just bought the 5” 9mm… I have 3 Wilson’s and now that companies like Wilson have jacked prices to over $4,000, my Operator is a steal at less than $1,000. Springfield is catering to 1911 fans - not many US companies are and their products are outstanding!

You can lock the slide back, stick the "paper clip" through the guide rod, then slowly release the slide. Now the spring is captured and you can do the takedown and/or reassembly without needing to fight the spring. Maybe it isn't a big deal with the light spring in the 9mm gun but makes it a lot easier with the heavier spring in the .45ACP gun.

Takes down just like my Sig P938 Legion! Except for the guide rod.

That shred of daylight left at the top of the trigger reminds me of the DDH9 I’m sure it’s fine, it just don’t sit right with me optically

1. extra cost, 2. maybe they think 1911 buyers are traditional and don't want them. Springfield Prodigy does have optic cuts.

Question: Why does Springfield continue to use right hand only safeties on many of their 1911 models? I'm a lefty and I can't use guns like this in condition one.

Because most people are right-handed and many right-handed shooters don't want the drawbacks of an ambi-safety.

Really, the texturing? I never held a gun where the grips tore up my hand . Some are slightly more aggressive than others. Is it really a selling point?

Sure thing. But it’s not your hand you should be concerned with. Really rough textured guns tear up your skin when holstered against the body. That’s what killed Glock’s RTF2 finish on some grips in early Gen 4 guns.

$2,000 for the “New” TRP, it’s not even remotely close to a good value, Dan Wesson Specialist & a whole lot less MIM for less $$$$$, Colt Combat Unit Rail, same features & less MIM also for $1599 retail???? I think SA thought they could just revamp the TRP slap a set of $75 VZ grips and slather it with shightcoat oops Cerakote and add $500 bucks REALLY????

Springfield should pick a guide rod system and stick to it. They have the clingiest take downs. Pass…
