NEW 48V Port and not 12V? BLUETTI AC200L Powerstation Walkthrough

Looking at Bluetti's New AC200L Powerstation and a Sneak peak of the New Bluetti D40 DCDC Charger. Bluetti replaced the popular 12V 30A port of the Bluetti AC200MAX with a rather odd 48V 8A port and I found out why.

Thank you, that’s the main goal with my reviews! I feel the time frames, which I’m often given for collaborations are very short. Don’t allow for a long-term review where you can actually decide if something is good or not

Nice sincere review, Alex. It will be an interesting option to have that D40 interfacing with an existing conventional setup. It surely makes it an option to has a a backup battery or to extend existing systems. Thanks for the video.

I do you think the D40 whilst would not been perfect it’s actually quite an interesting way of interfacing power station with an existing electrical system. Online groups do love to argue about our traditional electrical systems are better than power stations. Which in one way, I very much agree, but traditional electrical systems are not portable and don’t have use cases outside of the van. Stated in the video different solutions work for different people.

A little trick I found when I tried to start a Chinese diesel with a Bluetti EB3A with 10A 12V was to connect a Maxwell Ultracapacitor I had knocking about, I could then get the heater to start and run. I recently bought a AC200Max to power my camper(s) I have a two so can swap it between them (saves money)and also use it for power tools for work, works great. I use a 1000 watt inverter to charge it whilst the engine was running. I don’t really like the touch screen and would prefer buttons like on the EB3A. I guess what I don’t like when using it to power a camper, if it stops working you lose everything!!! Fortunately on my recent trip to Europe it worked flawlessly, unlike my T4 where the cambelt snapped in the South of France 😭

Could you explain to me what you did with the capacitor? I Always like learning something new. Yeah, there were quite a few people on you who used the Ac100max as a main system and using an inverter whilst driving to charge. I could agree with the touchscreen. There are many occasions where I would prefer a touchscreen, but this isn’t one of them. And I understand from the redundancy point of view, I normally use The traditional electrical system in travel with a medium sized power station as a back up

Thanks, very good info and great edit. This unit was first pick for our van, but the 48V DC output is a deal breaker. D40 is going to be expensive, and for what it does, totally unnecessary. The newest AC240 has dedicated 12V 30A output, and is $300 cheaper right now. Trade off is solar limitations and weight, It's a beastly 33kg/72lb.

Personally, I would’ve preferred the 12V 30A output than the 48V 8A for the D40 as well. But I guess aiming it different markets. I do like the idea of running 12 hour applications directly from it

@@MispronouncedAdventures Ok so actually, D40 might be a game changer? For new van builds, just buy 2 LiTime 100A to run your high amp DC fusebox (fridge, heater) D40 will charge all your batteries from solar or starter dc/dc!

Can you plug 12v DC plugs into the D40? Like for DC fans or microwaves?

I have the smaller brother of this, the AC180P. When connected to solar and the sun hides behind a cloud, it has a rally annoying click as something disconnects inside, does the AC200L have this feature ? Love the new screen, miss the light (but as it's not really portable I can understand it's removal)

  • @MispronouncedAdventures

I haven’t noticed the click on this Model. But many power station models ( not all ) do this. It’s an internal relay. which usually flicks between higher amp 12 V DC charging or higher voltage but low amp solar charging as often the solar port is used for direct 12 V or solar charging. But I have found that in some occasions in different light conditions, you can get exactly on that point where it switches

The D40 has now been released here in Europe. 219€ Mine just arrived, I'm really disapointed with it. I was told it would give me 12v 30amp like the AC200Max. Yes you can run it as a load supply or as a house battery charger. BUT It only gives 12v 20Amp. not the 30Amp as I was told by Bluetti before I bought it. So for me it's usless, and to make it worse the costs of 219€ seems exorbitant for what you are getting So I have no idea what the 48v output replacement can be used for, especially as it seems the only thing you can plug into it is the D40 :(

This power station makes no sense and I can't understand why it was make. It was meant to update the AC200 Max. But taking away the 2 wireless charging on top, plus the 12v 30 amp and this 48v input is useless has from today they still haven't come out with a plug for it. But now the new AC240 it out. This is the real update to the 200 Max. Just not sure why it's IP65. I don't know many people that would leave it outside in the rain without anything plugged into it? And they have put back the 12v 30 amp. This is great for van lifers as we can use this to power all our 12v. And it can still be charged via car EV stations to which is a plus.

I agree to be fair and I kind of say that in the video that the AC200 max is considered was better for the use case I would want it for with the high amp 12v port. The AC200L in other areas was superior. I think it went in a different direction and for what I would want it for. don’t see much use of the 48 V.

Hm... That Electric bicycle you used last year... Doesn't that have a 48V motor? Place the Powerstation in a bicycle trailer and hook it up to the bike with a cable... No need to waste power by charging the bike battery from the power station you had on the pannier. ;-)

Very much already thought of this! unfortunately the 48v port has a communications pin. So it needs to communicate with the bluetti device that it connects to too do anything. Maybe I should see if I can convince a company to send me a 48V server rack battery 😁
