Interesting that they seem to be going the same way with Chaos that they did in Age of Sigmar. In that new edition the Horned Rat has just ascended to be one of the Chaos gods along side the big 4. Maybe Vashtorr is due a similar fate?

Vashtor being the fifth chaos god mirrors what is happening in AoS in the new edition, with the Great Horned Rat becoming a main chaos god, at the level of the other four

Well in AoS, the Horned Rat is officially the 5th Chaos god so they have added a gob before. If they do, though, they'll have to change to name of the model to avatar of Vashtor or something because having a chaos god walking round would be too op. I think the lock might be for the black library, Ahriman was meant to be looking for a way inside so that he could potentially Ascend to godhood with the knowledge. And if Vashtor kills loads of Eldar, Fulgrim might get involved because Slaanesh won't want to share eldar souls with another god.

2 ways of seeing how they can do the Tyranids & the 4th war. 1) Its story will continue near the end of this edition with a new Imperial Primarch taking the charge there. Guilliman will be focusing on the Nexus, and the Lion will focus on the Gauntlet. Ya I don't see Lion El'Johnson going on a revenge charge. Yes HH Lion would but 40K one is more calmer he would look and say 'last time we went chasing him Vash'tor got what he wanted we're not falling for that again'. Instead he will focus more on Nihilus, his Protectorate, and the Gauntlet. Him leading many Unforgiven alongside Dante and the Sanguinary Brotherhood basically unleashing 2 Legions on Vigilus. Back to the Nids 2) The video Yesterday commented that the Nexus can be reversed energy I believe and Magnus might use that to retry his Psychic Awakening story, Ritual of the Damned. Perhaps he succeeds in that that sending out a Psychic wave getting that invasion fleet's attention. Also that claw from the rumour engine maybe that will be the Thousand Sons Automana. There is also a mechanical leg.

The imperium learning about vashtor's plan will be the main point around agent of the imperium release, with grey knigths.

Hopefully Vashtorr gets ripped a new one. Necron Supremacy!

Then the galaxy starts to tilt from the weight of all the characters being in one place at the same time, crashing entire solar systems into four more Tyranid hive fleets, who start fighting each other because reasons. I suspect the two things are connected. The tyranic war and the pariah nexus. Remember that everyone is sorta freaking out about the tyranids and they do communicate through the warp telepathically right? The pariah nexus might be the only bastion of even remote safety when the true tyranid swarm arrives.

We left the nids with an open path to the segmentum solar .... The periah nexus is a small place in the other side of the Galaxy ..the nids cast a shadow in the warp and dont allow communication threw it ..... Too many open storylines

Actually, the nids are still the main threat for the Silent King in the new codex if you read the two pages carefully - the ones with the three headed Necron flesh face.

God could you imagine it, imperium, necrons and even the thousand sons joining forces to stop vashtor. Fulgrim will probably watch the upcoming battle while getting off on it, then to say hello at the end. I do think this will be the meeting of guilliman and the lion. I do think it will end in a imperial victory as they really do need one. Chaos ripped the galaxy a new one. Tyranids are knocking at the door. Even though I am a iron warrior player, the imperium really needs a win. Maybe the fallout if the imperium and necrons win might shrink the great rift and make things a tad safer.

Hmmm, doomsday necron tech, fulgrim, and techno apotheosis. Guessing we should expect to meet up on Medusa.

Wild shot in the dark: The Lock is the Celestial Orrery. Vashtorr needs to deconstruct Wyrmwood with the Orrery to get whatever he's looking for. Necrons realise what's going to happen and all show up to defend.

I know that Cawl and the admech are basically tasty snacks and useful ammunition to vashtor, but I still wanna see the mars boys putting the boot to him. Though I do appreciate their efforts to use the deadliest, most warcrimey weapons possible throughout the pariah nexus

With this sort of structure theyve been doing with advancing the plot (introduce a new thread but leave it dangling and resolve the climax of a previous thread each edition) i think this is a decent way to be advancing the plot. Keeps us the players knowing that, no matter who wins any one confrontation, there is always the ever present outside context issue and other players on the board, so even if someone wins a particular fight that might cause them to loose the next. And while the in universe characters wont see that coming, we might. So calling it now as my prediction: next edition's big starting fight will either relate to the Drukari (maybe Wyrmwood has caused a conjuction?) Vs imperium vs chaos OR the Tau will see some major action (tau expansion sphere slamming into the boarders of Ultramar and making the ongoing plague war into a 3 way brawl), but the climax event will return to the 4th tyranic war. Its been shown on some maps and mentioned that Perturabo and the iron warriors are active near the tyranid line of advance, so my bet for THAT is the return of demon Perturabo (possibly aligned with vashtorr? Possibly not) and an iron warriors range refresh, countered by a return of either Vulkan or Dorn, likely met initially not by their sons but by the iron hands because Medusa is directly in the conflict zone, similar to how Lion first linked up with the Blood Angels, and the tyranids will possibly get some sort of primarch equivalent (maybe a mega swarmlord? A 'hivelord', perhaps, or the Norn Queen itself taking to the field?). As for which loyalist primarch returns next in the current story, my money is on The Kahn riding out of the webway on some kind of machine he's cobbled together out of stolen Drukari tech with a small army of various astartes and humans he's rescued from the drukari in the pandemonium caused by wyrmwood's movement, possibly going for a mix of mongolian/leather biker gang/pirate theming, and even the emporer being caught off guard by the Kahn's return because hes been beyond his sight in the webway. Bonus points if he's converted a drukari raider into a spiky jetbike. From here, i think the pattern for loyalists will go codex compliant-non codex-codex compliant-non codex etc, with dorn counting as non codex compliant because i think when he returns he'll do so in an aspect more similar to the black templars than imperial fists. For chaos, my bet is that theyll try to make the non god aligned chaos primarchs particularly spicy to build hype, either by giving them cool feats of power or skill or doing something weird and freaky with their model. And you can bet that the dead primarchs will get SOME sort of return, likely as a ghost or the like manisfesting to walk the mortal plane once more in their sons' hour of greatest need, and the dead chaos ones (not horrus, probably) reaching out from beyond the grave to affect things again

@LordCrate-du8zm i doubt theyd do that, but i suspect his THEMEING and style of play will be more black templar like-meant to push right up into the enemy's face with a sword rather than hanging back with a static gunline. Weve seen this sort of shift into a more agressive person in the heresy and i suspect it will continue into his return, and maybe getting boarderline heretical and laying bare the thin and grey line between the extremist worshipers of the emporer and chaos followers. Blood for the emporer, skulls for the golden throne. Not quite Khornate but not to far away from it

Also having Vashtorr ascend could open up for Dark Mechanicum or stand alone Iron Warriors codex in 11th, I mean GW has done more insane things before.

​@@LordCrate-du8zm Vashtorr's powers allows him to unmake everything crafted from basic tools of iron to the highest technology. The Silent King is made by technology, also Blackstone or noctolith both have the attributes to repel or enhance the warp. Again the pylons are technology, so say Vashtorr revert the pylons to boost daemons instead then he just unmakes the Silent Kings entire body. Of course it won't come to that, but Vashtorr's only natural enemies are other daemons like Be'lakor gave him a good thrashing in Arks of Omen and Tyranids, every other faction uses technology which Vashtorr can use against them. But then again characters in 40k are always just as powerful or weak as the authors want the story to dictate, there is hardly much consistency so who knows whom GW wants to win the battle in the end.

Vashtorr seems to be the most important character in the lore since he dropped. I doubt he'll ever ascend to godhood, and more likely they'll just keep edging him forever. I just wonder what the long term plan is for him in the range. I feel like he'd fit Dark Mechanicum better than CSM, but I fear DM won't happen as Adeptus Mechanicus aren't the most popular army any. Perhaps a standalone unit or two of Dark Mechanicus would be a great way to expand the CSM book to have them as a supporting force like the damned are.

Wouldn't be surprised if Magnus sends the autonoma on purpose to strengthen Vashtorr adding them to the Dark Admech line. Why because Tzeentch is the lord of schemes and who better to shadow such things but the favored son Magnus! For if Vashtorr succeeds all of Chaos will be bolstered.

That's all that Vashtorr is: cold and calculating logic. He's not a daemon of Chaos, he's something different entirely.

Then it'll never happen, at most he'll come close and then some incredible sacrifice of the IoM will prevent it from happening, bla bla bla. We've had this song and dance before. Narratively the IoM is so much against the ropes that if it loses just one more time it'll cease to exist. That means that any of the other factions can never win, they can also never lose since that would make them look bad and their sales would drop as a consequence, and so, we get this situation where everything is at an enteral draw and the antagonist factions just ends up looking incredibly incompetent since they despite having all the advantages never can leverage them into a win. Vigilus was supposed to change everything - nothing of substance happened. Arcs of Omens was supposed to change everything - nothing of substance happened. Hive Fleet whatever its name was was supposed to change everything - nothing of substance happened. What makes you think this will be any different? Vashtorr like Abaddon will be stuck in eternal limbo when it comes to getting closer to their goals as both require a major victory and any major victories would end the IoM due to GW's colossal blunder with the Cicatric Maledictum. Vigilus even ended with Abaddon retreating and saying that he would return with his Planet Killer and finish the job. For what reason did he never start with that? He has no need for Vigilus as a resource and with Vigilus gone so would the IoM. All he needs to do would be to arrange the entire chaos fleet around the Planet Killer, go full speed towards Vigilus, and blow it up. Then his eternal war would be over. As opposed to what the galaxy brain writers of GW think that raising the stakes makes the fiction even more interesting, the opposite is true, when the stakes become impossibly high then the protagonists are sure to win unless GW wants to pull an End Times on the 40K setting. Last I checked 40k sold too well for that and we're far away from a new edition.

Hopefully getting the end of the 4th tyrannic war in 11th edition? I’d quite like to see gw show the start of the 4th tyrannic war to be honest they haven’t done anything with it.

I can't see Vashtorr becoming a god, since the other gods don't have models, outside of their greater daemons. Maybe he just becomes a primarch-level / greater daemon character for Chaos.

What could happen (but i hope it won't) is that Vashtor will be almost defeated by the Silent King because he can't take control of the necrons and at the last minute Imotekh or the Primarchs will interfere giving the chaos demigod the chance to obtain what he wants and get of out there. This seems to me like a possible outcome since GW treats Chaos like "evil imperium" and all the other races are just fodder for the two main factions.

I don't think gw wants to really add a 5th chaos god, it's too iconic to have only four of them, what i think will happen is Vashtor will get really close but the combined enemies will stop him, he will not ascend but will have gathered so much power to be considered almost a faction on his own and a minor chaos god, becoming the true lord of the forge of souls. So he will be stronger and playeble, nothing will change too much and guilliman and lion see each other. Then will be the time of Fulgrim but if hos perfect clone won't have a central role i will be so disappointed

I think the Imperium would be better off if Vashtorr ascended, the other chaos gods would be so distracted by a new player in the great game that they won’t be as focussed on continuing the long war.

If fulgrim returns doesn't that mean loyalist primarch would return? And in Horus heresy fulgrim and Jagathai have beef with each other it would mean jagagthai khan will return in this story ?

The best of situations. Yes the silent king would win. However this is not the best of circumstances for the silent king. And the workers or the imperium as well as the masses of mechanical bodies sent at Vashtor will do nothing but detour him. As in he will have to go on a detour that often leads him to his goal quicker than originally set out to do. Meaning the civil war the silent king is in is a prime opportunity for Vashtor to gain his sought out prize. Of a nekron god. The black shard Vashtor picked up. Was a raw manifestation of a ctan shard. Using it. Is how he got the nekrons into the current civil war. Destroying it. Is how he claimed the nekrons full version of the shard they were using to charge their feeble Nexus. Also Vashtor doesn't plan on becoming a chaos god. Merely the opposite. Vashtor plans to become one of the imperium's God's or goddesses. Vashtor just understands that Vashtor has to work quick in this time of crisis and keep the chaos gods guessing long enough. So don't be surprised if the 4 chaos gods all have something to say when Vashtor does reach out and grab the full version of the shard. And the realm of chaos begins to bleed into real space from the Nexus. As the silent king fails. But where the silent king failed. The silent king archives another of his long since sought for goals. One he has nearly given up on. The silent king recognizing the unified movement of signals and actions processing at a speed that would only ever be possible. If the entirety of the nekron race was united in a singular goal. To take Vashtor down.
