I get your point regarding the 650 range category. There's only so many r7, cbr650, rs660 and ninja 650 comparisons you can make before comparing with others. Comparing a Harley Sportster to an r1 next week. I wonder which one wins on bhp.

Bro RS 660 can't be said as a commuter as it also has proper sports position. Here category is almost same but segment is different where the 600 cc's sports bike have 4 cylinders and 650 cc's(except the CBR 650R and F) have 2 cylinders (600s have more performance bcoz of more cylinders) so yea here the category is same but the segment is different

@@wolverine1854 the hell you talking about? All tripples or twins except the cbr650. All with raised clipons resulting in a less sporty riding position. All higher torque and lower hp making it more suitable for commuting and much better mileage. Hell, the r7 is just a fully faired, more aggressive mt7. Sports commuters is exactly what they are. Supersports are nearly dead. Long live the sport commuter.

This new Kawi ZX-6R shouldn’t be compared with an RS 660, I think it compares better to a Ducati V2. The Ducati is only 20 or so hp more, but you’re paying $7,000 more for it. For that you can get the ZX and mod it for higher hp, and still have money left over. Plus, the cost of ownership is going to be much less. And, it’ll be easier to find neutral.

That 955cc twin will pull WAY harder than a 636cc inline4. It takes the zx6 a 16k rpm redline to get you 124 hp while the panigale v2 gives 155 hp within 12k rpm with more of THAT power available at lower revs. These inline 4 aren't even wake until 9k rpm. Chaseontwowheels did 40-80 mph in 2.14 seconds on a stock v2. It took 3 seconds on the 2021 Yamaha r1 which is a 1000cc cross plane inline 4 that makes over 200 HP and can do 80 in first gear. He still did a faster 40-80 pull on a panigale v2. The r1 was still in low revs in first at 40 mph and inline 4s don't pull strong from low revs. But that wouldn't have been a big deal in the first place on the v2. Bigger cylinders and bore size.

@@brianbelcher7279yea I believe that is because twin or two cylinders have more torque and power in the lower RPMs where the 4 cylinders don’t hit their power band until much higher in the rev range like you stated. Twins are probably more balanced power wise which makes for much better riding on roads, highways and stuff. I’d love to ride a Ducati 2 cylinder bike

I bought a ZX6R and love it. I don't know why anyone would want a 2 cylinder.

Those twins sound nice dude, I love em, the 660 is for the everyday sports, I bet a triumph street triple does that just as good with more power though. But I love twins, and fairings. Wish Honda would revive their v twin and v4 bikes. In my opinion, I wouldn't like a 4 pot for middleweight, they're heavier.. The daytona and rs660 weighs 184 kilos.. The new 636 weighs 194..

@@rns6889yea I like twin cylinders too, triples and 4 cylinders as well. But the 4 cylinders always sound better and more revvy and racy. The sound of the 660 here sounds like my 300cc. The ZX6R definitely sounds better performance wise. I wish Aprilia would’ve done something different with their middleweight though. Idk if their twin cylinder with only 100hp cuts it with the other manufacturer middleweight super sports have 130+ horsepower 600cc machines. I hear the 660 is super light though so that’s a plus. I’d love to ride one. That’s a hefty price tag for me though for a twin cylinder middleweight. The ZX4R or the CFMoto 450SR are two bikes I’m looking at right now. All the power you need for street riding. Ride safe man 👌

@@evelia1156 well yeah the only problem with the aprilia 660 is the price, honestly I would not ever get a 600 cc supersport unless I already have something that's more comfortable. But the class of mt09, street triple, Duke 990 is perfect for fast boys who have more sense than ride around on a race replica. Not as fast, but close, with much more torque and usable power, handle bar leverage and ease of use. Comfort is important too man. Considering mt09 Duke 890 and street triple r are close in price the rs660 doesn't make sense yeah.

Great video, I consider all those details PLUS the swingarm geometry. 660 has a direct mount and ZX has multi-linkage. That is the biggest deal to me. RSV4 has the multi-linkage, losing half the engine and a simpler suspension just seems like too much a sacrifice.

looking at some dyno power curves for these 2 bikes overlayed on top of each other (stock-ish to keep it simple) they have an almost identical horsepower curve at the same revs, except the rs 660 stops going up at 11k RPM while the zx6r keeps on zooming up to 13k rpm, about 89 and 113 hp respectively. The zx6r is also 30 lbs heavier for what that's worth. That's actually pretty crazy that a twin cylinder is on par with the 4 cylinder zx6r of similar displacement. On the road they're probably very close in speed. I'd guess a skilled track rider would make use of the higher rpm horsepower of a zx6r though. I like them both, but I think I'm gonna go with a tamer zx4rr to wring out on the street

There is not Vs between this two. The 660 must to be compared with the ninja 650. The zx6r is in total different segment, and its the best in its segment.

I wouldn't say the RS660 overthrew the 600 class "reign"..... The ninja is a supersport the Aprilia is a Sport tourer that doesn't have a chance against the Kawi unless you're after comfort

On track, yeah, absolutely. The 6r will walk on the 660 on the top end. On everyday streets, absolutely not. 660 handles aton better. Nit to mention you don't have to wring its fucken neck to get any kind of actual power out of it. The 660 makes roughly 80% of it's torque by 3500rpm.. the 6r is roughly twice that rpm.. yeah, the first year of the 660s had issues.. thats to be expected with any brand new model of anything. I got over 25k miles on my 21' 660, and the biggest issue I've had has been a leaky stator cover gasket. And I sure as hell haven't been nice to it, considering my 2 year warrenty is still is active... I mean.. who makes a 'track bike' that doesn't have braided lines from the factory? 😂

So much copium. The 636 is the better bike for the street, and the track. "I already have problems after 25k miles, but it's still a better street bike because it produces more torque at a lower RPM" That's definitely a good thing. An Italian bike running at high RPM won't last too long. @@cody-2536

RS660 80% Road / 20% Track ZX6R 20% Road / 80% Track as an ordinary driver you are significantly more agile and faster with RS660. Also on the racetrack. Aprilia is much easier to drive. The handling is simply much better due to the low weight and power is available earlier and more NM. ZX6R only has advantages from 130km/h and only on straight and top speed. Technically, Aprilia is much better and more suitable for everyday use. Nissin brakes on a track bike 🤣 and 198kg 🙈

@@no_name4080 not for me.... use my 2021 ... ZX6R 5% track 90% road 5% gravel road for 12,000 km already.... it's my daily driver .... got decent low down torque too, pulls cleanly from 30 km/h in 6th gear, while doing 250+ km/h daily

Drive? We ride motorcycles. Anyone who says they drive a motorcycle makes me wary of anything they say afterwards. "Much better due to low weight" - The ZX6R weighs 20 pounds more. You'll hardly notice that unless you're a professional rider with thousands of hours on each bike. "Power is available earlier" - True, but it also falls off earlier. The ZX6R is the better bike. The Aprillia is a good bike too, just not as good.

I feel like everyone gives far too much value on the actual engine power numbers. If you tune an rs660 you can make very similar power to a stock zx6, and at that point the Aprilia is likely the better bike. And if the ergonomics aren’t aggressive enough for you that’s what they make clip-ones and rear sets for (which if you were going to track or race the zx6 you were going to do anyways most likely)

I have bad news for your idea that rs660 can be tuned to significant power . It's engine is already maxed and squeezed out and doesn't have big potential for power gain (exhaust, larger stacks, ECU, filter) ads only 17-20hp and that for (3000+) and there reliability comes to sharp end

I think you havent looked at the power curves. The aprilia and zx6r have basically identical horsepower numbers up until around 11000 where the rs runs out of revs. The Aprilia is already very highly tuned (for top end, this is why it is a bit weak low down) You will never get an aprilia to be at the same level as the 6r performance wise unless you start doing internal changes. And even if you could, one simple flash on the 6r and you gain 8-10hp

no you can't, even with the tuning the rs660 doesn't go above 96 hp to the wheel. which is sad, if it was that easy with all the money i threw at it it would have 150hp XD

I understand it seems like it's not a fair comparison due to the class difference, but the purpose of this video is to inform those who are new to motorcycles and looking for a new bike, but don't really understand the difference between a pure supersport and a 650cc sportbike, due to some similarities between them, such as 600cc-ish displacement, same sportbike styling, and they are also in the same price range.

The RS660 sounds like hot garbage. I really am not a fan of these twins. They sound trash. Having friends who've owned Aprilias I'd never buy one. They are very unrealibale and have fun trying to get parts. Dealer support is atrocious. You could not pay me to own an Aprilia.

We can and should just throw them in the same pot, they're all sport bikes, but not fully supersport sporty, and 2 of them make 95hp and the other 3, ninja 650, r7 and sv650(which is naked but I'll include it too), make 75ish, big deal? The ninja is the only one that's less sporty than the rest since it has raised clip ons and in general it's made to be beginner friendly and cheap. And the only one left is the r7, exluding the naked sv650, that's just as sport as the rs660 but makes 20hp less and is completely raw with only abs. Also yeah, this guy's whole channel seems ai generated lol. I hate how many of these are popping up everywhere.

Because both are sportbikes in the same price range and the ZX-6R is the last of its kind, there aren't many options to compare. The Gsxr600 and R6 are discontinued (only the R6 race is available), the all-new CBR600rr isn't globally available and was last updated in 2021, the MV Agusta F3 and Panigale V2 displacements are way too big, and prices are too expensive to compare. This video might help people who don't know much about the differences between supersports and middleweight sportbikes. For non-enthusiasts, both are 600cc-ish fairing sportbikes that have similar prices. With a detailed comparison like this, it might give them some idea. Sorry if my content somehow bothers you; thanks for watching, tho
