The only companies complaining of driver shortages are those that can't keep drivers. Low pay, low pay, low pay.....

I totally agree. Theses companies that decide to keep wages low are able to afford pay packages that are easily over and above what they pay now. Too much is wasted on paying temporary employment and employment recruitment agencies hourly rates of £30-£45 per hour, that could easily be paid to entice permanent recruitment. If they can afford Agency fees then they can afford to put it in your Salary.

🇬🇧 As a retired truck driver, I wish I could have one here.

My Volvo VNL 670 was the best truck I ever drove. Comfortable, quiet and very well equipped. With 500 hp and 13 speed OD transmission it ate up the miles and delivered great fuel mileage. This was in 2008 so it was not quite as gee whiz on the inside, But I had a refrigerator and convection microwave with a flatscreen TV and a Tri-pac APU. Full fairings and dual stacks behind the cab. Ran 78 mph on cruise and more than that with the foot feed. And it REALLY pissed off Petercars and K-whoppers when you blew past them.

No other cab is as high-tech as Volvo's. Just look at its competitors. Their design languages are from 2010s, even 2000s in terms of styling. Volvo is just on another level.

yeah well, i agree.. but ... i'll just copy paste my comment from above. "quite interesting how "new 2023" truck for US has old european steering wheel from older volvo models (FH4) and shifter knob as well.. while european 2021 FH5 have already newer steering wheel and new shifter knob and they're much nicer, modern and clean looking. Oh and this cluster gauge gives me vibes of old FH3.... Would be interesting to see US truck with newest goodies what Volvo has to offer."

@@RadoslavMalina I had asked this question to myself a long time ago. Answer is simple; priorities. US market puts traditional needs in the first place. Spacious back-cabin, fridge, lockers, outlets, microwave, TV mount... etc. Nobody cares about fully digital instrument cluster, gear shifter, steering wheel gauges and other visual details. That's why the manufacturers do not seem to care about them. EU trucks are very limited in terms of space. Therefore everything needs to be very high-tech and ergonomically perfect. That's why we see a lot of digitized details. You need to make use of every centimeter you can find. This brings engineering at a high level. This is the answer I could find. Tradition versus ergonomics, in summary. Even in this scenario, US Volvo trucks are looking a lot more appealing than their counterparts.

You haven’t seen the new Kenworths.

I drive a 15 years old cabover volvo with 500 hp engine. Smooth drive, good comfort and solid quality. Volvo is a guarantee.

Greatest truck Ive driven. Never had a NEW Volvo in my 46 yr career, LOVE the I shift. Take them all out of the dash please. This would be a great Christmas gift Volvo PLEASE :D

Retired now, drove all brands, Volvo makes a good truck.

Same here buddy , my first truck was a brand new 1988 freightliner then a new T600 1994 kenworth followed by a 1998 w9 kenworth then 2000 379 peterbilt, and a 2002 western star, now my second volvo from 2008 and this pne 2015 ... I loved them both next to my western star .... I wish I was 10 years younger I would most definitely get my third volvo without hesitation

This Feels like Home

Definitely a little heavier than most other brands, but to me it’s worth every ounce! I put 1.3 million on mine before replacing it with a Peterbilt. Can’t wait to get back in a Volvo. They might not look as cool as a long nose Pete, but when you get there, you have a luxury condo with you!

I just picked up a 2004 with a D12 and 10 speed. She has 1.2 M miles but enough life in her to start me out. The fancy hoods are cool but Volvo is better in every other way.

My company has kenworths and international truck, my personal vehicle is a Volvo. People that prefer a rough kw or Peterbilt are the same rednecks who think a King ranch are slick rides lol. Tech and innovation are 15 years behind in domestic vehicles compared to what comes in these. They're all fiberglass these days lol. Sleepers hoods etc. I'd rather have the comfort and tech to make the life on the road more comfy than look "cool" lol money made spends the same way on days off.

This takes Van life to a whole new level.

Volvo’s in North America look amazing. I would have a Volvo over any Peterbuilt or Kenworth. The Volvo Transmission is the best any truck can have. It’s so good that Volvo will not supply it to any other truck manufacturer, other than Renault trucks which is owned by Volvo. The I-Shift is the only transmission in the world that is not manual transmission with an automatic switch as 97% of trucks have 3rd party transmissions converted from manual to automatic switches on the transmission when ordered. ZF transmissions who supply Iveco, M.A.N. DAF, Mercedes and even Scania.

Personally I'd have a 540bhp MAN,with the Scania Opticruise gearbox, just the best of all worlds, cheaper than the Swedes,well put together....I like the flat floor Renault, but I couldn't live with that dashboard, hated it since I was in the preproduction one a decade ago!

Volvo Truck have a lot of details plastic and When and when there is a strong wind it sways both the cabin and the trailer, regardless of whether the trailer is loaded or not. This is a broken geometry of air resistance. The cabin front part is incorrectly designed. engines break but, unfortunately, it only got worse Truck keeps the speed downhill badly when going downhill from 6% to 8% acceleration occurs. , Good Trucks were made until 2011, after that the appearance and the cabin are very comfortable, but the stability and descent from the mountain are terrible and Statistics show that in winter many Trucks mostly tip over Volvo 760 and Volvo 860 The most stable Truck Peterbill

Yeah, until one breaks down and it takes months to get the parts. Pete’s have the power; I’ve never driven anything more powerful than a Pete, and there isn’t a truck in NA that I haven’t driven.

A fantastic interior layout and design. It screams 2021 Volvo and the upgrades two years later are minimal at best. The biggest question is will all the new features stay together after ten thousand miles on the road or will the plastic begin falling apart as in the 2021?

Impressive! Almost better then my first own Flat. 🙈

This is enough for family tour purpose. Can use as a camper vehicle. ❤❤

Some people might not like how it looks. But that's an unarguable piece of engineering very well thought around drivers comfort and makin money. And at the end of the day those two factors are what a good truck is all about. European efficiency applied to american cab layout and wheelbase standards. Don't know if engines and trasmission are as top performers, efficient and reliable as euro Volvo trucks. If that is the case than it makes volvo a very good choice for us trucking too.

I met too many Volvo o/o with cracked windshield for months, idling the truck instead of getting his APU fixed… you can’t make money if your truck is de-rated and your in and out of the shop. Ain’t got the money to get your APU fixed, or replace that broken windshield. Your trucks in the shop too many weeks to make any money let alone make your truck payments.

@@makeitpay8241 - volvo o/o I met with his cracked windshield was charging the same rate as me for the same lane as we met at the same shipper/receiver. He wasn’t charging less than me, he was just spending way too much time at the dealership trying to get his truck fixed and way too often. His parts are not as readily available as my Freightliner. And he breakdown way too often with electrical problems.
