This is a Motormouth couple car review of the new and updated 2023 Kia Telluride 3-row mid-size SUV. What new for 2023? The Kia Telluride gets redesigned LED headlights, fog lights, grille, front bumper and wheels. In the rear, the signature taillight design remains but the LED layout has been revised and the bumper is more integrated. The interior gets a refresh as well with a larger standard 4.2” driver display, available dual 12.3” touchscreen and digital driver display, a larger wireless phone charger area, a new steering wheel design, power tailgate with an away close function and for the very first time in a Kia, an available full display digital rearview mirror. There are two new 2023 Kia Telluride trims, X-Line (which we are test driving) and X-Pro which offer a higher ground clearance of 10 mm, a tow mode, dark exterior accents including gloss black roof rails and front grille plus dark metallic trim. The X-Pro can tow 5500 pounds, has a 110V inverter in the cargo area and an exclusive 18” wheel design with all-terrain tires. The 2023 Kia Telluride X-Line model gets 20” wheels. There are two new interior colour options including terracotta brown for both models and a sage green for the Telluride X-Pro only. The new 2023 Kia Telluride has a 3.8L V6 engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 291 horsepower and 262 lb-feet of torque, standard AWD in Canada. FWD and AWD options in the US. This Kia has 8” of ground clearance but the new X-Line and X-Pro models have 8.4”. Standard features include, a 12.3” touchscreen with navigation, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless charger, 8-passenger seating, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, leatherette upholstery, a heated steering wheel, single sunroof and a power liftgate. The Telluride starts at $49,995 CAD, SX $54,995 CAD, SX Limited $58,995 CAD, X-Line $60,995 CAD and X-Pro $62,595 CAD. LX FWD $35,690 USD, LX AWD $36,690 USD, S FWD $37,590 USD, S AWD $39,590 USD, EX FWD $41,290 USD, EX AWD $43,290 USD, EX X-Line$45,485 USD, SX FWD $45,490 USD, SX AWD $47,490 USD, SX X-Line $48,885 USD, SX X-Pro $49,885 USD, SX Prestige $50,390 USD, SX Prestige X-Line $51,785 USD, SX Prestige X-Pro $52,785 USD.

Exactly....all these Kia/Hyundai reviews fail to mention the lease rates and lease residuals (% and $)......or the fact that Kia Canada has stopped allowing its dealers to submit orders....they get allocation and then go through their internal dealer wait list.... average 12 months (or more) wait for a new Telluride in Canada....

Its really hard to topple Telluride's domination in this category. The interior truly able to compete with the best of the premium makes like Audi and Mercedes. Its interested to see how the new Pilot takes, as the previous car was a disappointment, even for a Honda fans like me. Especially when Honda keeps updating its 3.5 litre V6 instead of going for a turbocharged 4-cylinder, which usually a letdown in refinement, in such a heavy vehicle. That's the reason why I am interested to see how the refreshed Highlander drives, even if the 2.4T works perfectly in Lexus application. Only hope if Kia and Hyundai want to give Telluride/Palisade a hybrid option on next generation, give it a V6 hybrid instead of an in-line 4 variant.

I don't see H/K use a full hybrid system for the V6 engines. I can see them using a T/C I-4 for the hybrid (hopefully a 2.0L). If not, I can definitely see them use a mild hybrid to the N/A 3.5L V6 engine similar to Genesis G90.

Plenty of bells and whistles in this car, mostly in the cabin, which is what most reviewers look at, but the engine is old school (in a bad way) prone to carbonization issues and under the car the finish it quite cheap and sloppy. As it turns out there is no such thing as a free meal and this car is built to impress but not to last imo. If you want to buy a car to keep it you’re better off with the Pilot or even better the Highlander.

Great SUV. Handsome, modern and still maintains traditional buttons and proper shift for transmission. If you drive a lot, put on lots of mileage and intend to keep a vehicle long term this is the one to get. A non hybrid or PHEV version when it comes, is great on fuel economy but what do you do when you are close to the expiry of battery warranty? Can the warranty be extended? What is the resale value close to the warranty expiry? So I think this gas engine perhaps is the best to buy before it is gone. Buy it and keep it as long as you like. I know you can extend the warranty of the gas engine.

It's nice that the Telluride has now received a pretty substantial refresh, though I feel like they didn't go far enough in features like the Palisade did. I personally think amber DRLs look cheap compared to white so it's a good change. Was probably worse for visibility when combined with the main headlights. I do think that more people preferred the amber DRLs though, so it might affect sales and demand based on that. Excited to see your thoughts on the Palisade. I think it has now beaten its sibling by improving its weaknesses, mainly looks and opulent features.

I don't think the amber was to help the driver see but to be seen. Humans tend to gravitate towards yellow and there is less likely to have colorblindness to yellow as other colors. That being said, I'm personally meh on the amber lights. I'm just more irritated by the 10,000 packages we have in the US. 3-4 I don't need 8 now that we've got the X-pro line up with this one. But we can also get that top trim for around 55k USD. I guess give and take.

My wife and I (very tall) were looking at 3 row SUVs recently and the VW Atlas really caught our eye for interior space. We're both very broad shouldered (can't fit side by side in most sedans) and we had almost as much space as we do in my Silverado. The reason for this was that the Atlas has a sort of curved B-piller which gives you an extra inch at the shoulder. With the Telluride (which she'd prefer due to the better warranty) I wonder if they have that same interior design.

We just had a 2021 Kia Sorento and just got too small for us so we were looking at this and the new 2023 palisade calligraphy and this telluride is beautiful and if you like this more and get this it’s a great option but I went with the palisade calligraphy because it’s just so nice outside and inside but specially the inside you just can’t compare the two. It had a few more things and the seats are all so comfy and the way it drives is also so comfortable. Just amazing and we love it. Like I said thoo if you like the telluride better I can see that. It’s got a whole different vibe so you will be happy too and the new pilot is just not it. Your better off buying an old one for what you get

Luckily I live in LA and there is a lot of dealers so kept looking but I did need to have the AWD and those are more limited here specially since weather here is good all the time they don’t send lots of AWD but was able to find a couple places who finally were more reasonable and eventually I used their offers to my advantage at other dealers and me and my family are super happy with it and love it and really everything about it. If you interested in it I truly recommend it even over the telluride unless you like the more sporty look but I take the palisade interior and exterior but specially the interior. Liked how they are getting away from the chrome exterior trim pieces on certain levels can't stand chrome. Wish they would tighten the interior gear shifter up it looks super dated being tall and skinny. Even the new Outlander has a much better looking shifter imo. Seats need to be ultra comfortable to compete these days I'm surprised they cheaped out in that department this go around. Was considering the PHEV Sorento but the interior colour options of navy blue (lol) and cream is a no go for me. At least give us an all black option right? I like the interior colour options for the Talluride better but I'm surprised they don't have a PHEV available yet.
