To answer the questions about condensation @justcitroen let me lose in their Ami Demonstrator again, today's forecast was for rain, and rain it did!
By the time I got my GoPro's set up I was soaked, and the floor of the car was wet too, it was also very steamed up ( probably because it took me about 30 mins to position and set up the cameras and my microphones, as one of my cameras refused to switch on till I took the battery out and rebooted it.
I have to say that I’m now hesitant to post the video as when I was editing it I noticed that the condensation looks a lot worse through the camera lenses than it did through my eyes, it was a strange day, heavy rain, lots of spray on the roads, but it was warm and bright too, the condensation which appears in the lower left and right corners of the windscreen was below my field of vision, driving was no problem but I would definitely recommend coating the outside with Rain X Rain Repellant and the inside with Rain X Anti Fog.
I just don't want to give the seemingly ever-increasing number of Ami haters an excuse to pipe up in the forums

Good video Barry - I'm a Brit expat living in France and we've had our little Ami for just over a year. Here 'sans permis' vehicles limited to 28mph are pretty common as they don't require a drivers licence. Living in a village we have to go on 50mph roads to go anywhere and I've never had a problem because other drivers are used to it, but I have to admit I think I'd be a bit more hesitant in the UK. And you're right Rainex is a god send in winter!!!!

Yet another great and honest video and car review. I'd love one of those wee cars, looks good inside and everything in reach, the condensation on the door windows would annoy me as in Scotland it rains almost daily but if, like you, putting rainex etc and an upgraded fan then would be a great car. Something different definitely 👍

What I like , Barrie, is your matter-of-fact approach to what I think is a revolutionary vehicle. Forget the complex Teslas and others. Here we have the traditional Citroën approach to using the available technology to produce something that is simply fit for purpose, suited to modern day reality. Think 2CV, think DS. I have had my Ami for three weeks, and love it more and more. I am interested in the accessories (e.g. apple carplay, sun visors) you have shown, and would like links to suppliers. Please continue with your entertaining and instructive Ami videos, and ignore whatever negative personal things some viewers choose to post.

I drove a Peugeot e-208 from Sept 2021 to May 2022. The harshest times were in winter when it rained 24/7 and mist was uncontrollable. A full charge would enable 180 miles in green mode, 170 in normal and 150 in sport. I tested rainex but it made the windscreen blurry (maybe I applied it wrong). Then I purchased a moisture absorbing bag from Amazon and it worked for a while. What worked was a cordless dehumidifier but the downside is that it's noisy and fills up with water fast. I made heated seats in the form of a heat mat powered by USB (from amazon) but it was sized to fit one bum cheek, connected to a portable power bank, it provided 30 degree heat which was enough to heat the whole body. This is what we have to make do driving electric cars whilst reducing range consumption. I put an order in for the Citroen Ami arriving in Jan 2023 and a deposit for the Microlino (although there's no set date when it's arriving in the UK). Oh and I love watching 'me and mon ami' ... I love that they show the possibilities of the little car whilst showing the beauty of their part of the world.

Great video as usual. I have to say that the fan wasn’t as loud as you thought it was or when you opened the windows. I usually have to wipe my Duster Windscreen etc… anyway so Ami will be no different. I’m guessing people who have all the mod cons in their vehicle will find it more difficult to adjust but I will not. I think most people who have a car without air conditioning will suffer the same problem as in the Ami, when there's water in the car, air conditioning doesn't just cool you down but it takes moisture out of the air inside the car, which is why you see a pool of water underneath some cars on a hot day, its getting people to accept this and allow for it, for some reason a lot of people want everything but life and cars are a compromise

Surging is caused by the Speed Limiter kicking in, it will also do it if you are going downhill when you reach 28mph even with the Throttle Pedal partially depressed. Nice to see someone doing a wet weather test video, keep up the good work.

@@BarrieCrampton You are correct, Regen will take place if you stop accelerating with the Throttle, however, if you continue to accelerate using the Throttle and you reach 28mph even before the pedal reaches full travel as you described in your video, the Speed Limiter will operate causing the surging effect. 👍

Very interesting video about the electric Citroen. I don’t think it’s for me, but the one thing that I have is you don’t have a heated rear screen or a rearview mirror so that you can’t see what’s behind you which is pretty dangerous. great with you thank you very much another thought is that if cyclists cycle next to each other, they actually take up less road room because you have to overtake a shorter distance.

You have a lovely voice, but say um and ar a lot (imho) I have had 27 million views and in that time, my driving has been critiscised, my clothes, my hair, my weight, my age, my shoes, my accent, for wearing gloves, for driving the car on the motorway, for not driving on the motorway, for liking range rovers, for not liking electric cars, you get the picture? so yours did not bother me at all, and i am sorry that my response bothered you, that was not my intention, have a nice day

@@BarrieCrampton I guess with text you loose a lot of context that you would hear in spoken communication. You can critcise me, as i said, i do, and have addressed it many times in the past. I'm a very tiny casual youtuber, it has nothing to do with my business, it's just a fun outlet for me. However you did come across as if i had offended you. I sought out your video because I'm waiting for my ami to arrive, i sat through and watched almost all of the video, and got some solid advice and questions answered, but you didn't seek me out, and i have my doubts you're into houseplants, gardening, random DIY stuff, and a whole bunch of talking about random shit. It appeared as if you were mimicing me, " hey peeps, umm, umm.." which in spoken conversation would be mimicry, and not exactly nice or respectful. I'm aware of it, and i try to improve, it has a lot to do with my anxiety disorder, it's something I've never had any complaints about, it bothers me too, and all i can do is try. I get video quality, editing, sound feedback which is very helpful and appreciate it, as I'm learning as i go, and my skills and time are limited. I've also got a bunch of abusive comments about my looks, and other nasty stuff, that doesn't really get too me, I'm an mediocre looking fatass, it is what it is 🤷🏽‍♀️ and they can fuck off and go cast their perfect stones else where. Constructive criticism is vital, and never intended as insulting or rude in anyway.

Most of us need a car to perform more than one task. The Ami is fine if you only ever commute through a congested town or city which I do but I also need my car to do motorway runs from time to time and to travel long distances every now and then on A roads. Even around town we have a ring road with a 60mph limit and traffic absolutely flies around most of the day. Imagine trying to join a busy dual carriageway at 28mph when everything else is doing 70. You really need another car if you own an Ami and that means it's not cheap any more.

  • @Circa65-wk8th
    @Circa65-wk8th11 ай бұрын

I considered one of these for a fleeting moment but I just can't make sense of buying EVs. 95% of my driving is in the city these days so performance and handling are meaningless. I'm really looking for city dynamics and cheap running costs. I've decided a Toyota Aygo (Citroen C1 or Peugeot 107) will be far superior. First of all we have the cost of purchase. I can pick up a decent Aygo with FSH for £4k. A Citroen Ami is £7695. The Aygo will do 60mpg so it'll cost me £40 a month in fuel and there's no road tax. Maybe an Ami is cheaper but £40 is very acceptable to me. The Aygo has far superior performance, I can service it myself and there's no range anxiety. I'm not rubbishing the Ami, for some people it will be perfect but for me the Aygo makes far more sense.

I’ve seen enough videos showing condensation on the quadricycle glass. It does appear to be a problem not thought through. For eg the front wiper doesn’t clear the whole screen, leaving bad blind spots. I also though that Citroen would rethink the windows, seeing as it’s a greenhouse on wheels, they could have had the windows open at the top- not bottom. Lastly an internal sunshade roller blind across the glass roof. Why haven’t they even thought that out?? Blinded by the sunny days permanently, overheated occupants or just general privacy

@@BarrieCrampton I understand that some people -myself inc- would go down the DIY route. But it’s really down to Citroen to do that as standard as a ‘one size fits all’, doesn’t apply in all countries. The other things is plastic isn’t a great insulator. Along with exposed metal inside the roof it’s a magnet for cold and moisture. Your breathe will condense all the time - like the old cars of the 70s used to have metal exposed A-pillars,doors,dash and even parts of the roof. Freezing cold and always damp! I suppose a bit like a bike, you won’t be using it much in the winter. I wouldn’t want to skid in it or get stuck!

Well a BMW small ev would cost you £6500 but the Ami ? only £445 pounds according to book my garage car repair website , so that is a bargain as the battery is basically the cars engine and even on an ICE car a new engine to be fitted would be at least £3000 unless it was a 2nd hand one.

im sure that would help, but its powering it, the vehicle only has 46 mile range to start off with, and if you have the fan on it slows down going up hills 😂

It needs a bit more performance to appeal in the UK 28mph is for french laws where you do not have a licence and drive it at 14. It would be like driving an old milk float from the 60’s I foresee a load of road-rage coming to drivers of these.

I hardly ever get over 25mph on my way too and from work, and usually I'm stuck behind a cyclist doing about 5mph because there isnt enough room to overtake them leaving a metre space, then when you do you get stuck in traffic and they undertake you and your back to being stuck behind them, if i was stuck behind a cyclist doing 28mph I would be a happy man

it's also why you can drive it on a moped license in the Uk. if it was any faster at all it would be classed as a car. not a quadrocycle. meaning more expensive insurance as well.
