@OBAMFSpike we're having none of that in El Paso county. Expecting snow today.
I live in New Market VA and the Red Maples are in bloom in the Shenandoah Valley.
These look like they will work very well my friend. Thanks for sharing.
Great concept the 2frame mating nuc, thanks for sharing your interesting content.Macadamia nuts in full bloom now big island Hawaii.
Snow is blooming.
I like the full size deep converted to three 3 frame mating nucs. No mix and match equipment, the box, bottom board, and lid can be turned back into a regular hive. Just makes more sense.
The hazelnut tree is always the first to bloom here in Bulgaria. Love your videos Dave, keep it up.
I run 3 frame nucs it works better for me and easier to watch . I have 50 three frame nucs and fill them twice in a season .

I would have thought three would be better so you have a frame of eggs, one of stores and 1 for then to draw out

Thats what i made a bunch of was 3 frame, that way have room for a frame feeder an when getting built up can take it out an add 3rd frame. They work great.
Now thats a really good two frame setup!! Thats what I build but I like the telescope top.Removable bottom and can stack two hive bodies if needed.A little top heavy but you can do it if you get in a bind.
Been using your hive designs for a few years in my apiary and loving them. Just did my first grafts this past weekend, so I’ve got to build me some more 2 frame mating nuc’s!
Just ordered one of those 2 framers - I agree! It will come in handy! ❤️🐝
I’m planning on building 2 frame nucs this year too!
I like 2 and 3 frame NUCs, they have lots of uses. I raise queens in 2 frames, and when she starts laying I graduate her to 3 frames, then 5. It's my favorite way to make lots of NUCs for increase.
Here in Virginia the maple is blooming along with some small wild flowers in my lawn. VDOT also planted some hardy jasmine that is blooming on embankments near the road.
This video finally told me how to make a queen on my own with out grafting or buying one, and for that I will purchase one of your 2 frame nucs.
Central California. 65 deg days with mustard weeds almonds and pine blooming right now with some other wild flowers coming in bloom
Those are cute, nothing wrong with them, there is lot of work into making those things, I personally wouldn't use them, I still run 5frame nucs for matting, only difference, I stick a 2frame feeder in them and end up with good 3frame of bees, that gives me the flexibility to not have to babysit the nucs that often and in the same time, I can assess the quality of queens since I don't have to pull them out from the baby nucs for lack of space. other than that, Dave, you are doing great, watched you for a long time, like most of your approach to beekeeping, I adjust some of your ideas to fit my needs here in MI. Best regards. Dan

Great video as usual David. Thanks for sharing your bee progress & knowledge. ✌️🐝🐝🐝
Here in River Falls WI, the bees were enjoying cleansing flights.... it was a real 'shiznit' show. Still super fun to watch.

Woohoo - my northern climate Russians were out collecting pollen on Sunday. The trees are starting to bloom and the Russians have awoken from their slumber. It's in the 30s today - but upwards of 60 this weekend. I have built two 2 frame mating nucs - plan is to expand to three hives of Russian 8-Frames for over winter. Overall, grow from my one hive that made it over the winter into three hives - next year - if over winter is successful for 3 hive - I will really start to ramp up my business of delivering Wisconsin OverWinter Nucs. I never treated these Russians for Mites last year - here's to hoping I have found a healthy hive that manages it own mite loads. Time to start feeding and building bees!
Red Maple is finished, here in East Texas. Pear trees blooming. Blackberry (dewberry), will start in a couple of weeks. Temps all over 30's to 60's. Very wet.
Loved the video and the mating NUC looks awesome. I'll be ordering two soon! We've got Red Maple starting to bloom and Spice Bush here in Western Kentucky
I still need to make up another 8-10 2-frame nucs. I think they will work out pretty good for our small operation.
I subscribed to you greetings from Russia)
Red bud trees just cracked open here in central Oklahoma. They won't hardly touch my pollen feeder right now, because they're bringing in alot of natural pollen.
David, please put a link in to your store in your description. People are asking about products here, and might prefer to just go look. This new product looks awesome, love to see you expanding! Great video!
A few wild flowers (small purple and white blooms and a dandelion hear and there.
You could stack those too if the need arose
Nothing blooming here in the smoky mountains
Hey David, It's 54 degrees on the mountain today. My bees are on the move today and are all over my pollen feeder. When is the next bee chat?
Hi frome Sweden. I built those 2 framers, and so many have told me it wont work in our part of the world. They say, it is to little bees for managing a good queen,,,, Then I heard tath some big beekeepers actually was using them in sweden,,,,, Hands up people in north Europe, good for us or not.
Blooming? Here? In February? We still have ten inches of snow on the ground! (Minneapolis, Minnesota.)
Looks Like the one I made last year
Awesome
henbit, and maple, 45 degrees.
Love the videos!! It looks like you're using OSB for the hives...Any issues with that so far? Anyone else using OSB with good results?
2 plus feet of snow lol nothing is green yet it was -40 about 3 days ago now today at around 0
I keep trying with the two frame, and keep struggling with them getting robbed. I made up two this weekend, and had to combine one into a 5 frame, and I have shut the entrance on the other. I am thinking that it will only be viable during a strong flow - we are not there yet in Fl where I am.
The First ! Hurra
I made a 2 frame mating nuc using Funny bug bees design. Just wondering, can you add a ventilation hole in the rear panel?
David are you changing over from advantec to pine on your 5 frame nucs as well?
Feeders for these new ones???? Isn't it encouraged to have feed on while trying to encourage comb building?
Do you sell the feeder that I've seen your videos of?
Most mating stations here in Switzerland accept only Apidea Queen Mating Nucs. Some may accept Mini Plus. Your system looks good.
a 2 frame box will swarm and over crowd just as soon as a mini-nut with 4 or 5 half frames..... a 10 frame box split into 4 canines is still compatible with the rest of your equipment...no special bottom or body or top...just what you decide for the inner covers....
How many seasons old is the advantec box in the video ? Outside is looking a little rough
dandelions in NC
How do you feed syrup with these mating NUC’s? I have one but not sure how I will feed them.
Is it too late to order a package of bees? I will be getting a top bar hive.
Nothing blooming around here but flu bugs.-8F two nights ago.
Hey there Dave! Here in NYC, We" call "Blooming "When you Decide to vote for Bloomberg, and you Dismiss the Thought. LO L. Nice video, keep them coming. 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

you using wood glue when assembling David?
Do you ship to Canada?
What are the dimensions on your new 2 frame nucs?
This is my second year of beekeeping and I have a question I hope you can answer. Is it normal for the queen to have a whole frame of drone brood this time of year? I do want to raise queens eventually but what I need to do first thing this spring is replace a HOT queen I have . One of my hives turned mean.

@@davidhaught84 Thanks for the quick reply. I saw a lot of drones in my hives yesterday and didn't know if it was normal or not.
Wouldn’t a 4 sided 2(2 frame each) Queen Castle pretty much be the same?
@jackmorgan3498
4 жыл бұрын
One of the problems with Queen castles is when a queen is mated and is returning back to the hive,it is very easy for them to go into the wrong hive.
Dave please help me understand what to do!!! I have a question. I did raise a queen this last fall using your idea of a two frame, but I'm unsure that she is fertile. I have seen no egg cells and she was the only survivor when I popped in the hive to check what was going on with the hive this February. She was barely alive. All the workers were dead lying at the bottom of the hive, and no eggs. I grabbed her, and shoved her in a queen cage, and plugged it with some sweet granola ( I didn't have a marshmallow), and then I grabbed some new nurse bees from another hive, and placed them together. Well, she's a big beautiful queen so they accepted and released her from her cage. Thing is I don't know what to do with her. Do I give her more time and see if she gets mated. She was made in October, and end of February no one survived, but her. Do I kill her, and have the nurse bees make a new queen? Please help Dave. p.s. She was in a 2 frame. I had moved her to a 10 frame at the start of winter. I was thinking maybe by marking her; I hurt her ( I was shaking like a leaf) or her wings got damaged (doesn't appear to be) or her wings are not big enough to carry her. I cannot figure it out, but boy she's big. They made a beauty, and they were powerfully mad when I grabbed her to mark her. She's a Saskatraz queen bee. What do I do? Move her back into a 2 frame?
@lt7476

@@davidhaught84 I gave her 2 frames of new nurse bees with some frames of honey, but no brood to speak of a couple days ago in a 10 frame box. They released her and she is walking around with them. So if I moved her back to a 2 frame with the nurse bees I gave her would it be more likely that she would mate eventually because she does not appear to be mated? Or do I kill her and find a frame of eggs to give the nurse bees to make a queen? It would seem a shame. I like the option to save her, but don't want to always give her frames of capped brood when she isn't doing her job of course. Let me know how you would proceed with her. Thanks

@@davidhaught84 Ok, she is going to expire then. No sense in keeping her. This is my 1st year bee keeping. When April rolls around, I'll be working on my 2nd year. Yeah, I'll cross my fingers that I see something tomorrow when I check on her so I don't have to end her life, but I'm not hopeful. If there is nothing still, I'll grab some capped brood, and eggs from another hive. I already started some walk away splits from my Italian queen hive. I indented the cells that I thought were just the right age, but they can probably choose better than me anyway. Thanks Dave. I hope my next home brewed queens will mate better than this one did. Wish me luck. Bye.
Nothing Blooming here in SW Indiana except my taxes- Geeze
The 2-framer is a bad idea, you will have to build a feeder for it. Better use a 5-framer you can use a in-hive feeder with room to grow.
Thanks for the information. I have Apimaye beehives come check them out on my KZread channel and let me know what u think thanks for everything have a good day
if you really want a 2 frame nuc just divide up a 10 frame body in to 4 cavities with 3/16" thick partitions...forget a special 2 frame box...waste of money.....the benefits of using a 10 frame box is the partitions can be pulled to make 2 five frame nucs for winter
I will free my brothers
