    the problem England have is at CH and these twats just ignore it time and time again - we can mix and match our forwards as the competition progresses but without a solid defence we are in real trouble - Neville is the biggest twat of all of them and yet he is probably the most employed pundit - why ffs? - he was a second rate player and an even worse pundit - just because he played the game does not mean he understands it tactically better than anyone else and yet time and time again he proves just how utterly stupid he actually is and he still keeps his job!

Just like ineista led Spain to 3 cups in a row so Jude will win 2 World Cups & a euro in 2030 to 34. WoW. Even Don Carlo & the two Ronaldos R7 & CR7 say he will be better than Zidane. Good to hear Neville talking sense. The warm up games showed that we need to play a three in the centre. It isn’t rocket science. There’s plenty of ability in terms of ball carrying, breaking into the box, and passing range between the three. You have to have balance in a top team and you can win the ball back and press as a team with that balance. The same goes for Foden off the left - interchange with Bellingham, drift more central during the right phases of play, offer a run in behind when it’s an option. The game should be simple for a player of that level and it’s no problem. The issue we have is the back 4, other than that the game should take care of itself.

  • @edenholt4394

    @edenholt4394

    5 күн бұрын

    He talks sense, but I still believe Bellingham could make the perfect partner to Rice in midfield and Foden could play as the free roaming 10 who drops deep when needed. When Foden plays in midfield its not like he is lazy out of possession and always waits for the ball to come to him, he's a tenacious player and doesn't mind getting stuck in. Also going off his Dortmund performances, Bellingham is the most complete 8 that England have, so I don't know why Southgate has got this idea that we NEED to play him as a 10. And you make out that Foden on the left isn't an issue but theres a pretty significant drop off in his performances when he plays there, a right footed player who is happy to make runs in behind defences like Gordon fits that role to a tee.

    You have great attack, but your defence isnt good and this can be a problem because you cant just attack attack and leave yourselves open, you cant do that against face paced teams like France, Spain and even Germany who look like they are waking up after an 8 year nap, all these teams they move the ball well and have quick players and are hard to disposess. Lets also not forget Portugal who have probably the best balanced team in the competition. A team isnt just about the attack, you have to have a balanced team and to be able to defend. Remember in 2020 euros, France, Germany and Spain never turned up, and Englands defence couldn't really be tested but it will be tested this tournament. You are now missing mcguire, hes strong and could have been key against Serbia, Serbia will be going for corners and crosses, they have big men and are strong in the air, they also have a good defence. They will happily sit back and soak up the pressure. I think England will win but you need a good start, all teams predicted to win so far have got at least 3 goals, I expect Italy to get some more. All the best for England though.

    3421 feels like the most optimal formation at the moment - after implementing the style Leverkusen literally went from a decent Bundesliga side to a team who only lost 1 game all season. It could work brilliantly for England, you could play Shaw as the left wingback, or alternatively Saka could work there. Rice could partner Gallagher in the middle, or you could easily bring in Mainoo or Wharton. Bellingham and Foden would start as the two 10s behind kane, with Eze and Palmer offering excellent backup. RWB could be Trent/Saka or you could bring on Walker against deadly wingers. Gomez, Stones and Konsa sounds like a pretty solid back 3 as they're all quite mobile defenders and are good at building out from the back. In possession it'd become more of a 3-2-5 with the two 10s pushing up and the wingbacks staying wide, offering plenty of width and runners into the box.

    It's refreshing to hear Neville speaking logically. The warm-up matches demonstrated the need for three players in the centre. It's not complicated. We have enough talent for ball carrying, box entries, and passing among those three. A balanced team is essential for winning the ball back and pressing effectively. The same principle applies to Foden playing from the left - he should interchange with Bellingham, move centrally when appropriate, and make runs behind the defence when possible. For a player of his calibre, this should be straightforward. Our main concern is the back four; aside from that, everything else should fall into place.

When he is in the 10 he actually does a lot defensively for the team as he's able to roam and apply constant front forward pressure wherever needed, his running stats are off the charts and yes football isn't all about running but it is a big part and i know that teammates breathe a little less heavy when he's on the pitch taking some of their slack. When he's having to occupy areas as he would in an 8 position, he's more on his heels and having to be a lot more concious about his positioning. Another aspect is his marauding runs in to the box and ability to get on the end of things, good finisher too with the ball at his feet. Mainoo needs to be in there instead of trent. Playing Trent will be the death of our team in this tournament. Crap defender, can't work within tight spaces, no positional awareness even as a right back all his career let alone in a DM position at an international tournament! He's a basically a golfer with the golf ball being a football, long passes is literally his only stand out attribute. It'd work if all we were was a long ball target 9 team, but Kane is much more than that.

    For all my many criticisms of Southgate we do need two more defensive midfielders. We just need the 4 attacking players in front of them to be given more of the ball and more licence to play… we can sub the three behind Kane after 45-60 minutes and let the fresh three take advantage of a softened up defence.

    If you have no intricate playmaker then playing counterattacking direct football is our best bet. Southgate didn't choose maddison tells you about his knowledge of offensive football. People are worried about our defense but it's the midfield I'm most worried about. Having big names doesn't change the fact our midfield doesn't have any creativity. Playing defensive will give our attackers more space to run in behind and the need of a playmaker is less important.

  • @futurez12
    @futurez125 күн бұрын

    I honestly don't get the optimism. All this talk about our front players, yet no matter who we play as the front 3 or 4, they never create much, or score many goals. In fact, they struggle big time to break teams down. It's slow, telegraphed passing; lazy movement, or no movement at all; predictable patterns of play... And that's supposed to be where we're strong? Do me a favour. Why people continue to wilfully ignore the actual evidence is truly baffling to me. Also, form is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more important than people seem to realise, and so are friendlies and how we perform in them. Our form over the last 5 or 6 games has been abysmal. You can't just expect to show up and turn it on out of nowhere, like it's as easy as flipping a switch. Things need to be worked at and practiced, and practiced WELL. I honestly think Serbia will cause us all kinds of problems, and the other teams in the group are no mugs. Rankings aren't the be all and end all, but none of the other teams in our group are minnows in terms of their ranking. I'm not at all optimistic about our chances, not even in the group phase. And I haven't even mentioned our weak DM, defence, goalkeeper and tactically inept coaching staff. We also lack the most important player on a football pitch (at international level) - a playmaker. We literally don't have one.

    Actual evidence? "They NEVER create much or score MANY goals" Let's take a look at that statement.. England under Southgate has highest goal scoring ratio for an England team since the 1950's. So. you're wrong on that one even though you may perceive it to be different. You seem to want to focus on the negatives rather than embrace the positives. Some fans just want to worry and take out their frustration at all the wrong things that happen, that's up to them they're entitled to do that.. others actually want to enjoy having some hope and enjoy the football and dream of glory without saying "I told you so.." before a ball has even been kicked. Yes, there are some negatives.. they haven't looked great lately and are probably a couple of players short of winning this tournament but your centre forward is one of the best in Europe, the other 3 attacking players are very dangerous and have shown they can be top class players. It will be down to it clicking up front.. if Kane, Bellingham and Saka turn up then England will be dangerous for anybody to face. It is also not inconceivable that they might click and find a bit of form in this tournament. Personally I think Germany, Portugal and France are more likely to win it but perhaps I can invite you to just try and enjoy the fun and excitement of the tournament without being so negative. Where's the fun in that? It's obviously a big ask to win it.. anyone who knows about football will tell you that but they are where they are right now and positivity and belief is a far more productive mindset (for the players at least) rather than focussing on all the negatives. You may not rate the coaching staff but if you sat down with them for the day you'd probably learn a lot about football. For any amateur to think they know more than Uefa A level coaches who have coached hundreds of professional games with 3 international tournaments under their belt is simply delusional. Stop catastrophizing.. they'll get out of the group and then it will be clear then (to the trained eye) whether they have any kind of chance of going deep into the tournament.

    As we have a problem at left-back, the answer is to play a back three, with a box of four centrally, and you can still have three forwards. It's a five and five. Five offensive players and five defensive. 3-2-2-3. Here's how it looks: Pickford, Walker, Stones, Guehi, Rice, Mainoo, Bellingham, Foden, Palmer, Kane, Saka. That five in forward attacking areas have over 140 goals between them this season. That team can win the euros. Not sure we have a manager brave enough to play it.

Palmer is more creative than Foden, the No 10 Slot, to be shared by them, one starts the other comes on, either to join, or replace depending on the scores and fatigue. Bellingham has to be told to sit, and time his runs, when Kane Drops and the wide players have pulled the defence apart. The defence sorts itself out

Just like ineista led Spain to 3 cups in a row so Jude will win 2 World Cups & a euro in 2030 to 34. WoW. Even Don Carlo & the two Ronaldos R7 & CR7 say he will be better than Zidane. Attack is our best form of defence and I'm tired of Southgate always exercising caution in these tournaments, let the team flow.

I said on an earlier comment you need to be balanced and cautious of England could get themselves caught out. Spain, France and Maybe Germany who look like they are waking up, will be ready for this tournament, I saw Spain play today, the way they move the ball, that was a strong croatian team with tons of experience and they couldn't handle them, you cant attack spain like you think. I doubt south gate will also play this dangerous card of attack attack attack and being left open. It can work against teams like Slovenia perhaps. Also having 2 in midfield against Spain or Germany is a death threat, you would never get the ball. Your formation wont work on the big teams

    I think a Rice/Bellingham midfield is strong enough. Putting Trent in there is not for his defensive ball winning qualities. It's for his passing. It all depends how Southgate decides he wants to progress the ball. I think Fodden should be in there ahead of Bellingham and Rice. He's a goal threat who can affect the game. Simplify Rices job by taking out Mainoo or Trent. Rice should sit, Bellinghams motor will serve to drive forward and progress the ball.

    All this noise, why can't anyone point out that a major part of Foden being great is that the wingers stay wide and Haaland pushes the CBs right back, meaning Foden gets loads of space to find pockets and link play together. That doesn't happen for England because of Kane. Kane does not stay on the back line he drops in to get the ball. It got even worse in the last friendly because Palmer drifted inside. Not complex at all.

    That formation is actually pretty good formation, only Gomez play at left than Trippier and the formation will adapted to 3 centerback in-game and Foden become attacking left wingback and Trent should be playing as right fullback and changing into attacking right wingback in-game while Wharton play in holding midfield role alongside Rice. Wharton with his left foot play in left side holding role and Rice the other side. Then Saka changing into poacher role in-game while Kane drop into number 10 alongside Bellingham and then Foden move to cut inside to opposition box as the 2nd poacher with Wharton helping Foden in left wing.

    But if Shaw is fit enough and ready to play then England have to play 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. Play Bellingham as number 10 and Gordon at leftwing while Foden need to be on the bench. Gordon has better ability in tracking back to help defense as the same as Saka on the rightwing. So when the fullback making forward run, the winger ability on the awareness on the hole left by the fullback must be good

Kane Gordon Bellingham Saka Rice Wharton Trippier Walker Guehi Stones Pickford They need an actual no 6 to protect their defense and Last night showed that. If Southgate wants to experiment with the squad he should sacrifice the wings and get in Watkins on the wing or Mainoo but if they play against Denmark with Trent at the six or any other team in the tournament they will suffer. I would play Trent on the wing if he has to play for his passing but not the CDM position.

    If we're going for goal difference or give the attackers more opportunities to gel, then sure, load up the attack. But if anyone's going to be the punching bag in our group, that's Slovenia and we've fortunately got them last. And we've had our punching bag friendly against Iceland and ended up getting beat. So play how we would against the top teams and get the players familiar with their roles and their team-mates' roles. If us, Denmark and Serbia split results and we need the goal difference, then go for it. Bravery is individual. Where a player has to make a decision in the moment that might mean losing possession, but objectively is worthwhile taking the chance. The bravery there is to go for it rather than pass it off sideways or backwards for someone else to take responsibility. I'm not going to pretend to know what precise definition Kyle Walker had in mind, but that is the bravery I'd like to see.

    Man Utd showed the blueprint for playing Kyle Walker in the FA Cup final. You don’t. Everything of note in that game came through Garnacho on United’s right, the opposite side to Walker. That’s especially possible against this England side given Trippier is being played out of his natural position. You could argue that it’s going to take a disciplined defensive performance ahead of Trippier to protect that area for us. From that point of view, playing a Gordon on the left-wing, someone more mobile and able to get back in ahead of Trippier would be a better selection, even if Foden is the second-coming.

    100 percent wrighty and keane are spot on, rice on his own with a back 4 can do the job correctly with cover also to come back from wide players, Bellingham and foden both as cams with the freedom to switch, and eze goes on the left for me. That gets you goals and wins games let’s go guns blazing and take it to every single other team

    I've seen better defensive setups in the championship If england get out the group stages , and that is a big if The big teams in matornament will have a field day against this back four

    Gary’s correct. Would be risky not having 2 protecting that back four.
